Jadavpur University Infrastructure
Jadavpur University is spread over an area of 56 acres with modern infrastructure conducive to learning and dedicated research. The facilities of Jadavpur University include a Central Library, Computer Centre, Hostels, Health Centre, Yoga Centre, Horticulture Section, etc.
- Library: The university has a proud library system which includes a central library, Salt Lake Campus Library, around 36 departmental libraries and a total number of 23 libraries which are attached to schools & centers under the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Law & Management. The central library is equipped well with a monstrous stock of resources. The library has an internet connection so that students can avail of e-resources too. The central library of Jadavpur University comprises a number of 6198 books, 11762 journals, 24 resource databases, 2 talking books and 13742 question papers.
- Hostel: The university provides accommodation facilities for both boys & girls. A total number of 13 hostels are there at the campus premises, 4 for girls & 9 for boys hostels with provision for accommodating over 1600 students. There is an exclusive hostel for research scholars. All the amenities of the hostel come at a feasible price which is INR 3,000.
- Guest House: Jadavpur University has a guest house with 90 double bedrooms, 3 deluxe rooms, 2 single rooms, with all the required maintenance.
- Health Center: The University Health Centre is located on the campus. It is attended by a full-time Medical Superintendent and part-time qualified specialists in General Medicine, Eye, E.N.T., Skin, Dental and Pathology and a part-time Lady Doctor. All the specialists visit the health center for two hours three days a week and the Lady Doctor attends the center on all working days for three hours a day. Consultation and Medicines are all free of cost.
How to Reach Jadavpur University?
The main campus of Jadavpur University is located in South Kolkata. The Salt Lake campus is located in the eastern side of the city overlooking the EM Bypass. Both the campuses are quite close by and well accessible from the Kolkata airport and the two major railway stations. Buses, Tramways, Taxis, Metro provide public transportation in Kolkata and provide connectivity to both the campuses. Besides, the Main Campus is connected through city railways (Jadavpur Railway station).
