B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2029

Good college and infrastructure, quite busy.
Placements: More than 90 percent of the students are placed here from Sathyabama, which is a major plus point on my side. The maximum package last year was 42 LPA, I guess so they provide even placement training on campus for an extra Rs. 30,000 for 2 years and it's quite good also, the skills are good.
Infrastructure: The college has advanced classrooms only for Computer Science courses others get a normal classroom. They get Wi-Fi on campus but not mobile data inside the classroom. CSE and specialisation even get individual computers and air-conditioned classrooms.
Faculty: The exams and semesters are pretty challenging. If you are an average student, the faculty only teaches the lessons and goes, but we want to study using online notes and no books are provided in college. They are uploaded in LMS. 50 percent is the pass percentage which is quite a lot.
Other: It is too crowded in every place.

SIST Chennai is a very special university.
Placements: In the last few years, what I have seen is that placements at SIST Chennai have been up manyfold. Top IT names and with the highest package clocking over 50 LPA, SIST Chennai is now a proven entity among South Indian Universities. Average package of ECE is around 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostels aren't that good, but overall infrastructure, needless to say, is so well planned. There are UK University-style buildings and a knowledge park, which has the university's largest cafeteria along with a library, a place to watch out for. Labs and classrooms are as modern as those in the universities in the US.
Faculty: Our faculty is skilled and highly knowledgeable. When both these qualities are present, one can expect no shortage in quality academics. They are very strict but at the same time, they are very helpful as well. Hardly any of my faculty members have thrown tantrums or shown attitude while teaching.
Other: SIST Chennai has this one little drawback, and that is the language challenge. There are many outsiders, but still Tamil is the most common language spoken on campus.

Excellent campus life, supportive faculty, and good placements.
Placements: Almost all students who attend placements get job offers. The highest package is 41 LPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA. More than half of the students in the course receive internships. Amazon offers the highest package, whereas Capgemini recruits many students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good, with well-equipped labs and classrooms. The library has almost every course-related book for students and research. As I hear from hostel students, the food and facilities are quite good for the fees.
Faculty: Faculty members are supportive and friendly. They are always ready to help students with their problems and studies. The curriculum covers core engineering concepts along with practical learning. It helps students understand the concepts more easily. The semester exams are moderately difficult and can be cleared with regular study.

The placements offering to our college are constantly decreasing due to both recession of jobs in the market, and lack of skill in the students.

Good infrastructure, highly educated and knowledgeable staff, and good placement.
Placements: The percentage of students placed from ECE is above 70 percent. The highest package is 40 LPA. The average package is 5 LPA. The top recruiting companies for ECE are Samsung and HCL. The top roles offered in ECE are Embedded Designer, VLSI Engineer, etc. Most of the students get their dream jobs in their dream companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are better compared to other colleges, with costly equipment and educated lab staff. Classrooms are spacious and comfortable. The Wi-Fi connection is poor around the college, but the labs that require Wi-Fi access can use the connection properly.
Faculty: Most of the staff members are highly educated and knowledgeable. Their way of teaching and explaining concepts are highly up to the mark. Semesters are not difficult if students have good internal marks, and the pass percentage is likely high. The passing percentage is 50%.
Other: Students who are more interested in the electrical side are likely to choose ECE. The best thing about this course is that it is in demand, as the industry needs more ECE engineers. The best thing about the college is the cultural activities. Every week, there are 3–4 events in different departments. The college provides opportunities for students to improve their talents. Scholarships are also provided to students.

An average college experience with good placements and opportunities for high-paying jobs.
Placements: Around 90–94% of students get placed. The company that offered the highest package recently provided around 41 LPA. On average, students get around 5.5 LPA, and entry-level jobs usually offer around 3–4 LPA depending on the company. Companies offering placements at Amazon, Oracle, Nokia, Siemens, Cognizant, Accenture, Capgemini, Infosys, Bosch, and Valeo. Many students get internships at companies like Nokia, Oracle, Siemens, Bosch, Schneider Electric, and Microchip. The roles offered include Software Engineer, Graduate Engineer Trainee, Embedded Engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The ECE department has good laboratories for VLSI, Embedded Systems, Communication Engineering, and Signal Processing. The department also has classrooms, Wi-Fi across the campus, a central library, and an LMS platform. The hostel facilities are comfortable. Cleaning staff visit the hostels every day, and security is available throughout the campus. The food in the mess and canteen is okay, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The college has sports facilities like a cricket ground, basketball court, and badminton court, though they are mostly used during tournaments.
Faculty: Faculty members in the ECE department are very helpful and approachable. They explain concepts clearly and encourage students to participate in projects, workshops, and technical events. The ECE department updates its curriculum regularly. It covers important industry areas like IoT, Embedded Systems, AI, and VLSI. Practical sessions and project-based learning are also part of the department. The semester exams are moderately difficult. It can be cleared with good internal marks and 80% attendance in ECE classes.
Other: What I like most about the course is learning about Embedded Systems, VLSI, IoT, and communication technologies. We also get opportunities to work in labs and on projects. It would be better if students got more opportunities to work with companies and earn specialized certificates in certain areas. The campus life is enjoyable. Many events like symposiums, cultural fests, workshops, hackathons, and club activities happen regularly.

It is an average experience for me.
Placements: The placements were average in 2024. After COVID, the placement percentage dropped significantly. The 2023 batch got really good placements. The real struggle began for our batch. We faced a lot of struggles during placements. The number of companies visiting the campus dropped by about 60%.
Infrastructure: The hostel and campus infrastructure were very good. The classrooms, library, and labs were well developed and well integrated. The food was also good and was served free of cost to both hostellers and non-hostellers. Even bus services were provided free of cost.
Faculty: The curriculum was satisfactory for some and disappointing for others. It was a hit or miss for my course. It mainly depended on teachers. Some were outstanding, others struggled to teach the subjects.
Other: It was a great experience with many unforgettable moments.

The college is totally worth the money and time in my opinion.
Placements: I am pursuing the Electronics and Communication batch (2023-2027). Three placement opportunities are very good for the course especially for students who are strong in their technical and communication skills. SDE is the top role offered in my college as a graduate.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is quite good. High-speed Wi-Fi is available in all the labs and the library. The food in the Sathyamaba canteen is good but the food in the mess is somewhat low quality and the mess has low maintenance.
Faculty: The faculty in our department is very helpful for the students in both academic and project work. Most faculty are well-qualified and knowledgeable and also have good teaching experience. The teaching quality is very good especially in the core subjects. The faculty members are very helpful to the students.

The college provides good academic knowledge and a disciplined environment for students.
Placements: The placement cell provides training programs, aptitude coaching, and interview guidance. It helps students improve their employability and career opportunities. The common role offered is Software Engineer. Around 70–80% of eligible students get placed through campus recruitment.
Infrastructure: College provides a comfortable environment for academics, hostel life, and extracurricular activities. Department has spacious classrooms, Wi-Fi connectivity, and well equipped laboratories. It has seminar halls and a useful central library with many books and digital resources.
Faculty: The curriculum covers core concepts, programming, lab sessions, mini projects, and emerging technologies. The pass percentage is generally good. Internal assessments, assignments, and practical exams also help students score better. Academic system is well structured and beneficial for students.
