SRM Institute of Science and Technology admissions are conducted on the basis of entrance tests. The admission for the flagship programs are held on the basis of SRMJEEE UG exam. Further, SRM MBA admissions are conducted on the basis of SRMJEEM test. The SRMJEEE PG test is conducted for the various SRMIST PG courses. The university also accepts scoring from nationally-held tests like CAT, TANCET, MAT, etc. for admissions.

SRM University conducts SRM JEE exam for admission to Engineering courses. The university does not accept scores for any other entrance exams. Also, direct admission is not valid either. Candidates are shortlisted for BTech and M.Tech based on their past academic records and scores obtained in the entrance exam.

The university fee structure is cumulative of several components, such as caution deposit, tuition fee, hostel fee, and more. A few of these components are one-time payable, while some have are charged annually/semesterly. SRM IST Chennai MBA tuition fee ranges between INR 1.9 Lacs and INR 11.5 lakh. Moreover, the one-time fee range between INR 1,200 and INR 11,000 and the hostel charges range between INR 1.45 Lacs and INR 3.3 lakh.

A range of entrance exam results are accepted by the SRM Institute of Hotel Management (SRM IHM) for admission to its undergraduate and graduate programs. The exact entrance exam that each programme requires to be admitted will differ from programme to program. SRM IHM will also take into consideration the applicant's employment history, extracurricular activities, and academic record in addition to the aforementioned factors when making an admissions decision. Even if a candidate's entrance exam score is marginally below the cutoff, admission to the programme is more likely to occur if they have a strong academic record and participate in relevant extracurricular activities.

SRM University Chennai offers Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses at the UG level in the Medical stream through NEET UG scores followed by round-wise NEET Counselling. As per SRM University Chennai cutoff 2024, the last-round closing rank was 195886 for admission to the MBBS course. The Round 1 closing rank for the same stood at 637582 for the students belonging to the General AI quota. 

For BDS admission, the NEET UG first and last-round closing ranks were 980273 and 980273, respectively.

No, SRM IST does not accept CUET score for admission to any of its UG & PG courses. The university conducts its in-house entrance exam for BTech and MTech, i.e., SRM JEE. Yes, admissions for the MBBS course in SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre are open. The application process for the MBBS course begins in October and closes in December. The selection process for the MBBS course is based on the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) score.
