B.Tech. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering - Batch of 2025
4.4
It was the best period of my life to spend such a memorable time there.
Placements: 65% of students get placed in my batch. The highest package is 37 LPA Texas Instruments, the lowest is 5 LPA, and the average is 10 LPA. The top recruiting company is Texas Instruments. 20% get internships, mostly in IITs, some in foreign universities, and a few in the industry. The top role offered is Analog Engineer.
Infrastructure: Labs are good. The library has a high-speed Wi-Fi connection. Classrooms are very comfortable, with soundproof walls. The food in the hostel is below average in the first year but gradually improves. Table tennis is available in the hostel. For cricket and football, there are Oval and Lord's grounds.
Faculty: The teaching quality is average, but professors are well-qualified. The course curriculum is relevant and makes me industry-ready. The semester exam is chill for me, mostly, previous year's questions repeat in the exam. The passing grade for the semester exam is 4 SGPA.

IIEST Shibpur- A brief overview.
Placements: Placements in IIEST Shibpur are decent. There are both on-campus as well as off-campus placements. Reputed companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Texas Instruments visit our college for recruitment. The average package is around 7.5-8 lacs per annum, and the highest package touches 50+ lacs per annum. Generally more than 75% of students get placed.
Infrastructure: Since both the semiconductor and telecom sectors are on the rise recently, I have opted for the Electronics and Telecommunication course. The curriculum here is well suited to the needs of the industry and for higher studies as well. As in teaching methods, professors could also use projectors and smart boards instead of whiteboards or blackboards. A library named Ramanujan Library is also there.
Faculty: Professors of all the courses are well-trained and highly qualified. While most of them are helpful and solve students, doubts when approached, a few of them are not so. Class schedule is generally hectic on some days, with lots of assignments given. Generally, mid-semester exams are on the easier side as compared to end-semester ones.
Other: Extracurricular activities are given as much priority as academics at IIEST Shibpur, and this is where clubs come into play. We have clubs for dancing, singing, debating, coding, photography, and many more. A variety of fests are also held in our college. Instruo—the tech fest—is held in January, while Rebecca—the cultural fest—is held in April.

Learnt a lot about myself.
Placements: One of the best Engineering colleges in West Bengal and one of the oldest in India for Engineering. The research opportunities are very good, but the placements are not that great! The top recruiting companies are PWC, TCS, as they take most of the students, but also in our time, companies like Google, Texas Instruments visited the campus. The highest package was 45 Lacs and the lowest was 3.3 Lacs.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not on par with IITs, but it is getting better. The hostels are very old, but a new hostel building is under construction. All facilities are provided, like Wi-Fi, labs, and the library is accessible to students all the time. You will get the basic facilities at the hostel. The mess food is good and basic medical facilities are also provided.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are helpful and very knowledgeable. The course curriculum is very relevant. The exams are tough, but if you study well, you will ace it as the questions come mostly from classes. The pass percentage is around 95 percent. Rely on previous year papers, as they are also a good source to pass the exams.
Other: I chose Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering because it has a lot of scope. I would like the placements to be better.

IIEST college review for ETC department
Placements: About 90% of the batch got placed, and the highest package is 56 lakh. The average package is about 20 LPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA. Top recruiters include Microsoft, Google, Tata, and Atlassian. Almost every student got internships at Microsoft, Google, Texas, etc. For Electronics, last year, 36 lakh was the maximum campus package.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is present all over the campus, and the campus greenery is fascinating and attractive. Labs, classrooms, and the library are all above average. The infrastructure is old, but work is in progress to renovate and create new buildings. Overall, it is good now. The food quality of the mess and canteen is good, as students have the authority to choose what they want for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, if it exceeds the mess charges, then all students have to share the extra charges. The sports facility is great here, with almost all sports available, along with a swimming pool.
Faculty: Professors are really good, overqualified, and knowledgeable. Their teaching methods are good and in easy and simple language. The curriculum is good and upgraded according to industrial uses. The semester exams are moderately tough, but if you listen to the professors carefully, you can definitely get good marks.
Other: I can get both government and private opportunities in ETC, so I chose this. For my branch, the companies visiting the campus are very few, which is a problem to be fixed. Just improving the infrastructure would make all fests and events better.

