Why should you opt NITR as your career?
Placements: 60-70% students get placed. The highest package offered in this course was 17 Lacs and the lowest was 3.6 Lacs. Most of the students are opting for higher studies including research fields. Some of the students are opting for careers in PSU jobs while the others wish to build a career in civil services.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is marvelous. 24*7 Wi-Fi and electricity are available with air conditioned classrooms and library. There are smart classrooms with smart digital boards along with 24*7 CCTV surveillance. Clean washrooms and toilets are provided by the college. Mess is very clean and food qualities are average and are most importantly, tasty.
Faculty: Faculty members are very cooperative and friendly in nature. They always push the students forward. Whenever you need support, whether it's financial or academic, they are always available for you. If you have any doubt regarding the studies you can frankly ask them and they will surely help you out.

Our college offers excellent exposure for students to develop, regardless of their chosen course.
Placements: Many students got placed in our course. The average salary package offered is 20 LPA. Many top companies like Byju's, Unacademy, etc., visit our college. Some students get internships.
Infrastructure: Every department has its own building. Classrooms have air conditioners and projectors. Labs are well-equipped. Hostels have all facilities like a day and night canteen, gym, etc. The hostel rooms are very small. Medical facilities are available in our college.
Faculty: Teachers are very good. The teaching quality is fair. The course is not relevant in the first year. We have the new education policy syllabus, so the course is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult.
Other: Our college conducts many fests and events throughout the year. There are more than 100 clubs in our college.

Satisfied with the college and facilities, but dissatisfied with the job opportunities.
Placements: In my batch, around 50% of students got placed. It may also be due to the fact that many of the students were actually interested in doing PhD and not doing a job right away. The highest package offered was around 10 LPA, the lowest package was around 3 LPA, and the average package was around 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies were BYJU's, Aakash Institute, Chinmay Vidyalaya etc. The institute does not provide any internship support. So, you will have to find it yourself. Most of the students join other institutes such as IITs or any other research institutes. Getting internships in companies is really difficult, and you need to have a good connection. You have to get it on your own. Most of them are unpaid. Mostly teaching jobs are offered. Technical jobs are offered to B.Tech students. Management jobs are very rare.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was excellent. You will get more equipment than you will actually use. The classrooms and labs are all top-notch. The hostels are the best. It's not a typical private university but adequate. The food is bad, but that is expected. You have day and night canteens if you want. Sports and games facilities are excellent. Medical facilities are present but extremely beaurocratic.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified. They are knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good, but there are some average or below-average professors as well. The course curriculum is theoretical and not in sync with the industry, which affects the employability of the students. Semester exams are easy, and even if you are an average student, passing an exam should not be difficult unless you go to the exams without studying anything.
Other: I chose this college because it is affordable and is in my hometown. The teaching quality is good. This course is of my area of interest and the brand name which will help you till the end of your life. The campus connectivity, alumni, extracurricular activities, campus environment and surroundings are really excellent. The campus is lush green with some of the brightest people in the country, and that will broaden your worldview. Beaurocracy is one area where I think the college needs to improve. It takes a very long time to do even a simple task. Getting leaves are a nightmare, and it is easy to skip a class rather than leave. Medical officers are really pathetic (especially the chief medical officer) and will sometimes even abuse you. Apart from that, the course curriculum needs to be updated so that more people are encouraged to join the industry. Today, the course is designed well. Both the students as well as the professors will look down upon you. That is the biggest disadvantage. The department does not support you in this regard and considers academic excellence as the only parameter of success. There are very few professors who will actually support you in this regard, and you will know them when you join the course.

It is good for research or for higher studies, but it is not good for placements.
Placements: Our college provides the worst placements. The highest salary package offered in our course is 5.5 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered ranges between 3.5-3.8 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Akash, Virat, and TCS visit our campus for placements. Internships are mostly from IITs. Some students get an internship from HPCL and BARC. Mostly our course is not for placements, and it is research-oriented.
Infrastructure: You will get a single room in the hostel from the second or third year. The food served is good, clean and hygienic. Wi-Fi facility is available from evening 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next day morning. Wi-Fi facility is available all the time in some places. The canteen and restaurants are good enough. For medical facilities, you have to go any time to Apollo pharmacy, which is near the electrical department. Sports, games, swimming pool, a separate gym in each hostel, TV rooms and reading rooms are available in the hostel. Labs are good enough. Classrooms are modern here. The library is available from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Faculty: Some teachers in our college are experienced and knowledgeable. Some teachers are research-oriented. The course curriculum is relevant, but not all courses curriculum is relevant. It does make students industry-read. You could become industry-read only if you had a passion for doing a lab or publishing a research paper or article. Exams are tough, and getting an 8.5 GPA is a dream.
Other: About 89% of attendance is compulsory, or else grade back or debar need to be improved. Labs should be improved. I would rate 5 out of 5 for events, fests and extracurricular activities. If you had a real passion, you could join as research-oriented as it was good.

