For non-core branches, i.e., software, data science, finance and consultancy, a lot of companies are available for you depending on your GPA.

I'm satisfied with my college because everything is good until you don't try something to do.
Placements: I'm from the 2022-2026 batch (metallurgy department). Here in the first session of placements, only 18 students got placed (on campus). Out of 73 which means it's a very less compared to other branches and everyone is trying to get an IT job not looking for a core job which makes it difficult to get core companies.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good, as you expect this is an IIT, so the hostel facility and food are good. Especially, classrooms are very beautiful, and in our college, we have high-speed Wi-Fi. Library is very huge it contains a lot of books, if you are doing research it is the best place.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful but students don't utilize them properly because lot of trying to get an IT job. So majority is not interested in the core to interact with professors. Curriculum is very smooth and good. It is perfectly maintained. Semester exams are easy and tough depends on the professor handling it.
Other: Here in our college fests are done twice a year and some small fests are always going on. It's a good place to get a healthy connectivity with friends and professors.

IIT Roorkee: A premier institution for excellence.
Placements: IIT Roorkee attracts a wide range of companies for placements across various disciplines. Some notable recruiters include Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), and many more. Keep in mind that specific companies may vary from year to year. It's advisable to check the latest placement reports or contact the placement cell at IIT Roorkee for the most up-to-date information.
Infrastructure: Different bhawans (hostels) have different types of rooms allotted to the students. Presently I'm residing in Rajendra Bhawan, which is only for first-years and contains both single- & double-seated rooms. RJB has 3 blocks named A, B, and C. They all have different quality of rooms. Block A has the best quality of rooms, followed by B & C. All rooms have cupboard, study table, laptop table, chair and obviously a bed. The quality differs in wall paint and other things like curtains, foot mats, flooring and power sockets. A room with good quality of wall paint. curtains & multiple power sockets can be found in A-Block. B-Block has both single and double-seated rooms and the prior one is a bit congested. The thing that attracted me the most is the individual open balcony in every room of C-Block. Electrical stuffs like Fans, LED lights, LAN ports, and room heater are well maintained in all the rooms. Windows of every room have a layer of net for restricting the entry of mosquitoes and other insects (as IITR is full of them during night). After completion of first year, everybody gets single room (2nd 3rd and 4th year) in different Bhawans and those rooms are large enough for a single occupant.
Faculty: The most important! You would have ample opportunities to develop your academic skills. Overall, the institute has national-level infrastructure (lecture halls, classrooms, research labs, experiment labs, libraries, etc.). Plus, the courses are designed in a way that allows you to have major specialization in the core subject (of your discipline) or minor specialization in other subjects of different disciplines. Thus, being a mechanical engineering guy, you still have the option to study computer science. The institute has tie-ups with several foreign universities and under the student exchange program, you can go to any of the universities for a semester (of course there are some criteria). You will have opportunities to do a fully funded internship abroad (through DAAD, etc.). In campus, you will have enough resources to go for research, etc.

IIT Roorkee is an amazing college for me. I found everything here that I needed.
Placements: In my branch, at least 80 students are in any batch. For this year, only 40 students are placed. This number is very low, as we study in IIT-like colleges. The top recruiting companies are Tata Steel, Reliance Industries Limited, and Info. Many students get PPO.
Infrastructure: In IIT Roorkee, I am living in Rajendra Bhavan in C-Block. As every first year, I live in Rajendra Bhavan. My hostel's facilities include a playground for badminton, football, cricket, and yoga activities. My hostel also includes a library facility, a TV room, and a washing room.
Faculty: In IIT Roorkee, for any course, we have very good faculty and respective TAs. We have regular classes as part of our daily schedule and weekly assignments and practicals. We have two exams for any semester, which include the mid-sem exam and the end-sem exam. In the first semester, we also have an option for changing branches.
Other: In IIT Roorkee, the campus is very amazing, especially the Thomso building. These colleges provide many facilities to students, like sports, campus groups, networks, etc.

College life of IITR students.
Placements: Metallurgy and Materials Engineering contains about 70 to 80 students in B. Tech. 70 percent of the students are placed on campus from our batch. Tata Steel recruits a lot of students from this branch. A lot of students get internships from the same company.
Infrastructure: The department has various machines which are necessary for the research required. The campus is covered with Wi-Fi network. The classrooms are large and centralized AC facility is provided. The hostel has grounds for playing cricket, badminton courts.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and are educated from top foreign universities with Ph.D. in certain streams. The teachers are highly knowledgeable and the quality of teaching is also good. The course curriculum is relevant and can make anyone industry-ready.
Other: This course is interesting, so I chose this course.

Metallurgy at IIT Roorkee.
Placements: 90–95 percent of students get placed every year. The highest package is INR 55 LPA, the lowest package is INR 9 LPA, and the average package is INR 8 LPA. Although packages vary from core to non-core, the top recruiting companies in the core are Jindal and Tata Steel. Almost 40–50 percent of students go for internships. Roles depend on whether you choose core or non-core.
Infrastructure: The Internet connection is the best, and the LAN has the highest speed. Classrooms create a good environment for studying. The library is open until 12 a.m. on regular days and for the whole day during exams. Hostel life is excellent; all the facilities are provided. There is a variety in mess food. Canteens and juice corners are open in hostels all the time. The hospital is on the campus itself. Sports facilities are provided at both the hostel and campus.
Faculty: The curriculum is updated when required, and it plays the best role by itself. The faculty is helpful and has great knowledge and teaching skills. Two exams are conducted every semester: the midterm and the end term. Assignments are given, and quizzes are held on a regular basis.
Other: The best thing about the course is that you get theoretical as well as practical knowledge. There are many types of scholarships.
