Great campus life with good placement and private rooms, a place like heaven for engineering.
Placements: Placements here are good. From 2019-2023, there was almost 99% placement in the IT department, and in 2024, about 91% students were placed in the IT department. The highest salary varies from 55 LPA-62 LPA, the average was about 24 LPA, and the median was about 21 LPA. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Morgan Stanley, Dell, etc., are major recruiters. Most of the roles offered are developer. Around 30%-40% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: There are enough buildings for classrooms. Wi-Fi is available throughout campus through captive portal login. Two libraries with air conditioners are available. There are 3 grounds. Two sports complexes are too good. 12 boys' hostels and 5 girls' hostels are available. Mess food is decent. We get both vegetarian and non-vegetarian mess. 3-night canteens are available, which serve midnight. There is a food court too. We also get a private one. Campus has a good connection to road (NH66), which runs between the campus, splitting it in two. There are guest houses available. Overall, very good infrastructure.
Faculty: Professors are well-qualified. The teaching is not that good I would say. Curriculum is relevant to the existing trend, and also makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are decent, not too hard or easy. Pass percentage varies from 20% marks to 30% marks. There is a grading system in NIT Surathkal. Semester can be balanced with other activities.
Other: I chose this course out of my interest in the IT field. The best thing is that it's a chill branch and provides all the CSE courses for a slightly lower cutoff. Placements are top-notch. Some professors don't take classes properly and don't give deserving marks. This could be improved. Incidentally, our cultural fest is India's second-biggest fest. Engineer is our technical fest. All the fest events are too good to experience. There are also other events. Many scholarships are provided by institutions as well as private organizations. Scope is given for extracurricular activities like dance, music, art, etc.

Good faculty members and infrastructure, near to sea, and have beach also.
Placements: In my branch IT, more than 95% of students got placed. We have courses in every domain of IT sector, so students can choose which fits and is good for them.
Infrastructure: We have few decent hostels and few good hostels. It has very good classrooms and few very good labs, libraries with AC and non-AC rooms, large number of books, and sufficient timings. We have Wi-Fi all over the campus, even on ground also, and in rooms we have Wi-Fi LAN ports also. We have very good labs, high-speed internet everywhere.
Faculty: We have very good and experienced faculty members who are doing some research in their respective fields. They will be available most of the time physically, and we can contact them anytime by mail, etc. Exams are also in a very well-planned manner. Each year, we have very decent faculty members.
Other: We have 2 very big events, engineer and incident. Incident is the second-largest fest in South India. Those 2 will be around 3 and 4 days each.

It is a place where students can find a new version of themselves.
Placements: Placements are good this year in the IT branch. Every student got placements. Almost 97% of students got placed. The highest salary package offered is 57 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges between 19 LPA - 21 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 4 LPA. Top recruiters are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. The internship season will start in the 5th semester. Everyone will get internships.
Infrastructure: Hostels are not very great because this is a government college. They are decent. There are 20 hostels for boys and 5 hostels for girls. There are 2 sports complexes. They include all games. The ground is well-maintained. Each hostel has common rooms so that everyone can chill.
Faculty: Our faculty members are good. All of them are Ph.D. holders. The curriculum is student-friendly. The course is not very stressed. Academically, everything is great. Students can gain as much knowledge as they want from faculty. The course keeps changing according to the current trend. The syllabus keeps updating.
Other: I chose the IT branch because this is a booming sector. Students can have plenty of options during placements. Apart from academics, there will be two fests. Each fest is conducted every semester. The whole campus will turn into a colourful place during fests.

The placements are good, and the campus life is nice.
Placements: In my course, over 85% of students were placed, even though there was a recession. The highest package was around 52 LPA, and the lowest was around 8 LPA. The top companies included Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, DE Shaw, Arcesium, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, etc. Most roles were related to development or machine learning.
Infrastructure: The hostel was fine for a government college. We had Wi-Fi problems that were not resolved fast. The lifts were a problem. The department did not have proper space for all amenities. Otherwise, it was fine. The medical and sports facilities were very nice. The mess food, as usual, was horrible. However, we had snacks, night canteens, and some nice restaurants nearby, which were life save.
Faculty: Teachers were well-qualified and well-known. You were expected to learn most things by yourself, though. There were projects for almost every course, which allowed you to explore and learn more beyond the curriculum. The curriculum, on the whole, was not up to the industry standard in any Indian college in general, but they made the basics crystal clear. There were many opportunities, as the professors had both industry and academic connections, and you could work with them on industry-related or research-based projects.
Other: I was keen on technology and liked coding, so I chose this course. I wished it had been more project-oriented and that we had better facilities. For instance, having more GPUs would have made sense. The fests were very nice compared to other NITs. The campus was nice, though the weather was not. It was a very nice experience. We had a private beach where you could chill. There were many weekend getaways nearby. Many scholarships were available, including merit-based and merit-cum-means, etc. The connectivity was good, as both the station and airport were nearby.

Overview of NITK -A Beautiful Campus.
Placements: In 2022 and 2023, the placement percentage was around 75 to 80%. But due to a recession in 2024, it's around 70%, and the rest of the students are focused on diverse domains such as MBA, UPSC, and further studies. An average salary can be expected around 15-18 LPA. Those who are part of IT mainly incline towards SDE roles as web developers. Due to the boom in AI, people are focusing on Data Science and Data Analyst domains. Top companies are Microsoft, Google, Uber, and Oracle. Moderate companies are Wells Fargo, Intuit, RingCentral, PayPal, and more. Lastly, focused companies are investment banking companies, which provide a salary around 12 to 13 LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is developing rapidly day by day, in relative comparison to past years. Wi-Fi is available 24*7 in every corner of the campus. Libraries and labs are very good, with AC availability. Classrooms are wide-spaced and can accommodate 120 students. Coming to food, if you are from the South, then you will definitely like the food. If you are from the North, it depends on the person. Hostels are good, and until the 2nd year, they provide 2-room or 3-room sharing. Later on, it's single-room sharing. There is a widespread range of different canteens such as Amul, Nandini, Nescafé, and night canteens that provide good food at affordable rates. Sports facilities are extremely good, with grounds for each sport. The gym infrastructure is good and can accommodate around 100-150 people. And everyone knows NIT K is famous for each :).
Faculty: Most of the teachers are highly qualified and have done their Ph.D. from reputed abroad colleges. Teaching quality is very good. Professors create an ambiance in such a way that everyone likes the method of teaching. The course curriculum is designed in such a way that it inclines towards IT and teaches industry-related skills. The semester exams are difficult, as everyone thinks, and the pass percentage is just 20 percent.
Other: I have chosen this course because it provides a sustainable job and offers great growth. Relatively compared to other branches, the Information Technology branch has the highest placement percentage over the past 5 years. There are two fests that can stretch for 3 to 4 days. One is Engi, and the other is INCI. The ambiance during these fests will be very good.

Rather than focusing on such thing, you should also appear for JEE Mains, which is going to be conducted in April, because if you don't give the exam in April, then there are chances of falling down your rank, as competition is going to increase much this time.

In general category, you might get admission in the top 3 NITs, that is Surathkal, Trichy and Warangal . You will get CE, ECE and EEE in most of the lower NITs.
