Q. Congratulations on clearing UGC NET! Did you expect to qualify UGC NET for Assistant Professor and JRF?

A.

Yes, I was confident about my UGC NET result. I expected that I will qualify for JRF as well as Assistant Professor.

Q. Could you tell us your preparation strategy that helped you crack UGC NET exam?

A.

First of all, I committed myself towards cracking the exam anyhow. I set my time table for preparation of all the papers and prepared my own notes during studies. Also, I never allowed any negative thinking hamper my preparation. During my preparation, I was not in contact with my friends and family. I achieved my target of qualifying for JRF and Assistant Professor by studying ten hours a day regularly for two and a half months.

Q. Did you take any coaching for the exam?

A.

Yes, I joined a coaching institute to clear my concepts. However, my self-study during preparation time is the real reason of my success.

Q. What study plan did you follow for the exam?

A.

I prepared notes for each chapter and did their revision after regular intervals (mostly after I completed two to three chapters). Before one week of the exam I studied my notes only.

Q. Which books did you read to prepare for the exam?

A.

For Paper I of the exam, I did not refer any book. However, to prepare for other two papers (Paper II and III), I studied the following books:

• Physical Geography – Savindra Singh

• Evolution of Geographical Thoughts – Majid Husain

• Geography of India – RC Tiwari

• Geography Practical - JP Sharma

• Chronicle Geography - Sanjay Singh

Q. How did you deal with your strengths and weaknesses while preparing for the exam?

A.

My positive thinking was my strength. I was always positive that I can crack the exam. Whenever any negative thinking came to my mind, I took guidance from people who have achieved success in their respective fields in the near past.

Q. What as per you are the mistakes one should avoid while preparing for the exam?

A.

Complete studying the syllabus for the exam in a prescribed time. Also, do not forget to study previous years’ UGC NET papers deeply.

Q. Any advice to manage time while giving the exam?

A.

Do not be panic and be confident. At first, attempt those questions which you know the best. It will increase your confidence in the exam. However, do not be over-confident and do not spend too much time on any question.

Q. Which as per you was the most difficult part of the UGC NET exam?

A.

In my opinion, Paper I was the most difficult part of the exam.

Q. Any things that students should keep in mind to perform well on the day of the exam?

A.

Do not be stressed and remain focused and confident.

Q. What are your future plans?

A.

My immediate future plan is to clear NET in General category. After that, in order to secure my future I will start applying for jobs to become an Assistant Professor. My final aim, however, is to crack the state-level civil services exam and serve the society.
