Review of NIT Rourkela - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placements are pretty good compared to other private universities. Placement rate is nice. The average package offered is nice. One can get a job easily if they prepare well. There are so many opportunities and companies visit the college for placements. Even if by chance, if we do not get any on-campus placements, then we can still try for off-campus placements or higher studies.
Infrastructure: Our college provides internet in every room of the hostel. The milk quality is good, and the menu is also quite good. The registration process for the hostel is very easy, and it is only Rs. 5,000 per semester. There are a lot of games that come under intra-hostel games.
Faculty: Faculty members at the institute are generally well-regarded, with a diverse group across various departments who bring a mix of academic expertise, research experience, and industry knowledge. Many professors hold doctorate degrees from renowned IITs, NITs, and other national universities across India, and also from renowned universities abroad. Professors are good. Their teaching style is unique and outstanding. They make lectures and classes interactive for students. In the academic view, NIT Rourkela offers a wide range of programs across undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate, M.Tech, M.Sc., MBA, M.A., and doctoral levels. The institute offers many core engineering courses like computer science, artificial intelligence, electronics, electrical, mechanical, chemical, metallurgy, mining, biotechnology, biomedical, ceramic, food processing, and civil engineering.
Other: I am in the 1st year, so I have quite little experience. As per my experience, the campus life is good. There are so many clubs, especially for coding. Many fests are organised every year, and many events are held at NIT Rourkela. We should participate in those activities, and we will make so many friends who will help us a lot. The institute crowd is low, and the environment is very good. As per my experience, NIT Rourkela is a good option for the overall development of students.

Best college in all aspects, i.e. academic as well as non-academic.
Placements: NIT Rourkela is a very good college all over Odisha and India. My department is the Integrated M.Sc. Department of Life Science, and in this department, we have 20 students. This course is generally research-oriented. It is very useful for students who want to pursue their careers in research and academia.
Infrastructure: NIT Rourkela's infrastructure is very good. We have proper facilities and gym equipment. We also have a swimming pool and gardens. We can also practice using videos for the exercise equipment. We have workshops for practice and computer drawing and graphics.
Faculty: At NIT Rourkela, the faculty are well-educated and accessible to students. They also support students at every moment and encourage them to help them achieve their success and goals. They have done their Masters' and Ph.D. degrees from foreign universities, such as IITs or other universities like Stanford and Oxford, etc.

Good for research but not so great for placements.
Placements: 100 percent of students were placed last year. But average and the highest package was not so good in 2022 the highest was 11LPA and the lowest was 3.6LPA. Average is around 7.5 LPA. Most of them were placed in ed-teach companies. And lot of students went for higher studies.
Infrastructure: There is not so great infrastructure for the course but it is above average. Good classrooms are available with projectors and AC. And labs are also great. Hostel is also good with all facilities. Mess food is also above average. Apart from mess there is a day canteen and a night canteen.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and Knowledgeable. Curriculum is relevant and provides great opportunity for higher studies in local and abroad. Syllabus is research oriented. Semester exams are not so difficult it is easy to get pass but difficult to score excellent grade.
Other: Campus life is great. There are lots of fests and extracurricular activities. Like ino (teach fest), cosmo (cultural fest), virdhi (sports fest). Campus is huge. And also it provides great expose of teach.

All you need to know about NIT Rourkela.
Placements: Placements in my college are decent in all branches, and on-campus placements are there. Students become eligible for placements in the 7th semester, and many offers were made last year by more than 200 companies. On-campus internship opportunities are good, but the majority of students go for off-campus internships because, on campus, only 300 to 400 offers are made for internships! And many students don't get internships as well at times.
Infrastructure: Hostels in NIT Rourkela are good, but the mess is below average or sometimes bad, and hygiene is also an issue at times. In the room, all facilities, like the internet, table, and chair, are well provided and really good. It is compulsory to stay in a hostel in NIT Rourkela. Hostel registration is an easy process with a good menu that does not contain most South Indian dishes except dosa and idli.
Faculty: The curriculum is hard at NIT Rourkela, mainly because of the 85 percent attendance policy. The student-to-faculty ratio is good. The structure of the entire course is very good; they take you from a very basic level of teaching to a very good understanding and allow you to indulge deeply in the activities and principles of the course.

