Improved placements in 2025 at IIT BHU.

Placements: Around 70% of students got placed from my course with the highest package of 51 LPA offered by Microsoft. The lowest package is 7 LPA-8 LPA and the average package is 16 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Cars24, Google, Goldman Sachs, De Shaw, etc.

Infrastructure: Our department is well-equipped with different facilities like Wi-Fi, computer labs, AC in every classroom, and smartboards attached. The mess food is fairly good with varieties in the menu. Talking about hostels, some new hostels are decent with good infrastructure and facilities.

Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and supportive. The teaching quality is commendable, with a good balance between theoretical concepts and practical applications. Semester exams are moderately challenging, focusing on both understanding and application of concepts.

A complete and exhaustive review of IITBHU.

Placements: Every year, close to 60-70% of students get placed in my course, with the remaining either going for government exams or securing a job through GATE so 90-95% of people have their future sorted. The highest package for this year is 51 LPA by Microsoft. Almost all companies like Thoughtspot, Pace Stock Broking, Flipkart, and Meesho opened up for mining IDD. The internship number is a bit low. Around 15-20% of students receive on-campus internships.

Infrastructure: Hostels are a bit old, although most of the facilities are provided, but a lot of them are not working, so they are a bit on the bad side. We have Wi-Fi and many things in all places. Labs, classrooms, and a library are fully equipped. The hostel mess is decent. Other facilities like sports and games are decent, with IIT (BHU), having a brand new students activity center.

Faculty: Teachers are qualified and have great knowledge. A lot of them do not know how to teach so that is an issue since most of the students prepare for non-core roles. Thus the quality of teaching is not a very big issue. The course curriculum is on the easier side. My mining department is very easy and rarely does anyone fail any exam in the mining department. There is a very famous in our department that it requires a greater amount of effort to fail then to top the exam.

Other: I was allotted this course on my rank and thus did not have an option to choose. The best thing about my course is the ease of the course, and the department is also very elite. In terms of improvement, better facilities and classrooms can be provided, but that is also being improved with air-conditioned classrooms and smart digital boards. Extracurricular activities are great at IITBHU. Fests and events are some of the best in north India. Connectivity is also decent.

Mining engineering batch '25 placements at IIT BHU.

Placements: So, phase 1 placements are just finished, and about 65-70% of students in my branch got placed in December '24. This percentage is low because many of them are UPSC aspirants and they didn't sit for placements. In mining engineering, the highest package received was 51 LPA by Microsoft, the average was 18-20 LPA, while the lowest was 12 LPA. Top recruiters were Microsoft, Javis, Meesho, ZS Associates (off-campus), Cars24, etc. This year, placements are far better than last year. Almost my whole friend circle is placed in phase 1.

Infrastructure: IIT BHU hostels are quite old, but some new hostels are also being constructed. Rooms are good, clean, and spacious in the new hostels, but in the old hostels, rooms are quite small. Hostel facilities are good, like Wi-Fi, geysers, proper lighting, pest control services, room cleaning regularly, and lift facilities in new hostels. Mess food is great. The department is also good, but it’s very old in terms of infrastructure. In-depth, we have a library, computer labs, and free Wi-Fi. Classrooms are a bit old, but they are being renovated, and some smart screens have also been installed now.

Faculty: So, the mining department professors are really very helpful in nature, and you can tell them any problem, even life-related. They are very reputed teachers and are very knowledgeable. Courses are easy to understand and exciting as well. Semester exams are also not very tough, and there are very few chances of getting a backlog (only if you studied nothing, you can get one). Attendance criteria is 75%, but some professors don’t consider it.

Other: The best thing about my course is that it has an easy and not very hectic schedule, so I have time to do other things like coding, tutoring, freelancing, etc.

Overall, a nice college for placements as well as facilities.

Placements: Our college provides on-campus placement in which the students can sit in their final year (before the final semester). In placement 2024-25, the highest package in our college is ₹1.65 crore. Top recruiters this year are Flipkart, Google, Oracle, Accenture Japan, etc. In the mining department, usually around 60-70% of students get placed, and the average salary is usually 12-13 LPA. Top recruiters in mining are Tata Steel, JSW, and Vedanta.

Infrastructure: In our department, every classroom is equipped with smart boards and projectors. Multiple labs are there having modern machines. Every hostel and department in our college has Wi-Fi facilities provided by the college. Every room of the hostels has beds, study tables, and chairs. Each hostel has its own mess, and the quality of food given in the mess is good. There are 2 sattvik messes also. Almost all sports are present in our college. Also, there are 2 gyms. The student activity center is there for indoor games and the gym.

Faculty: Almost all the professors in our college are Ph.D. holders. They have good knowledge about the subjects, and some of them are very friendly and approachable. The course curriculum is well structured, giving knowledge about not only the respective department but also some institute core subjects that are also mandatory for all, like engineering mathematics, engineering drawing, fundamentals of electrical engineering, etc. The difficulty of exams is moderate, but it also depends on the professors. Some professor always set difficult papers.

Good placements, infrastructure, and campus life define IIT BHU.

Placements: In our course, there are a total of 120 students, out of which 80 students are placed, approximately 66.67%. The highest package is about 45 lakh, and the lowest is 8 lakh, with an average around 16 lakh. Many companies visited the campus, including Microsoft, GAIL, and NHPC, among others. These companies offered some of the highest packages. In my course, very few students got internships—only 8 out of 120—and most went to Microsoft. My course is Mining, where we excavate minerals and metals from the earth. The top roles include mining inspector, blasting engineer, ventilation design engineer, etc.

Infrastructure: Our department is 102 years old, so the mining department building is old but beautiful. The classrooms are well-maintained, and there is a world-class lab for experiments and projects. Our library has many books, and the Wi-Fi is decent. The hostel provides necessities like tables, chairs, and wardrobes. The mess food is good with a changing menu every day. We also have a health center that provides free treatment to students, and the campus offers excellent sports facilities.

Faculty: Our teachers are well-qualified with great teaching experience in their field, many from IITs. In every college, the course curriculum is old, but the practical knowledge and labs make us industry-ready. The semester exams are moderate, and due to supportive teachers, passing the examinations is easy.

Other: I chose this course because it's easier to get a government job after qualifying for GATE, especially in the government mining sector. I don't think any changes are required in this course because everything is good. IIT BHU hosts many fests and events like Spardha, Kashiyatra, TECHNEX, etc. The campus is open, allowing everyone to visit. Scholarships are provided by our alumni and the government. Extracurricular activities like general championships, sports days, and summer camps are also held.

Actually, it is fixed before announcement of GATE results. It is announced by conducting IIT and available on GOAPS. It includes qualifying marks for each paper.

Admission GATE Cutoffs: It is final opening and closing rank score fixed by participating institutes for selection of candidates. It is to be noted here that meeting admission GATE cutoff does not mean that candidates will be selected for admission. It is fixed after GATE result date. It is declared by individual participating institutes and available on their respective counselling portals (CCMT/ COAP).
