B.Sc. (Hons.) in Botany - Batch of 2026

It is a good college in terms of faculty and the infrastructure of labs and facilities.
Placements: Only commerce students secured placements. Placement opportunities in science fields are very limited. From B.Sc. Botany honors, the number of placements is very low. Not many students received placements from the college. Internships are mainly available in marketing and business through the placement cell.
Infrastructure: There is no hostel in Gargi College. The labs and classrooms have good infrastructure. Wi-Fi is available in the labs. The library is well organized and usually has all the books, but copies are limited. The canteen food is average and needs improvement.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and supportive, well-qualified, and experienced in their subjects. This course lacks some skills that could make students industry-ready. Semester examinations are average and easy to pass. A minimum of 40 or 45% is required to pass.
Other: This course is interesting and led me to explore new ways of learning and research in science. Internship and skills should be provided for better understanding by the college. Fests are good.

Overall, my experience is nice.
Placements: Few students get placements through this course. The package offered ranges from 6-7 LPA. Teaching institutes like Aakash, PW, ALLEN, and Approaches hire students. Mainly after this course, one can go with teaching, research and civil services exams as well.
Infrastructure: It has a good infrastructure compared to the rest of colleges of DU. AC is available in classrooms. It has a good library but there is no Wi-Fi. It has nice sports facilities, NCC and medical facilities. The canteen is also nice. Personally, I like the dosa and don't know about the current scenario.
Faculty: Teachers are really good and helpful. Our problems are just a knock away and one can get help. The course is nice but it is not an industrial approach. Semester exams are easy but just work hard and efficiently. One can easily score more than 7 CGPA. The pass percentage is 95%.
Other: I just wanted to explore plant science and the plant world, so I chose it. Overall, everything is good about the college like fests, events, and everything. The location is also precise and not too crowded.

Everything is completely nice and beautiful on the south campus and in Garigi College.
Placements: 50-60% of students were placed. Many placement options were there for different areas and different jobs. Most of the placements were related to sales manager, digital marketing manager, project manager, and intern. You can join NGOs for civil work and teach in schools.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was quite nice. We had clean labs with all the instrumentation, and the library had all the books needed for our course. Classrooms are big and clean. Canteen food is also nice. NCC is there for the students who want to join the civil services.
Faculty: Teachers were very helpful. Exams were strict and in a very managed way. Teachers provide full notes and also books from the library. There is a herbarium room as well for Botany students to SEE the reserved plants. Lab staff are very helpful during practical exams.
Other: South campus is a very open area, not very crowded, and affordable PGs nearby. Many events, scholarships, and extracurricular activities were there.

Gargi the unforgettable part of my life.
Placements: As I was in science stream, less placements for the science students as far as I know but other courses students were placed. Don't know the exact figure but there was a placement cell in our college that really worked hard to make skills better for the students.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure and facilities were amazing at Gargi. No shortage of lab equipments and chemicals. All were available whenever we needed them. Canteen at Gargi also served amazing delicious food. Nestle, ice tea, and maggi were our go to food as they taste amazing.
Faculty: Teachers were so good here. All of them were my favourite. They were so helpful and considerate of us like a friend. They were always ready to explain our doubts as many times as we asked. They explain to us in the simplest ways. Exams were always difficult to moderate level as there were every category of students in the class. But teachers explained to us so well that all of us passed the exams with good numbers.
Other: Okay, so I really have a huge interest in plants that's my only reason to choose this particular course. Botany was a diverse subject not only about plants but every other component associated with it like microbes, animals, humans, etc.

Absolutely satisfied because of its faculty members and their infrastructure.
Placements: About 30% of students were placed. The highest average package was 10 LPA. Companies such as corporates like Boston Consulting Group, Brain and Companies were recruiting the students. 40% of students got internships. Research analyst like roles offered by our course.
Infrastructure: It had a departmental library to meet the needs of the students and faculty members. It also had internet facility for staff and students. Gargi College had a Wi-Fi-enabled campus. The department had a museum (plant specimens with barcodes). Hostel was not there.
Faculty: Teachers were very helpful, generous, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality was awesome. Semester exams were little bit tough. They properly guided students for higher exams. They were described as resourceful, well-networked, and dedicated to research and mentorship, often engaging in inter-disciplinary practices and faculty lecture series.
Other: I chose this course because I like stress and the nature vibe. The best thing about my course was the faculty members of my department. I wish I had improved my percentage. The fests and events were delightful. The campus crowd gives the all-girl vibes.

