B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biochemistry - Batch of 2026

It is good for students who do not want to go for research or a Ph.D.
Placements: In a basic science course, there is no placement after B.Sc. You need to have at least an M.Sc. To work in industry, a lab, or as a research associate at a university. No recruiting company comes for a B.Sc. Students have to approach the industry by themselves. The same is true for internships; students have to apply to research institutes in India, and in most cases, they provide a stipend.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good for the faculty of life sciences. Wi-Fi-enabled departments and well-maintained research labs Classrooms are equipped with modern facilities, such as projectors. Each department has seminar library where student can read all the books related to their course But labs are not top-notch-oriented, so if a student thinks she is interested in the pure research field, this university would not be a good choice. Facilities are not that good in hostels, as the buildings are too old and have not been renovated. Food quality is average.
Faculty: Most of the faculty are well qualified but not all are really helpful; some are really pathetic at teaching. Sadly, Indian universities don't update their curriculum regularly, especially in the basic sciences. So obviously, basic sciences students are not industry-ready. The semester exams are that much difficult but most faculty apply hard marking.
Other: I took biochemistry as it is the flagship course in the faculty of life sciences, and obviously my interest aligns with it. The best thing is that most of the coursework is related to chemistry, so I don't have to memorize a lot of things. And obviously, it's a good foundation for interdisciplinary biomedical research as compared to the MBBS course. One sad thing about university is that fests and events are not supported by the administration; in fact, they oppose them, so you will be quite bored here; there are only studies and nothing interesting to do here. Sports and medical facilities are available at almost no cost. And the most important thing is that the administration is so slow that it took them six months to release the results of my semester. So sadly, I lost all of the internship opportunities.

Promising Education with Room for improvement .
Placements: In the 2022 batch for B.Sc. Hons Biochemistry, approximately 70% of students were successfully placed. The highest package offered was 7LPA, the lowest was 3LPA. And the average package stood at 4.5LPA, Top recruiting companies included Biocon, Roche, And GSK. About 60% of students secured internships, with prominent companies like Novartis and Bio-Rad. Common roles offered were research Analyst, Lab Technician, and quality Control Analyst.
Infrastructure: AMU Offers great facilities for Biochemistry Students. Labs are well-equipped, classrooms have WI-FI, and the library is resourceful. Hostel quality varies, food is decent, medical facilities are available, same with sports facilities but it could be improved.
Faculty: Teachers in AMU's Biochemistry department are qualified, Knowledgeable, and supportive. The curriculum is relevant but could enhance industry readiness with more practical exposure. Semester exams are difficult, with pass percentage of around 70% teachers are not at all lenient with the marking.

The cheapest place to study.
Placements: Roughly around 30-35% students get placed in this field. Mine package was about 3.5 Lacs per annum, while the avg is roughly about 4 Lacs per annum. I got this package due to good cgp in my academics and all. If I talk about the internship some of them with good score are able to attend internship.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available library and classrooms are not too much bad building is old about food not bad but sometimes they provide bad meal, sports and games is well maintained. But coach aren't available there so its a flaws, library is good facilities are provided there.
Faculty: The pattern of teaching is too old and the faculty member are there just to teach you and sometimes you have to manage by yourself. It won't make you industry ready but you can grab a decent tag. Semesters are too easy you just have to start studying a month before exam. First year its easy but if you go in second it would become some hard.

AMU is the top central university for a life science course with good facilities.
Placements: Almost all the students from our course got placed. I don't know the salary offered to the students. Top recruiting companies like Thermo Fisher, Biocone, etc., visit our campus for placements. Many students from our course get an internship. Roles like research analyst and development are offered to the students. We can also get various high posts according to the course and high qualifications.
Infrastructure: Facilities in our department are good, but the laboratory needs up-gradation. Hostel facilities are average. Quality of food served is average, but we don't get a variety of food in the hostel mess. Medical facilities are more than average. Sports and games are also more than average.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful and qualified. Some teachers teach us well, but few just make us write down notes. This course has a good scope in the industry domain. If we do any course of management, then we will have a better chance to excel in the industrial area.
Other: I have chosen this course because it is the best course for science students. I wish the college should improve laboratory facilities.

Faculty members are good, but there is not even a single placement.
Placements: Including both boys and girls, there are almost 50 students. None of the companies visits the campus for placements after completion of the degree. It totally depends on the students what they want to do further. Students pursue masters or prepare for any government exam because you will not get any good job after graduation in biochemistry.
Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms in our college are good. I have heard from my friends who are residing in the hostel that hostel facilities are not too good as in each room 4-5 students live. Even the quality of the food served is not that good. Library of the college is good, but Maulana Azad Library is the best, and you can go and study there.
Faculty: Most of the teachers in our college are highly qualified, and they are PhD holders and many contributions to the research field. The pattern of the teaching of every teacher differs, and it depends on students what they like. The course is designed well, and it provides theoretical knowledge. But as there is no visit to any industry, I can say that we don't have practical knowledge related to industries.
Other: I have chosen this course because this course is always taken by good rank holders in the entrance. There should be an industrial visit, and also interactive sessions should be conducted.

Aligarh Muslim University has cooperative teachers and helps students.
Placements: B. Sc. is just a graduation degree. To get a post at least master degree is necessary for the biochemistry department. There are negligible placements after the B.Sc. only. There are many internship programmes and seminars conducted by A. M. U. and other universities too.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is average, but there is a good library. There is a Wi-Fi facility inside the campus. There is a hostel which provides good food quality, but medical facilities in women's college which are a part of A.M.U are not good. There is only one dispensary. There are good sports facilities, and there is also a good canteen. Electricity problem is faced many times.
Faculty: Only a few teachers are well experienced because in recent years many teachers have been retired. Although the new teachers are also good and helpful, the experience is an important criterion. This course mainly focuses on the academic. Bachelor in biochemistry can't prepare anyone for the industry.
Other: The best thing to learn about biochemistry is that after gaining knowledge in this field and pursuing the same, we have good opportunities in future for the research. The college campus is excellent with greenery everywhere. A lot of events are conducted in the college every year. Many fests also organised among them. SIR SYED DAY is celebrated at a grand level by the college. Overall there is a positive environment, and everyone is helpful.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty, good infrastructure and facilities .
Placements: Almost 80 percent student were placed in my course. Idk such top recruiting company till now because most of the B.Sc. student prefer to get admission in M.Sc. for better job opportunities. I think almost 50% student got internship I don't know much about the companies Top roles offered as a teacher, professor.
Infrastructure: We have a well developed facilities in the college. The classrooms are clean we also have library in college as such and all of us knows about maulana azad library both library have Wi-Fi and we also have labs in college Hostel is above average, the canteen food quality is really good but mess is average, we have jnmc also for medical services .
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, they are not partial at all. And three college professor teach us so the quality of teaching is top class Yaa ofc it's actually depend on the student when to make it industry ready or not Semester exams are quite good like what you've in your syllabus comes in your exam the pass percentage is really high.
Other: I must say there is very less fest conducted, scholarship is also given to each student and for extracurricular activities we have separate ground for sports like badminton ground and basketball for everything.

Hey, You must satisfy the minimum criteria required to give the entrance test and also you must have minimum cutoff of 55-60% in class 12th to be eligible to appear in the exams and counselling. Hence if the above criteria fulfills, you are good to go.
