- The JEE Main 2026 registration process for the first session for IIT Roorkee admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses is expected to begin in Nov 2025.
- The GATE 2026 registrations are ongoing for admission to ME/MTech courses. By Oct 9, 2025, aspirants can complete their online registration process with the late fee payment. The GATE 2026 exam dates are Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 registration has now begun for admission to the MSc course. The last date to register is tentatively Oct 12, 2025. Furthermore, the exam will be held on Feb 15, 2026.
- The CEED Registration 2026 is open for IIT Roorkee admission to the M.Des course. Without late fee, the end date to register is Oct 31, 2025. In addition, the CEED 2026 exam is scheduled for Jan 18, 2026.

IIT Roorkee Courses and Fees 2025
IIT Roorkee offers more than ten undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, and doctoral-level courses. Admission to all IIT Roorkee courses is strictly entrance-based. Candidates seeking admission to the flagship BTech courses are required to appear for JEE Main and the JEE Advanced. Apart from BTech, the institute offers MTech admission through GATE/JEE Main and MBA admission through CAT/GATE. IIT Roorkee fees might range from INR 12,000 to 10 lakh. Candidates must pay the course fee to make fee payment.

Sometimes, prioritize college over the desire.
Placements: In the core branches, placements are a bit low, no specific companies are visiting the college for branch oriented courses. Students get job opportunities in different domains, in which they get average package of 5 to 7LPA, and the highest goes to 10 to 15LPA. PSUs like ONGC, BARC, and IOL are recruiting. They hire for the manager role and the system engineer.
Infrastructure: Departmental infrastructure is average, not like the whole campus, with a limited lab for the core branches. Wi-Fi enabled departments and classrooms are, on average, not equipped with many facilities, like comfortable seating. Libraries are there, which are accessible all the time. Hostel facilities are just okay, it depends on which hostel you are living in. Canteen and mess food have average taste. Sports facilities are there where you can explore all games.
Faculty: Faculty members of my department are okay, they have proper knowledge and skills regarding their courses, which is very helpful for the students to clear. They teach from the very basic to the advanced level. The course is not helpful for getting industry ready. Semester exams are easy to moderate, with a level 90% of the students pass.
Other: Events and extracurricular activities of this college are best when you really enjoy them, the campus crowd provides a versatile behavior and mindset.

A short review of IIT Roorkee and its earth science department.
Placements: It has good placement and internship opportunities for higher branches. For core, you have to maintain 8+ CGPA atleast as it plays a major factor. The highest package for our branch is around 25 LPA, and the lowest is around 12 LPA. Top recruiters are ONGC, Schlumberger, etc.
Infrastructure: Department facilities are decent with well-equipped labs, and all the instruments work properly. Classrooms are also mostly tidy. Regarding the hostel, for me it's been 3 years now on the campus so I have experience living in 3 hostels. I think the best one is Jawahar by far in terms of mess, canteen, and extracurricular activities.
Faculty: Teachers are pretty helpful and friendly in nature. They are pretty qualified and knowledgeable as well. Doubt-solving sessions are also conducted. The course curriculum is relevant but mostly depends on student's focus and interest whether he or she is industry-ready or not.
Other: Found this very unique course and wanted to explore more of it. I wish that we had more job opportunities in the core industry.

IIT Roorkee Electrical Engineering student review.
Placements: Out of 174 students, nearly 100 get placed every year. This information was not provided to us. Companies such as Google Silicon Engineering, Jaguar, and PWC recruit from our batch. Around 60% of students are placed in companies like Google Silicon Engineering, Jaguar, PWC, Myntra, etc. The average salary package offered for an electrical engineering student is about 20 LPA.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is provided separately in both hostel and classrooms. In labs, we are provided with good and well-maintained equipment. Classrooms are also monitored regularly. Library is well-maintained and has good security. In hostel, conditions are a bit uncomfortable, especially in summer, as there is a lot of suffocation and no air conditioning. However, other aspects of the hostel are better. Mess provides good-quality food, but it is more comfortable for South Indian students, with only a few items being good in taste. However, fruits and other services in mess are good in the afternoon. Medical facilities are free and offer a quick response depending on the issue. Sports are also encouraged, with many events held that offer prize money, inter-IIT competitions, and an event called 'Sangram' that was recently held.
Faculty: For this particular course, need to work consistently, and shouldn't slack off for even one day. This course offers more flexibility, choose whatever path they want after graduation. It doesn't just stick to core subjects but allows to explore different career paths. Exams are a little tough, but they are manageable if stay on track continuously. Students should spend a lot of time in lab sessions and practicals. Overall, the course is good, useful, and provides a new experience.

IIT Roorkee - The IIT of your dreams.
Placements: 85% is the placement percentage. 1.5 crores per annum is the highest package. Top recruiting companies are Jaguar, DE Shaw, Microsoft, Intuit, BCG, Google, Amazon, Mastercard, Sprinkle, Zepto, JP Morgan, BNY Mellon, and many more. Top roles offered are quant roles, SDE roles, etc.
Infrastructure: The whole campus is Wi-Fi equipped. The library and other academic facilities are state-of-the-art. Some hostels are better than others and are good, others are okayish. Mess food is so bad, but breakfast is awesome and nutritional. Sports facilities and gym are top-notch.
Faculty: Course Curriculum is relevant for the most part, and it does make students industry-ready, though more practical knowledge is needed. Teachers are very knowledgeable, but some professors don't interact that much, which is the case in every college, still, overall, good professors. Semester exams are average to above average here. The pass grade for a course is 4.
Other: Electrical Engineering is a very versatile course in terms of placements, most technical and non-technical companies allow you to sit in their tests, and you can target core companies. Betterment is needed in the mess and hostels, but it's still not that bad. Fests are amazing here, and the campus life is just too much fun.

I am satisfied with the campus and faculty. The core placements are not satisfactory.
Placements: About 60% of students got placed in 2024 with an average package of 20 LPA. The highest package is 36 LPA, and the lowest package is 12 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Schlumberger, OIL, etc. About 50% of students got internship opportunities. Most of them got a data analyst intern or a product analyst intern position in various companies. Many students are placed in non-core roles.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are good. There is Wi-Fi on the whole campus. Labs are well-maintained with all the modern equipment. The condition of classrooms of our department is a little bit deteriorated. The mess food is good, and the canteen food is reliable. There are good facilities for sports. Medical facilities are the best, and we can consult a doctor at any time.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is top-notch. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. If we want to do further studies, then it is one of the best courses. Semester exams are easy to pass. Almost all students pass exams.

IIT Roorkee is the best college.
Placements: I have done my Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and this is my personal review regarding the placement and the college. The college has a great placement team, and highest package from this college goes around 1.5 crores. While average packages from this college go up to 50 to 60 LPA.
Infrastructure: College has all the facilities required by the students, even more than what they require. The hostels are made very lavish and spacious with a high-quality food mess. Every week, food is prepared for each state's students. Classrooms are fully centralized ACs with plug-in tables, smart classes, and whatnot.
Faculty: Faculty members of this college are themselves qualified from renowned IITs. Professors of this college are quite strict, but there is a huge amount of knowledge you can get from them. Also, they help you a lot with your research work. Overall, the college has a great placement and faculty.
