B.Tech. in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering - Batch of 2028

NIT Silchar is good in placements and campus life. City life is poor, that's all.
Placements: My batch is Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, in which about 90% of students are getting placed with an average package of 15 LPA. Top recruiters are Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. The highest package is 60 LPA, and the lowest package is 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: Facilities of the hostel and the infrastructure of the Electronics and Instrumentation branch are very good, even EI is known as the coolest branch of NIT Silchar. The food quality of the hostel is above average. Canteen is good but a little bit cheaper, and vegetarians may face problems.
Faculty: Faculty members at the National Institute of Technology are good. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable, few faculties are among the top 2% of scientists. The course curriculum is fantastic, but the semesters are a little bit tougher than other colleges, but overall good.
Other: NIT Silchar is heaven on earth.

Decent placement ratio in 2025.
Placements: 60+ out of 84 students from my branch are in the 2025 passing batch. The highest package this year was 44 LPA for the 2021-2025 batch. The average package is above 13 LPA, which is average. The top recruiting companies are Amazon, Swiggy, and Microsoft. The ratio of placement for mechanical engineering students has increased, and the scene has gotten better.
Infrastructure: All classes are digital classrooms. Labs are decent. My department is very good, with enough instruments available for experiments. The Wi-Fi provided by the library is good. However, we have LAN in the hostel, and we don't have a Wi-Fi connection. The mess food is average. There is a medical dispensary right next to the girls' hostel. The sports facilities are also good.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and very knowledgeable. It is good to be in contact with them for greater insight into career options. The teaching quality is above average. Some teachers are surely not good. They just don't put effort into teaching, but the rest are excellent. My course prepares students for both teaching and core placements as it provides opportunities for both. Semester exams are not too tough to pass, but they need a good amount of preparation to pass the subject. The pass percentage is more than 90% for my branch.
Other: I chose this course as it provides me with core and teaching opportunities. It is easy, and I can explore a lot here because it is still growing. It would be better if the course could be a little updated. Events and fests keep taking place all year round. But this year, our annual fest was not good. Connectivity is not that good. It is an open campus.

College is good. Connectivity to the city is not so good. All other things are good.
Placements: Electronics and instrumentation branch is a very chill branch. Professors are good and seniors are very helpful and active in this branch. Famous recruiters are Oracle, Flipkart, and Atlassian. 90% of students got placed. The median salary is 14 LPA. The average salary is 23 LPA. The highest salary is around 53 LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is not as good as I expected. But the college is full of greenery. We get the best hostel for the first year separately. Cleanliness is good, but hostel food is the worst. For pure veggies, it is not easy to survive, mostly paneer is given at dinner.
Faculty: NIT Silchar is a very active college. All sports activities are here. You will definitely get the extra edge in other curriculum.
Other: College fests are best. Many popular artists visit here like Monali Thakur. Since it is located in North East, you will get to know about North East culture. But during Holi and Diwali, you will just get 1 day of holiday for Diwali. There are also so many clubs, you can join like Obettivo for photography, Sympho for arts and literature, Needs for robotics, ML club, and so many.

First-year overview of NITS.
Placements: Almost 75% of students get placed every year in IT sector as well as core jobs. The highest salary package offered is 1 crore per annum. A large number of students get recruited every year and also students get internships in the third year. Roles offered in the course are engineer, scientist, programmer analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: Classrooms have projectors and whiteboards. The lecture halls are huge and well-maintained. There are Wi-Fi connections. Hostels rooms are pretty average with low maintained infrastructure. The food in the mess is also pretty average and better than the stereotypical mess food.
Faculty: Professors are highly qualified and knowledgeable, but it depends on the professors how they'll behave. The course offers all-round engineering experience. Though it is backdated but still relevant. The difficulty of the subjects and exams varies from easy to moderate.
Other: The best thing about the course is placements. One thing is the course needs to be improved as the course should remain updated with the industry standards. Dozens of events are organised throughout the year and the alumni network is strong too.

