SMU - Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok is one of the premier institutions for courses in the field of Engineering, Medicine & Health Sciences and Business & Management Studies, etc. With a total of 130 courses, the institution has been recognised by ranking bodies, such as NIRF, India Today, Outlook, Outlook-ICARE. The University offers courses with a total tuition fees ranging from INR 44.7 K to INR 1.05 Cr.
Sikkim Manipal University conducts separate entrance tests, and Personal Interview (PI) rounds to evaluate the candidates. Candidates willing to apply for the BTech, MTech, and MCA must first apply for the University entrance test known as SMIT (Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology). However, candidates with a valid JEE Main and GATE score can apply at the University's official website. For those who have qualified SMIT, JEE Main or MET, counselling will be conducted separately for seat allotment. The candidates will also have to select their preferred course. SMIT 2025 seat allotment will be done by the authorities based on the candidate's rank and other factors.
Sikkim Manipal University is recognised by the UGC and is approved by various regulatory bodies. These include Medical Council of India, Nursing Council of India, Indian Association of Physiotherapy, All India Council for Technical Education, UGC and the Distance Education Council. SMU is the first ever Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the country for higher Education and Health Care services.
Sikkim Manipal University Gangtok offers admission to courses such as MBA on the basis of entrance exams such as CAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ CMAT/ University Entrance Exam or other equivalent national level examinations valid for the admission to MBA. Candidates must meet the cutoff criteria by securing valid scores in the selected entrance exam and qualify for the group discussion and personal interview. After qualifying all the rounds, candidates will be shortlisted for the final admission.
