Oil Technology don't include mineral oils and gases in HBTU.

Placements: HBTU holds a 100 percent placement record in the oil branch, with many of the students receiving more than one offer. The highest placement this year is 14 LPA, with an average package of 8 LPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA. The top recruiting companies include Ruchi Soya (under Patanjali), ExxonMobil, Reliance, and others. Almost 30 percent of the students in the 3rd year got internships, and almost 20 percent from the 2nd year in 2025. Apart from this, students from the 3rd and 4th years also perform research in the field of oil. The roles of oil technologists are offered.

Infrastructure: The college is equipped with Wi-Fi, advanced labs, and a vast library that has books that are almost 100 years old to the latest journals, research papers, and e-books. For oil, there are 3 labs (one for UG, one for PG, and one for advanced research and Ph.D.). The lab has some of the most advanced equipment in the field of oil, and even samples from IIT come to HBTU for testing in the field of oil. The campus has an infirmary for any medical issues, where a doctor is available 7 days a week, and a field for games.

Faculty: Most of the teachers here are supportive but you have to approach them if you face any specific problem or issue, they will surely look into the matter. The college offers some industrial visits, but they are rare, they do bring experts to teach about current developments in industry. End-semester is a bit hard, some teachers do hard checking (in Physics and electrical). To pass the end-semester, you need 15/50 and a total 40/100.

Other: My batch have 61 students, and the maximum seats are 63. HBTU is the central zone of Oil Technologies Association of India (OTAI), and if anyone is passionate about oil, then every year, experts come to view and support different research and accomplishments. If it's good enough, you may get funding. The oil Technology here does not include mineral oils. There is a good chance that you will not get a hostel due to its limited rooms, but there are about 4 PGs within 300 meters of the college. Do enquire about food in these PGs before joining any.

Good college to explore but it's upto you what you want.

Placements: Placement at our college is excellent. All students who sat for campus placement got a job. Many of our seniors got multiple job offers from both core and non-core companies. PSUs come to recruit students. In my course, 90% of students were placed with an average package of 10-12 LPA. The highest package was 44 LPA last year, which was off campus, and on campus it was 36 LPA.

Infrastructure: The college provides Wi-Fi in the hostels, but we have to fill out a form and verify our identity to get it. Classrooms are fully air conditioned, but hostels are not. Each hostel has basic medical facilities, and the mess food is good. There are also three canteens on campus.

Faculty: The teachers are very supportive. They are all Ph.D. holders, and some of them have published papers in foreign universities and colleges. The professors are well educated and qualified enough to teach our course. If we pay attention in class, the exams are easy to crack. The rest is up to us.

Other: Oil technology is the oldest branch of Harcourt Butler Technical University in Kanpur. There is a good future scope and plenty of opportunities in this field, provided that we are serious about our career.

Our college is good in all aspects.

Placements: Around 19 out of 26 students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is 12 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 4.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Bunge, Fawr, and Archer Daniels Midland. Around 70-80% of students got internships in their 3rd year.

Infrastructure: Our college provides us with all facilities. Our college is Wi-Fi enabled. Classrooms are equipped with projectors. Wi-Fi facility is available in the hostel, but its speed is slow. The food served in the hostel is average. The infrastructure of the hostel is old. They provide sports facilities. You can play cricket. Our college has a badminton court, basketball court, cricket ground, etc.

Faculty: Our teachers are good, knowledgeable, and well-qualified. The course curriculum is old. Some aspects of this course make students industry-ready. They teach us very well. Semester exams are not much difficult. If you study well, you can easily clear all the exams. Students should score a 4 CGPA to pass.

Other: I opted for this course because it was the first branch of this college, and its alumni base is very good. It is a good college. The infrastructure should be improved. Our college is spread over 377 acres of land. Many events and fests are held in our college. Students enjoy events. You will witness many more small events the entire year.

If you are looking for a good infrastructure, I would not recommend HBTU.

Placements: Placements in our course are not that good. You get more time for coding, and you can easily get into IT companies. If you want placements in the core field, you will get a salary package of around 7 LPA to 12 LPA, which is quite good. As there are fewer students in this branch, there is a 100% chance of getting placed.

Infrastructure: The hostel is not that good. You can also live in PGs, as the hostel food is not good. I live in Ramanujan Hostel, where the food is not good.

Faculty: HBTU has good faculty members. They are well-educated. Exams are not easy, so you have to work hard. Faculty members will always help you and guide you.

Our college provides good placements.

Placements: The highest salary package offered is 7.2 LPA and the lowest salary package is 4 LPA. The recruiting companies are Mount Meru, Adani Wilmar, Cognizant, etc. There is a very good alumni network due to which students get placed easily.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available but it is not working. Labs are average. Some classrooms are very good and some are bad. The library is good and Wi-Fi works in the library. Hostels are good. The food served is above average. Our college has a small hospital, ATM, bank, temple, and forest. There is a very good cricket ground, west campus main GATE, and seminar halls.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college are average. Students have to study hard to get a good CGPA. The course curriculum makes students industry ready. There are 2 mid-semester exams and 1 end-semester exam.

Other: I chose oil technology because it is all about vegetable oil. Students of this course get some free time. The best thing about this course is that students have little free time and students get a chance to visit the OTAI conference every year which is free of cost.

Our college is very good. I would recommend students to join this college.

Placements: Placements are average in our course. Almost 80% of students got placed in multinational companies. The average salary package offered was 6 LPA. The highest salary package offered was 15 LPA. Internships are also offered in this course. Top recruiting companies are ONGC, India Oil, etc.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average in our college. Our campus is Wi-Fi enabled but there is no Wi-Fi in the hostel. The food served in the mess is not good. The library is well maintained. Our classrooms are good and digital boards are also available.

Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified and they are old. Our course curriculum is good. Semester exams are moderate, and all students can pass easily. There is no industrial exposure till 2nd year.

Best government college in Kanpur providing good placements.

Placements: Almost 90% students got placed in our course but you should be eligible for the placement process. The highest package offered is 20 LPA, the lowest is 4 LPA, and the average is 6 LPA. Adani Wilmar is the top recruiting company. Students who wish to take internship will get it. Oil technologist assistant is the top role offered.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good compared to other government institutes. Wi-Fi is available in library and labs. Food is of good quality. Medical facilities are excellent. There are big grounds for cricket, football, and badminton courts available on the campus.

Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and they help us in each and every possible way. The curriculum is designed to make students industry ready, and develop the leadership quality. Semester exams are of moderate level but you have to study for the better CGPA.

I had new experiences and learned many new things in the college.

Placements: Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur has an active placement cell. The institute successfully conducted its 2021 placement drive. The students grabbed good CTC packages during HBTU Placements 2021. 63.61% of the total students in the participating batch were placed during the placement drive. A total of 437 students were eligible to participate in the placement process. They received 278 placement offers from the recruiting companies.

Infrastructure: HBTU has a central air-conditioned library with 21002 books, 70023 volumes, 16 national and 34 international journals along with online access of e-resources, research papers and articles. Excellent food is available and hostels are the best with proper security.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and qualified. Every faculty helps students in every situation. Semester exams are average. If students study well, they can definitely pass the exam. The pass percentage is 40. Students are made industry ready with proper training.

Other: I chose this course because it provides a lot of growth opportunities. Every year many events are organized. Techika and Adhaay events along with many more are held every year with lot of excitement. Scholarship is provided to eligible students every year. In extracurricular activities, students are given the opportunity to join different clubs.
