The admission cycle at IITs starts with the release of the NTA notification for JEE Main. As per official suorces, NTA has released the JEE Main notification for BTech admissions at IIT Kharagpur. As per the notification, the JEE Main Session 1 is scheduled to be held in the last week of Jan 2025. Moreover, NTA is expected to conduct this exam in two shifts. In order to study in IIT Kharagpur's BArch programme, you must first clear JEE Advanced and participate in JoSAA Counselling. If you wish to be eligible, you must score 75% in core subjects in Class 12. Your JEE Advanced rank and assigned seat are what determine your choice of institute. Candidates aiming for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need to meet these cutoff marks in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
As per the elgibility criteria released by the IITs, It is mandatory to have minimum 75% marks (65% for reserved category) in class 12 to take admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Candidates should apply for JoSAA conselling only if they fulfill all the conditions of eligibility. However, many institutes admit students on the basis of JEE Main where there is no requirement of minimum marks in class 12.
