Kerala University conducts an entrance exam for PG admission. For most of the UG programmes, admission is based on merit in the last qualifying exam. For MBA, the university accepts national or state-level entrance exams such as CAT, CMAT and KMAT. Yes, the University of Kerala has separate hostels for both boys and girls. There are six hostels under the University of Kerala at Kariavattom campus and at Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. Two boys (PG & Research) and three girls (Two PG & One Research) hostel at Kariavattom Campus and one girl hostel at Vazhuthacaud. Also, the university provides an International Youth Hostel to cater to the temporary residential needs of the students and faculty.
Kariavattom Campus of Kerala University has a playground where students play football, cricket and hockey. A Gymnasium and other facilities for participating in adventure sports are available in the Department of Physical Education which houses a stadium as well. The above facilities are open to all students without any reservation. A shuttle court, basketball court and facilities for indoor games are also available at the campus.
