Excellent placement opportunities and good infrastructure.

Placements: A minimum of 70% of students were placed in the core company in my course. Software companies like Cognizant, Accenture, TCS, and Capgemini are also hiring graduates of my course. So there are more opportunities for us to get placed. The lowest package is 2 LPA, and the highest package is 12 LPA.

Infrastructure: In my department, there are labs like the concrete technology lab, environment lab, CAD lab, soil mechanics lab, structural engineering lab, and highway engineering lab with good infrastructure. The food offered in the college mess is tasty and hygienic. There is a scheduled menu for every day with many varieties.

Faculty: The faculty members are very helpful and behave in a friendly manner. They help us to improve our skills. My course is relevant to the curriculum and it makes the student industry ready. The difficulty level of the semester exams here is medium. The pass percentage in my course is 80%.

Other: The student development cell is here, which consists of 40+ clubs that help find the various skills in the students. I'm also the president of a club (the Design Club). We are organizing events for the students that help showcase their talents.

The campus didn't make me industry-ready and the campus life was average.

Placements: Our batch had 5 sections and each class has an average of 60 students. We had our placements training and was provided to students who were interested to sit for placements. We didn't have any core company come up to our campus. I remember one core company coming to our nearby Jeppiar College and was applicable only for boys. We had an opportunity to attend IT company placements. I was placed via campus recruitment at an Indian MNC. I was the only one who got placed in our class. All together from the civil batch, we would have seen 5-7 placements and everything is in IT sector.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure was moderate. Wi-Fi wasn't enabled at the point when I was on campus. I loved the library and have spent a significant amount of time there and it had a pretty good collection. But for day scholars, we didn't get sufficient time to spend in the library.

Faculty: The curriculum didn't do justice after I started attending competitive exams. We are taught very basics. I also had issues with how a few staff members handled some subjects which were not their core strength and had struggle conveying. Semester exams aren't tough. Once you learn what's in the curriculum one can easily pass.

I am dissatisfied because of faculty members and placements.

Placements: The core company placements were rare in our core department. Most of our colleagues got placed in IT companies like HCL, TCS and Tech Mahindra after a year. The salary package offered is 4 LPA. The management didn't encourage internships.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure and facilities were good and spacious. You can access the library only in free hours. The hostel is very strict, and no mobile phones were allowed. Outside guests were not allowed. The food was good, but the medical facilities were average.

Faculty: Teachers were not up to the mark because most of them were recently graduated, like PG students. Most of the teachers were not fit to be faculty members. Teaching quality is the worst. Courses are outdated, and students need to learn from outside either internships or fellowships. Theory papers are average, but the core papers are tough. If you study hard, you can pass easily.

Other: For our course, I suggest appointing good faculty members who can shape good students. They should encourage students to perform internships, competitions and projects. They should also encourage students for entrepreneurship programs.

Review of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology.

Placements: Around 70% of the students got placed from a civil engineering course. The highest salary offered was Rs. 40,000 per month. Casagrand was the top recruiting company for our course. Role offered in our course was as a site engineer. The highest salary package offered in our course was 5 LPA. A student scored 97% in academics and was recruited by L&T company.

Infrastructure: We had good lab facilities with all testing equipment. There was a modern library with Wi-Fi facility. Our college had good environmental classrooms. We had a good mess facility which served vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Biryani was served on every Thursday. The canteen on our campus was also good with all chat items. Medical facility, along with the dental hospital was available. Management provided special care to students who participated in sports and games.

Faculty: Teachers in our college were very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality was very good when compared to civil departments in other colleges. The course curriculum was completely relevant, and it makes students get ready for the industry.

Other: I opted for this course because I got civil in my counselling. The college should provide more industrial visit for our course for betterment. Events and extracurricular activities held were extremely good. Scholarships were also provided by the college.

I am satisfied with teachers and food, but infrastructure and cleanliness are bad.

Placements: Placements for civil students are very low as compared to other departments. About 3 to 5% of the students will be placed in small companies. It is not the best college to study and get placed. Companies which visit here for placements of the civil department are of very low profile, and the names of companies are difficult to say.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of classrooms is average, and buildings are old and should be taken cared for. Restrooms are the worst, very dirty and mostly broken. The library is the best part of our college. Wi-Fi is available and restricted users. Civil labs are not big, but mostly all instruments will be available. Hostel rooms are below-average, and I would rate 3 out of 10 for them. Restrooms are like public toilets that are cleaned before a month. The mess is the best, and the food will be awesome. However, hygiene and clean will be bad. Medical facilities are good. If you are a sportsperson or like to play sport daily, then this college is not good.

Faculty: Teachers in our college are good, well-trained and educated. Teaching techniques for most of the staff members are good. Course curriculum activities are average. Events conducted by staff members or students will be once a year, and it will be average. Nothing innovative things will not be made.