NIT Rourkela is not that bad for Int M.Sc. in Life Science. There's more than what meets the eye.
Placements: In 2021 there was 100% placement as announced by the Institute. God knows if it's real. But top recruiters are usually Byju's, Biocon, etc. Only select students with non-core skills like programming, software development, and web development get picked for better companies. Besides, a lot prefer higher education after the Int. M.Sc. Not much idea about the highest and the lowest packages, but to my knowledge average falls around 7 LPA-9 LPA.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is great but again there is a firewall in place that restricts a lot of websites from being accessed, none of the educational and related sites are blocked though. Labs are okay, but not great because it has limited occupancy and so mostly it's filled by Ph.D. students and a few M.Sc. students. Classrooms are great, spacious, and more interactive thanks to the lower students' strength of the Life Science Department. The library is cool as well, with almost all the basic books needed for the course and a decent lot of extra supplementary readings. Hostels are okay, not bad, decent, food quality is a bit below average but not like you would die and want to eat outside every day or leave campus and be at home. It's alright. A canteen is the best place, for not just hangouts but also to fill your belly with better foodstuffs than what mess items are cooked. Open till night at 1:30 so you will never feel hungry, accessible most of the time. Sports opportunities are decent too. Games, depend on you, your friend circle, and the bunch to pick spots and enjoy time outside playing some outdoor games mostly cricket.
Faculty: I gave it 4 stars because the curriculum is right what you need to prepare and cover during your BS and MS years, to be ready for higher studies. The curriculum completely covers the syllabus for CSIR, UGC, etc. Entrances with a few exceptions which is obvious anywhere you study. If I could, I would have rated half of the faculty to be above average. Professors there are a few who taught you in a great way bringing out the best in you if you're interested in research. Their teaching practice is great. But they are decent ones, who teach normally but understandably, enough for you to do the homework i. e., self-study and reach greater heights. - There are a few everywhere this is, except colleges with great reputations and rankings who are below average in terms of teaching, research, and everything. Exams are decent, barring the few profs I would've rated 5s, the rest won't challenge you with their questions in exams. But the ones with a 5s rating will make you feel better with the quality of questions that would challenge your brain and make you feel like the researcher in you. The real curious scientific mind in you comes out to answer it. It's that gratifying personally.
Other: Well, I chose the course for the namesake. I meant, the course name, and not related to the name and reputation of the institution, because I was inspired, in the INSPIRE summer camp 2018 by a lot of scientists and knew BS-MS/Int. M.Sc. is the first stepping stone to achieving my dream of scientist. Also, NIT-R surely is a great place in the eastern part of India among other NITs/IIITs/CFTIs and also better by only a few IITs in the eastern part of India. The reason is such a huge, green campus, and a lively crowd when it comes to any fest. Any fest like Cultural fest, Tech fest, or any event which is conducted at the scale of college level. Scholarships are okay, for there's not much difference in obtaining a scholarship if you read elsewhere or here. Rules are the same in Pan India, so not a thing to wonder about. But Institute fellowships for PhDs, I heard are decent for you to make it through your Ph.D. life. Things I wish that could be better is maybe a bit of placement offers from core companies which is a rare possibility because the myth is NIT is a technical institute, can't help. Everything else is fine, as long as one has strong motive, confidence, and intuition to keep pushing himself and reach where he/she wants.

It has amazing seniors, super amazing club culture, and amazing faculty members.
Placements: In my branch, most of them generally opt for PhD, either abroad or in some of the best and finest colleges of India. Apart from that, Ed-Tech companies such as BYJU's and some pharma companies offer very good packages. So, there is an ocean of opportunities. You can pursue whatever you want and make the best use of your 5 years. Seniors are super supportive and friendly.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is best-in-class. They provide all the basic facilities. The study environment is amazing. Well-equipped labs are available. Wi-Fi is quite slow but adjustable. The quality of the food varies from mess to mess. Not the best food, but not even the worst. You can play whatever you want on campus. The campus is well-equipped with all the sports items. We also have an Olympic size swimming pool.
Faculty: In one semester, we have 2 exams. Mid-semester exams are of 30 marks, and end-semester exams are of 50 marks. Rest 20 marks are in the hand of professors as TA. Some of them are very strict, and some are liberal. But overall, if you study well for your exams, you can score good marks.

Having fun in college because of friend, friendly seniors and college fests.
Placements: The course I am pursuing is integrated M.Sc. in Life Science, mostly the students who choose this course go for higher studies like Ph.D. and focus on research. Still some students participate in placements so the average package of our course is around 9lpa and the highest package was around 15lpa.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our classrooms, library and labs are top notch and the hostels are decent also. Wi-Fi is available almost all around the campus except inaide the classrooms in the lecture avenues 2 so the students focus on studies rather than using internet. The food provided in the hostel mess is decent Non veg is served 6 days a week so it is very good for non vegetarian.
Faculty: The professors who teach us in the college are highly qualified each one of them have Ph.D. in there respective fields from foreign. They are a great source to get knowledge. The exam patterns is simple, to pass you only need 35 marks including Mid seems (30 Marks), End seems (50 mark) and TA ( Teachers assessment) (20 marks). However the questions in the exam are tough but you can solve them easily if you are well prepared.

The institution of national importance is NIT Rourkela.
Placements: Overall, the college has an average placement of 13.4 LPA with around 1,170 offers, which estimates around 90% placements. The highest in electronics is 1.2 crores per annum. The lowest in Life Science is 3 LPA the lowest on campus. The highest in Life Science is 7 LPA. The low in the branch is due to students opting for higher studies and foreign research.
Infrastructure: Well-designed course curriculum, rigorous academics, and an absolute grading system. Hostels are big and well-maintained, with an average mess. Wi-Fi facility is good, though below average. There is a good central library with AC, the best sports stadium, and each hostel with their own gym and other rooms like music, TV, study rooms, etc. There are good canteens both day and night, though not 24/7.
Faculty: Good and supportive faculty members and, a rigorous curriculum. There are two exams per semester mid-sem 30 marks and end-sem 50 marks per theory course in a sem. The absolute grading system makes it tough for students. The rest 20 marks depend on the TA, i.e., your faculty. If lenient, they give a good 15-20 marks, if strict, they grade according to internal test performance, and you can get below 5. The pass percentage in hard subjects is still around 70-80% or above than that. You might only fail if you study nothing.
Other: I chose this for the NIT RKL tag. There is an improvement in the hostel mess as it is costly as per the mess fee. The best fests and multiple clubs are each and every skill.