Absolutely satisfied by value of money, placements are really good, amazing faculty.
Placements: Placement in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is really good. Last year, the average package was about 14 LPA, and the highest package was 52 LPA. This is a fast-growing branch of NIT Silchar. The placement percentage is about 85-90%. Professors are really helpful.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our department is really amazing. Since this is the new branch of our college, it is fast-growing. Labs are really amazing, and all equipment is present in the labs. The infrastructure of our hostel is very nice, since our hostel is also new, that is, Aryabhatta hostel. Everything is good, but mess food is not too good; otherwise, all is fine.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified from top universities of India. They are really helpful, and the curriculum is good. The curriculum is good, and there are some subjects which make the students ready for industry. The semester exams are not too tough if you study regularly. It is very easy to score good marks.

A worthy college: NIT silchar .
Placements: Our branch, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, is mainly one through which we can go towards both the technical and core fields. The placement of our branch is very good. Last year, there was 90 percent placement of total students, with the highest package of 56 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good, with hostels having their individual mess with food thrice a day and snacks once a day. The rooms have a bed, cupboard, fan, and light for each individual. The rooms are double-seater. There are 24/7 LAN facilities in the hostel for the students.
Faculty: In our college, there are two major exams: the mid-semester and end-semester exams. The mid-semester is worth 30 marks, and the end-semester is worth 50 marks. The remaining 20 marks depend upon minor exams, attendance, and class attention. There are lab exams also in college.
Other: There is a great emphasis on extracurricular activities in the college. There are two major fests: the technical fest and the cultural fest. There are many clubs and societies to enhance the skills of the students. There are NGO clubs also to improve the living conditions of people in nearby villages.

I am satisfied with the faculty, but the infrastructure and facilities didn't meet my expectations.
Placements: Almost 60% of students were placed until now. Placements are still going on smoothly. The highest salary package offered till now is 30 LPA. The average salary package offered is 10 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Flipkart, Cisco, Optum, etc. Around 40% of students got internships in companies like Amazon, Flipkart, ZS Associate, etc. Top roles offered are SDE, data analyst, full-stack developer, GET, etc.
Infrastructure: We have Asia's 2nd largest digital library that consists of centralised air conditioning with the availability of various books. Every semester, they provide 4-5 books to every student. Labs and classrooms are well-furnished with projectors and CCTVs. Wi-Fi is decent for daily work, but sometimes it slows down.
Faculty: Our teachers are helpful and approachable. They have well-qualified teaching skills. The teaching quality is excellent. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready, I also got a job in an industry recently. Exams are from medium to high level depending upon the subject credit.
Other: I chose this course because I had a keen interest in electronic devices. This course provides the integration of electronics with instrumentation. It is relevant nowadays in all industries. Up to the 3rd year, the daily class schedule is hectic interacting with the regular assignments, projects, and labs. That's what I want to balance so that students get some extra time to explore themselves too. There are various events held in our college, among those Incandescence and Tecnoesis, which are the most popular where we get to show our talents and also get some exclusive experience along with concerts of famous artists. The connectivity is not that good because of its location. Scholarships are given to all eligible students. There are various extracurricular activities including sports, dance clubs, singing, etc.

The college is amazing.
Placements: My college and my branch have incredible placement statistics. Last year, as other colleges were struggling with declined placements, my branch could still produce the highest percentage in my college, 78%, with a maximum of 60 LPA and a minimum of 15 LPA. PSUs and HPCL also give placement to my course. Top roles include software engineer, core instrumentation engineers, HPCL offices, etc.
Infrastructure: My college has a good infrastructure. Admin building, sports complex, SAC building, cricket ground, football ground, badminton court, everything is amazing. The hostel is also highly maintained, but the wall needs painting. This is a recommendation which everybody agrees with.
Faculty: Faculty members, exam curriculum, and course structure are designed as per students' needs. It makes our students placement and industry-ready. My course has more than 30 labs throughout the entire journey, which gives practical industrial experiments. All the professors are highly qualified. They all have skills and highly qualified degrees. Many of the professors are from IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and more IITs, and some are also from outside India. Semester exams are easy to pass. It is not a very complex task in my branch, so just chill and enjoy the journey.
Other: This was the branch that I had been allotted by JoSAA counseling as per my Mains score. I got 96.85 percentile. Earlier, I was sad as I didn't get CSE, but with the passage of time, 2 semesters passed, and currently in 3rd sem, I find my branch to be healthy, competitive, and the scope is really high. Also, HPCL recruits from our branch, so this is a good opportunity for those who want to go to PSUs.
