Yes, Calcutta University does offer BSc courses as general and honours courses for the duration of three years, divided into six semesters. The university offers BSc courses through the affiliated colleges and its campus. To get admission into the courses, applicants are required to complete their Class 12 from a Science stream with relevant subjects. 

The Calcutta University highest package or the salary details for 2024 drive are yet to be released. However, the median package for the 2023 drive is disclosed in the NIRF report 2024. The highest median package offered during 2023 placements was INR 10 LPA, made to PG (2-year) and BTech students. No, direct admission is not possible at Calcutta University in the BTech course. Students must appear for the WBJEE exam for the same. Thy must also fulfil the eligibility criteria required for admission.

No, you cannot get admission at a rank of 7000 at Calcutta University. The Calcutta University cutoff 2024 for the BTech courses at the undergraduate level has been released upto Round 3 seat allotment results. The WBJEE cutoff 2024 for BTech courses ranged between 903 and 3918 for General AI students. So, candidates having a rank of, 7000 cannot not even think of  getting admission at Calcutta University. However, for OBC AI category candidates, the required rank to get into Calcutta University is 27788 or below than that.

Calcutta University offers over ten specialisations in BTech courses, for admission to all specialisations, the university accepts the WBJEE entrance examination except for BTech in Jute and Fibre Technology: For admission into the second year of BTech course
in Jute and Fibre Technology, the candidates should qualify JELET for lateral entry and should have any one of the following degrees: BSc with Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics, BSc in Textile and Clothing/ B.FAD or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/ etc. 

Calcutta University as well as University of Engineering & Management Kolkata offer BTech courses across several specialisations. However, some of the specialisations offered in both the universities are different from each other. While Calcutta University offers BTech in Jute and Fibre Technology, Polymer Science and Technology, Radio Physics and Electronics, etc., along with the traditional specialisations such as CSE, ECE, Civil, Mechanical, and others.

UEM Kolkata offers BTech mainly in the traditional specialisations including, Civil, CSE, Electrical, Biotechnology, etc. Candidates can choose the university after drawing a comparison in terms of courses, fees, placements, etc.
