B.Tech. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2029

Good placement rate this year
Placements: So, first of all, thank you, Shiksha, for giving me this opportunity. I am currently in my 2nd year of Biotech. Last year, the placement rate was very low. Only 4 students got placed. But this time, it has increased by more than 400%. Around 24 students got offers, and 21 got placed. This is a huge step towards making Biotech a good branch placement-wise in NITRR.
Infrastructure: Our college has about 100 acres of land. It includes hostels, staff residences, academic buildings, grounds, etc. The infrastructure is good, not as good as top-tier NITs, but definitely decent compared to other colleges. We have a hostel shortage, which is a problem, but you can get a hostel by maintaining a good SGPI in the odd semester.
Faculty: I think faculty members are quite good. A few of them are from IITs and NITs, and some are from top universities in India like BHU, DU, and JNU. Our department has labs and is also currently working on research. Semester exams are moderate, which means you can easily pass by studying 2–3 days before the exam.
Other: If you are getting into this college, you should join, as you will learn a lot from professors and seniors. There are fests as well, which are among Central India's biggest fests.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty and college life.
Placements: Hello everyone, if you go to check the placement stats of the Biotech branch, it is quite low, but the reason behind it is that many of the students do not even qualify or are eligible to sit in the interview for campus placement. The reason is simple: low CGPA. If you are a good student and continue to study efficiently after joining college, then biotech also has a good choice and placement, but you have to work hard; it is one of the growing branches that improves its rate of placement every year.
Infrastructure: Facilities are very good. The only thing is that till now, the infrastructure is not up to NIT level, but new buildings are under construction for new classrooms and hostels also. A central library is also there, and the classrooms are decent. Hostel facilities include mess food, games, and I am not sure about Wi-Fi because I am a day scholar.
Faculty: Faculty are very good at their work and teach very well. They are not very strict. As I am a 1st year student, I have concluded that our curriculum is relevant and the 1st year syllabus is the same for all branches. Exam patterns are fixed. Each semester, they conduct two exams, mid-semester and end-of-semester, which are also not very difficult if you study well.
Other: Actually, I didn't choose my branch/course according to my rank. It was the only branch in my college that I was eligible for.

Living a good college life at NITRR.
Placements: Placements in this college are quite low in my department, which is Biotechnology. The placement percentage is 29 percent, according to some websites, but that is not so true. I think it is less than 20 percent, as I am not sure about that. The highest package offered is 13 LPA, and the lowest package offered is 4.3 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of my college is quite good, as I have visited the college of my friends, which does not have many facilities, like here. The hostel is available, but we can get it if we score a good CPI in the semester. Only a few students get a seat in the hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, obviously, as we are at a national-level institute where only students who have cracked the JEE get admission. It is very tough to get admission in an IIT or NIT. They are also helpful. If we have any doubts, then they will solve them after the lecture covers. I don't know about the relevance to the curriculum. Semester exams are quite easy in the first semester, but I got a supplementary in Maths, which I have cleared now.
Other: Students can take admission here if they are getting good branches, because placements of other branches are good.

Not a good placement in my department.
Placements: As a first-year biotechnology student, I got to know that only 20-30% percent placement is there in our course. The other seniors has choose to move for higher studies in India or abroad. The highest package offered is 13 LPA, the lowest is 3.70 LPA, and the average package is 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our college, NIT Raipur, provides good infrastructure in the biotechnology department, which contains well-equipped laboratories for our subjects like microbiology and other biotech subjects. There are 2 Wi-Fi networks in the college. The hostel facilities are pretty good, and the hostel food is also available, there is a canteen in the college called Vihaan.
Faculty: As a first-year student, I haven't studied with too many professors because in the first year, only temporary teachers teach us. And from the second year, the permanent faculty members and professor starts teaching us. A few of them studied at IITs. The passing mark is 35%. There is a relative marking.
Other: There is a fest called Eclectika, which is central India's biggest fest.

