B.Tech. in Food Technology - Batch of 2028
3.0
Not so good average engineering institution and placement opportunities are at its average level.
Placements: In my course, percentage of students getting placements is more than 60%. Companies like Keventer, Cognizant, Coca-Cola, etc., are the recruiting companies. We can get roles in food safety and compliance, production and processing, research and development, packaging and reservation, etc.
Infrastructure: Facilities available for food technology students. Non-AC classrooms are there. Labs have ACs and library can be accessed during college hours. Hostel facilities are also good. Food available is also hygienic and canteen too. There are sick rooms for medical issues and we have good sports facilities too.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are mostly Ph.D. holders. They are helpful and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is excellent. This course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not that difficult and every student gets pass through it.
Other: This course is a future demand. This course is very industry-related. Everything is good about this course. Events are held every year, it may be college fests or department events. Campus is huge so the crowd is not that much. Campus is surrounded by trees, garden, and greenery.

Honest opinion about GNIT : why you should not choose it.
Placements: Only a few students get placed with a very minimal salary package of 3 LPA. In most cases, students get placed at a local company named Keventer. The salary offered ranges from Rs. 15,000-20,000 per month. Almost 80% of our seniors got placed. If students want to choose food technology at this college, I would recommend opting for M.Tech from JU or other top colleges. The most common companies like TCS, Capgemini, and Cognizant provide IT jobs every year during campus placements.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi connection is very poor. Students can never get a good network speed from free Wi-Fi. Labs are decent. Not all classrooms, but, a few numbers of smart rooms are there that have projectors, audio systems, etc. The library does not have much collection of books and most of them have outdated syllabus. The only thing is you get help from the previous year's question papers. Hostel infrastructure is not well maintained. Especially the food available there is not of good quality.
Faculty: Teachers are well-educated. Most of them pursued their master's and PhD from JU and some from IITs. The course curriculum is not relevant and will not help students in interviews or get any practical knowledge. It also does not provide students with any industry skills they can apply at their work. Exams are conducted very often. But exams are not difficult at all. Rather, if we study before 3 to 4 days, we can still score well.
Other: Events are organised very often. An annual fest Euphynous named Zyzzva is organised. Every department has its own technical fests like Techverse, Electrophoria, Food Envision, etc. The campus is quite big. Students run different societies and clubs like eco club, music club, and other sports clubs too.

GNIT is the best college.
Placements: After higher secondary examination, around 75% of science background students are eligible for the B.Tech engineering food technology course. The highest salary package offered in the course is 4.5 LPA. Top-branded recruiting companies are Britannia, Bengal Becarage, Pepsico, Nestled, and Ganesh
Infrastructure: There are many facilities like a lab, a library, Wi-Fi, and meals throughout the day. A girls' hostel is on campus. There is a warden and a canteen. All time meal is provided. There are facilities for medical purposes. In between the campus, there is a playground.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They are always helpful towards our education. There are no semester exams in this college. We only have yearly exams, and they are quite difficult for us. The pass percentage of exams is 50%.
Other: Food technology graduates have career options in diverse fields like restaurants, hospitals, food processing corporations, beverage manufacturing enterprises, food factories, catering, package food enterprises, and food research laboratories. Fields of study and research in food technology include analytical chemistry. Food technology is a branch of food science that addresses the production, preservation, quality control, and research and development of food products. It may also be understood as the Science of ensuring that a society is food secure and has access to safe food that meets quality standards.

All about GNIT - your dream college.
Placements: The placement rate in our college is very good; every year above 85% of students got placed from campus. The highest package given is like 2 Lacs p.a. The lowest package is 3 Lacs p.a. Average is around 5-7 Lacs p.a. Top recruiting companies for our department are Coca-Cola, Keventer, Sobisco, Nestle, etc. Every student is helped to get internship from the college to companies like Raja Biscuit and PepsiCo. Top roles offered are lab assistant, quality checker, and production manager.
Infrastructure: The campus has a Wi-Fi connection, labs have all the required equipment, classrooms are big, and smart classrooms are also there. We have a library in our college where many different genres of books and journals are present for students to read. Hostel facilities are given to the students by the college; rooms are spacious and clean. Food quality is good. Medical facilities are available inside the college—from first aid kits to ambulances, all are there. Sports are given much attention in our college; tournaments are being organised by the college for different sports.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and guide students whenever they need, and they are highly qualified with degrees and years of experience. The teaching quality is very nice; all the topics are made clear. The course curriculum is perfect, and it makes the students ready for industry work. The exams are a little difficult, but if students pay attention to their studies, then it will not be stressful; the pass percentage is 33%.
Other: I chose this course because I was interested in food technology. I wanted to learn about the food industry in India. The best thing about our course is that it is very much growing in today's time. I think if more food-based subjects are taught and more labs about different other food industries are taken, then it would be good. Every year we have an annual festival organised by our college. Many different known celebrities visit college, and we have a good evening there. Scholarships are available in our college for students.

