IIT Delhi establishes Lab Facility on AI for Judiciary

IIT Delhi has already started a Centre of Excellence for Law and Technology and it is in the process of signing an MoU with National Law University (NLU) Delhi for research and innovation.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has started a lab facility on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Judiciary at the campus.
 
The institute welcomed the use of technology in Judiciary. Ramgopal Rao, Director of the institute said that the IIT Delhi already set a Centre of Excellence for Law and Technology and it is in the process of signing an MoU with  National Law University (NLU) Delhi for research and innovation comprising outreach & courses, joint projects, innovations & start-ups.According to Rao both the parties will work closely on several aspects related to Law and Technology.
 
 
As per a release issued by IIT Delhi, the inauguration of UJF Lab Facility on AI for Judiciary is a promising move for synergy of judicial functioning and technolgy. "IIT Delhi has experties in Machine Learning, Operations Research, Management Science, and data/Modeling," stated the statement by IIT Delhi.

Justice S. Ravindra Bhat while launching the lab said: “We must craft the safeguards around the use of AI for public function and ensure that the element of human discretion remains wherever required and definitely at each level where important decisions are made. This will ensure that at the very least discriminatory decision making can be appealed and responsibility determined. Ultimately technology must aid judicial functioning and accessibility and not create ground for further exclusion.”

Practically speaking there is no difference between these two degrees. Both connote degree in engineering.

DTU and IIT delhi are both topmost universities available in India. The placements given to these university students are also good. The infra is quite good for both the universities, hence the comparison between them is not possible. In the end, it depends on students what is best for them.