Satisfied with whatever I got because of my rank and hard work.
Placements: Placement in my branch is not good in the core. If you want to get a placement in biotechnology, acquire skills in non-core areas like AI/ML, DA, etc. Top recruiting companies are Google, Microsoft, Meta, Wipro, Infosys, etc. Job opportunities are not that good at the B.Tech level, higher studies are required.
Infrastructure: My college has lack of hostel, and my college is too old, that's why the main academic block infrastructure is not good, but new buildings like CCC and the sports complex are pretty good for students. The number of canteens is two, and the food is so bad, and lack of hygiene in the hostel also.
Faculty: Teachers are so helpful towards students and help us to get an internship. The course curriculum is so industry ready makes you ready for a job. Semester exams are such that you can pass the exam even after 1 day of study just before the exam. Just a few students really fail the exam.
Other: I chose this course because of my rank, I'm getting only this course in NIT Raipur. The course should focus on the job because we are joining B.Tech college for placement rather than research. Fest and all are good.

Decent college, mid-tier NIT, good in place, and friendly people.
Placements: In my course, most students go for higher studies. Those who want to do a job, there are lots of opportunities in non-core areas like Infosys, Microsoft, Wipro, Google, Meta, etc. There is a lack of placement in core, and very few companies come for placement at B.Tech level.
Infrastructure: College is very old, that's why the main academic building is not good in comparison to other private and NITs, but new buildings like CCC and the sports complex are so good and provide industry-level infrastructure for students. Canteens are also good, but there are only 2 canteens in the college.
Faculty: Teachers are so helpful and supportive towards students and very kind, they help very poor students to clear the exam by passing them with grace marks . Curriculum is good and relevant with industry. It makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not that tough, and most students easily pass the exam.
Other: I chose the course because I'm really interested in biotechnology. The best thing I like about this course is that biotechnology is the future. We need more advanced equipment for research. Events are so good, like Electrica, Samar, Shruti, E-summit, etc. Lots of scholarships like the government and private sources.

The college has very good infrastructure.
Placements: My name is Sheelu Saini, and I am in the Biotech branch of NIT Raipur. The total number of students in our batch is more than 1000, and in our course, the number of students is 80. I don't know the exact percentage, but in our course, it is very low. I don't know too much about the placement right now, but I will surely ask our seniors about this.
Infrastructure: Our academic building is good and has a classical shape. It was started in the year 1956 by the President of that time, Dr Rajendra Prasad. The facilities are good. We have many water coolers in our college. We have a lift in it for going to other floors. There is a central library in our course. The hostel food is okay, which means you can have it without any vomiting.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified. They have too much knowledge about their subject and its real-world use. Our course makes students ready for the industry. Students can work in labs. The semester exams are not too difficult for those who have studied well, but can be challenging for those who didn't study, not even before exams. There are 2 exams in every semester.
Other: I chose this course because I was not sure about leaving my home state. Companies should also visit our branch.

Good infrastructure with a strong network.
Placements: Hello Shiksha, this is Harsh Singh Rajput from Raipur (Chhattisgarh). I am pursuing B.Tech in biotechnology from NIT Raipur. The placements of our college are pretty nice. The average package of CSE lies between 10 and 11 LPA, whereas the biotech placement lies between 6 and 7 LPA. The placement in my course is not too much because there are no companies to visit our college in our area.
Infrastructure: I like the infrastructure of our college, but many people do not like it because of less campus area of our college. My college is just 100 acres, which looks very small for a top government college. There is a library where a lot of books are present, and students can do self-studies if they want. The hostel facilities are good. The food quality is also good, the mess timing is 1 pm to 3 pm for lunch and 7 pm to 9 pm for dinner.
Faculty: Faculty members are pretty impressive, I guess. They don't care if you are late to class, just sit and give attendance. But they are highly qualified and educated from IITs and many famous colleges of India. There are 3 exams in every semester. After 1 month of the start of the semester, there will be mid-semester exams, and after 3-4 months, there will be end semester exam, and after that, there will be a practical exam.
Other: If you are thinking of taking admission in this college, please go ahead.