Overall, the college is good, and you will fall in love with it. There is good exposure too.
Placements: Placements in college are not as good as compared to the engineering department, but they are average. We will get only one placement, and it can be in any category. Here, the placements are classified into 3 categories, category 1 is companies offering less than 2.50 LPA packages, category 2 is companies offering more than 2.50 LPA and less than 4.50 LPA packages, and category 3 is companies offering packages greater than 4.50 LPA. Generally, we opt for the coaching industry or higher studies. Most of the seniors are pursuing PhDs and post-doctoral degrees in foreign countries. Around 90% of the students got placed, and the highest CTC offered till now is 5.40 LPA, the lowest is 2.50 LPA, and the average is 4.20 LPA. Adobe, Microsoft, Aakash Coaching, Rao IIT, Avanti-learning, TCS, Tata Steel and many companies visited the campus for placements. Mostly, we opt for coaching centres, and they recruit us as a trainee faculty. Almost 100% of the students got internships from college. One of my friends did an internship from NASA, and her name is Roshni Biswas. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 25,000 per month and the lowest was no stipend. We have a placement cell in college, and they work really hard for us 24*7.
Infrastructure: National Institute of Technology, Rourkela has the largest campus among all the NITs. We have lots of classrooms, but they are not open to all. Every classroom is a smart classroom. We have a central library with e-book facility and Wi-Fi connectivity. NITRKL provides free medical facilities. We have a central gym, and we also have a central swimming pool. Quality of food is not good. The hostel rooms are well-furnished, and the top-floors of some hostels have leakage problems.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is not good at all. They mostly use powerpoint presentations during classes. The faculty to student ratio is 1:20. We did not get any industrial exposure at all, and the curriculum was revised recently.
Other: Innovision is our technical fest, and it is the largest technical fest in north-east. NITRUtsav is our spring fest. The campus crowd is around 5,000 excepting faculty and staff. The campus surroundings are fabulous. Some scholarships are provided for needy students. Intra-hall competitions are conducted for self-improvement and exposure.

NITR is the best of all NITs.
Placements: Placements of my batch were pretty good in the college. We have a placement cell to take care of placement activities. We had a chance to attend placement drives of analytics, pharma and software companies. There were mock tests conducted in our college before the companies visit. Around 80% of the students in the batch were placed.
Infrastructure: The campus was Wi-Fi enabled, labs and classrooms. We also had a dispensary to cater to the medical needs. Quality of labs is okay, but classrooms are good. Quality of food in the canteen is awesome. Hostel rooms are good, and seniors are provided single rooms. We had the best infrastructure.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality was okay. Presentations and blackboard were used for teaching. The college took us to Rourkela steel plant for industrial visit. The curriculum was useful but could have been more practical-based.
Other: Many fests like tech fest, multi-ethnic fest and ISM are conducted in our college.

good college life ,infrastructure and placements
Placements: Above 95% were placed highest package is12lpa lowest package is 3lpa and average package is 6-7lpa , top companies vedantu , byju's , Allen almost 70% got interniships mainly in Tata oils , adani co. top roles offered are chemists and chemistry teachers
Infrastructure: Labs are pretty nice as new labs are made , library has almost all books related to your courses and others also along with nice wifi connection and classrooms are having a capacity of 160 students with touchscreen boards and whiteboard also . Hostels are really nice per room 2 members , having 2 study rooms , gym , sports room , art room , and for medical facilities we have Apollo hospital inside campus also mess food is good and day , night canteens are also available
Faculty: All faculties are well educand have PhD degrees and all teachers teach by touchinh the concept to the depth of it yes the course curriculum is relevant as we do so much lab works and theory works on specific and important topics making us ready for industry semester exams are pretty tough and passing percentage is 35%
Other: I am Interested in the course and it is the best one to enter the research area . I think they should add more chemisty field topics . Campus has more than 10000+ students scholarships are available from government and from college too there are 3 big fests but a lot of small fests also events like tech related health related sports related were organised every year

Bitter truth of NIT Rourkela.
Placements: Before joining NIT Rourkela, like many others, had the impression that its placement scenario was outstanding. It is one of the best among engineering colleges. However, after joining the institute, my perspective has shifted significantly. In reality, the placement scene share feels only marginally better than that of many private colleges. Contrary to expectations, a limited number of top-tier NIT-level companies actually visit the campus. Even among those that do, they must tend to focus solely on students from core branches like CS or other circuital branches. Leaving many other with far fewer opportunities.
Infrastructure: Here, the infrastructure is really poor and disgusting. Lab run in an old building and equipment. Libraries are small in comparison to the crowd. There has been no upgradation of labs over the last 20 years. Professors buy equipment from their own money if it is really required. Hostels are even more disgusting because of mess, small rooms and maintained building. Mess provides very hygienic food. Students should not be shocked when they see a spider or flies in their food.
Faculty: Faculty members are just to complete the course. It does not matter whether we get concepts or not. If I take my example, then in my one course, teachers do not come to teach, and they send assistant teachers, and they just do question and answer sessions in the lab. This happens in all branches. There are two-semester exams in one year, autumn and spring. Autumn is for 19 credits and 3 months with some vacation, and spring is for 21 credits and 4 months with no vacation.
Other: I chose this college because I am totally a fool and it depends upon the image of the college relatively. But the best thing is that we get much less time to waste. The course structures should be improved, and old courses must be removed. Events are average. Only 4 fests are organised, i.e., Inovvision, NITRUtsav, and Vridhi (spirits fest).
