Candidates with a BSc or equivalent UG degree with at least 60% aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% aggregate or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category) are eligible to apply for an MSc course of NIT Calicut. The aspirants must hold the UG mark sheets and pass certificates as proof of eligibility. The institute admits candidates only after document verification.

The MSc course admission at NIT Calicut is an entrance-based. Only the aspirants with a valid score of IIT JAM can apply for an MSc course at NIT Calicut. The selected candidates further need to take part in CCMN counselling for seat allotment. For IIT JAM, candidates can apply online.

NIT Calicut has a seat intake of 75 for the full-time MSc course offered in three specialisations. The institute reserves 25 seats for each specialisation. In addition, the institute reserves 5% seats for PwD category candidates followed by norms of the Government of India.

The total course fee includes various components such as tuition fee, caution deposit, admission fee, hostel fee (if applicable), development fee, etc. The total tuition fee for MSc in NIT Calicut is INR 30,000, the hostel facility cost INR 18,000, and a one-time payment (including various components) of INR 30,500. NIT Calicut accepts JEE Main scores for admission to the BTech course specialisations and the BArch course. The cutoff is released category-wise for candidates belonging to the All India as well as the Home State quota. For candidates belonging to the General HS category, the cutoff ranks to get admission ranged between 241 and 47061.