Overall, I've had a great experience at GNIT.
Placements: The placement in our college is overall good. To be eligible for placements, you will need to have a minimum of 75 percent attendance in all semesters and also maintain a CGPA of 7.5+. Apart from that, you also need to have 60 percent marks in your class X and XII board examinations.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really good. We have proper classrooms with smart boards, projectors, and so on. We have a neat and clean library with helpful librarians. We also have different labs at GNIT, such as the Professional Communication Lab, Food Processing Lab, R&D Lab, Microbiology Lab, and so on.
Faculty: We have great faculty members who are very friendly. The faculty members are quite knowledgeable and qualified, holding a Master's degree, and most of them even hold a Ph.D. degree as well. Their guidance is not limited to bookish knowledge and just completing the syllabus, but they also provide knowledge that will actually help you in real life, at the industry level, and also during your placements. However, some teachers are knowledgeable enough but are only in a hurry to finish the syllabus and do not guide you on real-life implementation or how things work in the practical world.

Not a good college but it could have been better.
Placements: The placements are not that great for our branch or course. There should have been some opportunity for us on campus placements. But they're not unfortunately for our B.Tech food technology course. But for food technology, there's hardly any opportunity in the state.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good but it is not well maintained. The college is taking a huge amount of money from the students but unfortunately, the maintenance of the college and the hostel has not been done properly. That is the reason why there is no air-conditioned in the classrooms except for the halls or conference seminar rooms.
Faculty: Faculty is nice and good but there is a frequent change always happening in the faculty room. The curriculum is good and it is an autonomous college so, the curriculum set is alright. About the exams, it's properly handled by the examiner and college.
Other: There is a very high demand for money over you. Regarding the crowd and campus life, it is good that the campus is quite large. If you have a lot of friends, there is a pond to chill around and you can have a good time on campus.

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology is the best college.
Placements: Most average and good students were placed from our college. The highest package offered is 6 lakhs, the lowest is 4 lakhs and the average is 5 lakhs offered in our course. Parle and Nestle are top recruiting companies. At least 50% of students from our course got placed in Parle and other local food manufacturing companies.
Infrastructure: In our college, all the floors are covered by Wi-Fi with limited speed and there are lots of laboratories for various departments. Classrooms are well maintained and well decorated. The library is also properly well maintained. I don't stay in hostel so do not know about it.
Faculty: All the teachers are helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes the students industry ready. Semesters are a bit hard for students.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in studying different types of food products and how they are processed properly. The best thing about our course is to prepare of foods. The college lab requires more equipment and the practical period should be extended. Many events and extracurricular activities are conducted in our college. Scholarship is given to those who perform good in exam. Connectivity and campus crowd are good.

Absolutely satisfied with the helpful faculty, good placements, and modern infrastructure.
Placements: More or less about 80% of students got placed in various companies like Coca Cola, Nestle, Parle, Keventer etc. Every student gets the opportunity to do their industrial training or internship at least once, and sometimes, it is more than one time. Reputed companies like Dream Bake, Parle, Mother Dairy, Amul, Keventer, etc., come here. Students get a chance to go for industrial training. After completion of the course, one can get a job in the food industry in the quality department, production department, FSMS department and R&D department.
Infrastructure: The college has wonderful infrastructure and facilities. In our department, the labs are extremely updated, with modern equipment and machines. The library is very good and has an abundance of various books. Our college has its own hostel. A large canteen is available. We can get a huge variety of food from there.
Faculty: The teachers are extremely helpful. They always try their best to guide us. There are many kinds of seminars and industrial visits organized by our departmental teachers. It really builds up the bridge or real knowledge between our course and industry.
