NIMCET Sample Papers 2026: NIT Trichy will conduct the NIMCET exam for the 2026 session on June 6, 2026. As the exam is just a few days away, it becomes imperative for candidates to start their studies as early as possible. Candidates preparing for the test must refer to NIMCET 2026 question papers for effective preparation. With the help of previous years' question papers, students will get a clear idea about the NIMCET exam pattern, difficulty level of questions asked in the exam, marking scheme, and syllabus. 

As per scheme of NIMCET exam, the question paper is in multiple choice format and is conducted in online computer-based mode. The NIMCET MCA question paper will have a total of 120 MCQs from Math, Computer Awareness, Logical Reasoning and English. The total exam duration will be 2 hours. Q:   When should I start preparing for NIMCET?
A: 

Ideally, you should start preparing at least six months before the exam date. The NIMCET 2026 exam date has not been announced yet, however, the tentative examination date is around June 2026, making now a perfect time to start preparing for it. NIMCET exam pattern along with the brochure will soon be released on the official website at nimcet.admissions.nic.in.  

Q:   Is one month sufficient for NIMCET preparation?
A: 

No, one month is not sufficient for NIMCET preparation. You would need to study an extensive syllabus that would need time as well as a lot of effort. However, if you are a BCA student that your college education might help you in your preparation, since the topics of NIMCET and BCA are similar, you would need to brush up on your knowledge. It is recommended to solve previous year NIMCET question papers to make yourself acquainted with the NIMCET exam.

Q:   What are the compulsory subjects in NIMCET?
A: 

Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and General English are the compulsory subjects in NIMCET. The official syllabus of NIMCET is available online.

Q:   Is calculator allowed in NIMCET exam?
A: 

No, calculator or any other electronic equipment such as mobile phones, pagers, etc. will not be allowed to carry to the NIMCET exam centre. Candidates need to report at the examination hall in the allotted test center with admit card before one hour as NIMCET is an online examination, the candidates are required to follow the instructions given at the test center for entry and allotment of terminal. 

Q:   What documents do I have to carry to the NIMCET test centre?
A: 

List of documents you must carry to the NIMCET test centre-

  • Printed copy of NIMCET admit card
  • A valid photo ID (e.g. Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, or Voter ID). No soft copies
  • Recent passport-size photo

Please note that calculators, mobile phones, or any electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the exam hall.

Q:   Do they provide any rough sheet for calculations for NIMCET question paper?
A: 

Yes, extra sheets are provided to the NIMCET candidates for rough work or calculations. Keep in mind that you would need to submit those rough sheets at the end of the exam to the invigilators.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of NIMCET?

The difficulty level of NIMCET is normal. Here is the bifurcation-

  • Computer awareness: BCA/B.Sc. IT level
  • English, logical reasoning and Mathematics: Intermediate level

Please note that the questions in NIMCETs are tricky, and you will need to study in-depth. Go through the concepts and topics mentioned in the NIMCET syllabus to get a good score. Students who study NCERT and have a strong grasp of the basics can perform well in NIMCET.

Q:   When will the NIMCET 2026 answer key be released?

The provisional NIMCET 2026 answer key will be tentatively released in the 2nd or 3rd week of June 2026. Candidates can check the answer key at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. 

Q:   What should I do if I find any discrepancy in the NIMCET answer keys?
A: 

If you find any discrepancy in the NIMCET answer keys, you can raise objections online at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. You would need to submit your objections with supporting proof. For every objection, INR 500 has to be paid online, i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. Authorities will not accept the objections if the fee is not paid.

Q:   Is there a provision to challenge the NIMCET answer key?
A: 

Yes, you can challenge the provisional NIMCET answer key. Here's how-

  • Select the question you want to challenge
  • Submit proof/s that your answer is correct

There is a fee of Rs. 500 per question. You CAN'T challenge the answer key after result announcement.

Candidates admission into NIT is based on depending on your All India Rank (AIR); top ranks (under 100) usually NIT Trichy or Warangal which are top NITs. Mid-range ranks (500–1500) get placements in mid-tier NITs like Raipur, Agartala, or Jamshedpur.

NIMCET is more difficult as it is national-level exam. Its focus is on high-level Mathematics. On the other hand, MHT CET (for MCA) is state-level and emphasizes speed over complex conceptual depth.

Yes. The cutoff (opening and closing ranks) is released after each round of centralised counselling. Typically, there are three primary rounds followed by a special/spot round if seats remain vacant at participating NITs.

No. You cannot manually convert CGPA to percentage or vice-versa to qualify. If your university uses a 10-point scale, a 6.5 CGPA is the minimum requirement for General/OBC candidates.