Review of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology.
Placements: I'm still in my early years at IIEST, Shibpur studying Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, but I have heard great things about our placements. Apparently, most students from recent batches got placed. Some landed really high packages (up to 45 LPA). Different companies like Microsoft, Texas Instruments, and Tata offer placements here and internship opportunities are high.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good but could be better. Washrooms need to be maintained properly. 1st-year hostels are not good enough. Mess food is not of good quality. Although Ramanujan Central Library has lots of helpful books. There are 4 canteens and most of them are good.
Faculty: Faculty is good but classes are not good enough. I am sure professors are really good in their fields but most of them can't do teaching. We have to rely on books and YouTube. Semesters are compared to other colleges. Although it is a little bit old. We have to constantly polish ourselves.
Other: I chose this as an alternative to IIT. I heard that the ETC department is good here. So I chose it so I can prepare for my postgraduate. Fests and events are really good here.

Our college is full of greenery. With good campus and supporting professors and seniors.
Placements: Approximately 80 percent of the students are placed from our department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and the average salary of our department is 16 LPA and multinational that hire us are Google, Microsoft, Texas, HP etc.
Infrastructure: There is an option of free Wi-Fi in our hostel but the accommodation is not so good with old buildings and not so good Ed's and equipment and living space is very small accommodating 4 people in a single room of 2 by 2. The mess food is particularly good compared to other things.
Faculty: Faculty members are good in our department with a high level of education as well as giving good support in our studies. And they take exams very seriously, conducting class tests per week as well as giving sheets for practicing problems. But there is one problem with some teachers; they are not so good and need to be changed, but there is no option of voting against the teacher.

A college rich in heritage and legacy, provides excellent value for money.
Placements: Around 90% students get placed in Electronics and Telecommunication. Top recruiting companies include Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Deutsche Bank, Atlassian for software and Texas Instruments (39 LPA) and Synopsys (22 LPA) for core domains. The highest package is offered by Texas Instruments which is 39lpa and the average package is 16.5 Lacs for Electronics and Telecommunication. Everyone gets internship through college placement cell as it is mandatory for the coursework however internships with stipend are hard to come by. Top roles offered are SDE and Analog and Digital Design Engineer.
Infrastructure: The department facilities are good as they are recently renovated with new equipments and ample space. Fast and reliable Wi-Fi connection is provided all throughout the department. The classrooms are non-AC (only few departments like EE and Mining have AC classrooms) and have a gallery like structure so everyone gets a good view of the professor and the board. However, the hostels are inb very poor condition with chunks of ceiling falling off and heavy waterlogging during monsoon. Not everyone can get a hostel as the college is not yet fully residential. While applying for hostel, the distance of your home address mentioned on your aadhar card from the college will be taken into consideration with the farthest being given the highest priority.
Faculty: While preparing for exams, one cannot rely on the professors teaching and would have to resort to other materials and YouTube. There is a communication gap between the professors and the teachers as most of them are not very fluent in English . The course curriculum is however regularly updated to make it industry relevant and does help in placements. The semester exams are not very tough but few subjects can be tricky and have a lesser pass percentage compared to others. Overall the pass percentage stands at around 80%. .
Other: Electronics and Telecommunication provides a perfect balance between the software and core domains thus opening up a wide range of opportunities. As is evident from the placement Statistics an average of 16.5 Lacs is quite competitive in regards to the top colleges of india. Since this college is almost 150 years old, the infrastructure is seriously lacking which can SEE quite an improvement in the coming years. The college fest REBECA is one of the oldest college fests in india and speaks volumes of the rich and cultural heritage of the college. Spanning across four nights, each and every part of india is represented through the events. The college crowd is energetic and dynamic and provides a good exposure. The college is situated on the banks of river Hooghly and is well connected to the city of Kolkata. Scholarship is provided on need cum merit basis along with fee waivers for low income household students.
