Distance LLB admissions 2026 are basically based on the criteria that you need to have cleared class 10+2 examinations with a minimum of 45 to 50 percent. Many private institutes provide LLB distance education with the same curriculum as the regular LLB course, but it is been taught for educational purposes only.  

Through LLB distance education admissions 2026, you can take part in Law and related educational programs, but to practice law legally in courts is still not approved by BCI (Bar Council of India), the reason being the lack of practical knowledge and experience gained through regular LLB classes.
Also, you do not need to sit for Law entrance exams like CLAT, for LLB distance education, as there is no such requirement for an entrance exam score for admissions. However, the facilitating institute can ask for their own entrance scores, followed by the interview or GDs.

A:

Yes, you can study LLB in distance education from the colleges that are offering this course, but it should be a recognised one. Although, for practicing Law you need a LLB degree from a regular colleges, as Bar Council of India does not accept LLB degree from distance education.

Q:   Can I pursue Distance LLB after Class 12?
A:

No, the three-year LLB course can be pursued only after completing graduation. To study Law after Class 12, you basically need to enroll in courses such as BA LLB,  BCom LLB,  BBA LLB and BSc LLB. Hence, candidates who wish to enter into the legal education right after Class 12 can plan for integrated degree directly after Class 12 instead of doing LLB after graduation. Distance LLB can be pursued by those who are working professionals.

There are no entrance exams at the national level like CLAT or AILET for admission to LLB correspondence courses. Most admissions in colleges are based on merit in the qualifying exam, which is graduation or post-graduation.

Apart from marks in the qualifying exam, candidates must meet the institute’s eligibility criteria. There can be personal interviews before offering admission or a small written test. In a nutshell, no state-level or national-level entrance exam is applicable for admission to correspondence/distance LLB courses.

No, the CLAT is conducted only for admissions to regular five-year LLB courses and LLM courses. CLAT entrance examinations are conducted for full-time recognised five-year LLB programmes. For admission to a Distance LLB degree, candidates have to check the admission process of the university/law colleges. Hence, candidates need not appear CLAT entrance examination for Distance LLB courses and can directly secure admission in colleges.

Spending more than 3 years in the distance LLB program would not be a suitable choice.
