- The IIT JAM 2026 Round 1 counselling registration and choice filling process for admission to the MSc course has now closed. The first admission list will be announced on May 25, 2026.

No, IIT Madras BTech admission is only based on candidates' performance in JEE Maine exam, followed by the counselling round. JEE Main is also an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admission to IITs. Candidates who have qualified for JEE Main are only eligible to appear for JEE Advanced entrance test for admission to IIT Madras BTech courses. DoMS IIT Madras cutoff 2025 was published for admission to the management course, as MBA, based on the candidates' performance in the CAT entrance exam. For the General AI category, the DoMS IIT Madras CAT cutoff 2025 was 85.11 overall and 50 for all the sections, like Quants, VA-RC and DI-LR.
Students who want admission to this institute need to clear both the overall percentile and the sectional cutoff. Those who clear the final CAT cutoff are then eligible to take part in the selection process that may involve WAT, GD and PI.

Admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras for B.Tech requires qualifying JEE Advanced, and a 65.5 percentile in JEE Main is generally not enough to qualify for JEE Advanced in the General category. Even with excellent 98% marks in intermediate, IIT admissions mainly depend on JEE perform

No—if you scored 44 when the cutoff is 45 in JEE Main, you would not qualify for JEE Advanced. Without qualifying JEE Advanced, admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras is not possible, since IITs admit students only through that route.