Good college, strongly recommend for girls, the safest as well.
Placements: Almost 50% got placements, and others are in good places too. As I am also from those students who could not get placement, but now I am doing a Master's from Delhi University, leading to a good life, I am looking forward to joining any institution for the post of assistant professor.
Infrastructure: Awesome infrastructure, as we may feel delighted after seeing the college. Labs are very well designed for students as they value the time of both student and staff and they have a managed library and labs. About air-conditioning, it is more than value for money for us.
Faculty: Exams are also conducted nicely, but they cut marks without any reason. We are cute students. They should give a little extra mark for our cuteness as a reward for being their students, as we know students also have high values. We love the college, but it gives us memories that we regret about not being able to join college for the rest of our lives.
Other: I like the course because I like botany, that's it.

I'm satisfied with curriculum, faculty members, and good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Gargi College, Delhi University has its placement cell which facilitates opportunities for their undergraduate and postgraduate students. They do organize training sessions, workshops seminars, and webinars which are necessary for their student's skills and confidence. The estimated count can be 60%-90% of students. The average expected salary can be from 4 LPA-13 LPA approximately. Placements are a little low in botany courses as students have to complete an M.Sc. or higher degree qualification to get placed. Top roles offered by the degree of botany are agricultural scientists, biostatisticians, botanical researchers, botanists, ecologists, geneticists, horticulturists, lab assistants, naturalists, plant pathologists, and plant taxonomists. Top roles offered by the botany course.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are quite good and furnished. The botany department provides a botany lab, bioinformatics lab, botany museum, botanical garden, and departmental library. They do provide internet facilities like Wi-Fi enabled campus but they do have jammers. Laboratory is spacious, well-ventilated, equipped with all necessary equipment and academic resources, and specimens. They don't provide any hostel facilities. College has a cafeteria and canteen.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable with higher degree qualifications i.e. Ph.D. Course curriculum is oriented they mainly focus on plant sciences with modern biology environment studies. They assess students with both theoretical and practical aspects of the curriculum. The exam structure of internal assessment includes assignments, tests, and attendance. External practical assessments are based on records, comments, diagrams. For theory, exams are moderate to difficult with challenging questions but are from Python.
Other: Students having an interest in plants, passion for plants, environmental concerns, interest in botanical research career opportunities, and interdisciplinary nature must opt for botany hons.

A good college, go for it, and students can explore more when they get into it.
Placements: I'm from Gargi College pursuing B.Sc. Botany honours. Placements are a little low in our course as students have to complete an M.Sc too to get placed. After M.Sc, the salary packages offered depend upon the field that we choose like if I get into a research field I will get up to Rs. 40,000- Rs. 50,000 per month. I can also work as a professor and earn Rs. 70,000 - Rs. 80,000 per month. Students can also work in pharmaceutical companies, botany research labs, food companies, and many more. Approximately 75% of students got internships after M.Sc.
Infrastructure: Facilities are the best in my college. We have free Wi-Fi, and the classrooms are big. Library has all the books, and we can rent a book as per need. Unluckily, there is no hostel at DU, students have to live in PGs or flats. The college has a canteen with affordable food prices. There is a medical room for emergencies. We have a large playground for basketball, cricket, and badminton matches. Labs are large and clean with all performing equipment.
Faculty: Teachers are very supportive, knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. We can ask for career options, and they guide us well. All the teachers have done their M.Sc and Ph.D.s. The teaching quality is excellent. Semester exams are average to difficult level. They conduct practical, Viva, and tests. Attendance of 75% is compulsory, and the passing percentage depends on the students.
Other: I chose this course because I want to explore the research field. There are so many events and societies in our college. Students can take part in any of them according to their interests.
