What is the Purpose of Mock Allotment?

KCET mock seat allotment is an indicative seat allotment status which works as a trial based on candidates' initial KCET 2026 option entry, merit rank, and reservation category. However, it is not a final seat confirmation and candidates cannot report to colleges or claim admission based on this mock result sheet.

Thousands of students change their preferences after the mock seat allotment is declared meaning cutoffs may shift significantly before the final list is prepared. Candidates who miss the initial option entry window can register and participate now by paying a non-refundable fee of INR 750.

How to Modify Options in KCET Choice Filling?

Modifying your entry requires accessing the KEA UGCET Candidate Portal. The interface splits choices into available selections on the left panel and your current prioritized list on the right panel.

1. Adding New Options after mock allotment

  • So candidates can visit the official website and use search filters on left panel to sort college name, district, or engineering/pharmacy branch.

  • Locate specific college-course code.

  • Type desired priority ranking number into input box next to that college code.

  • The system inserts it into that exact rank on your right panel list, pushing subsequent entries down automatically.

2. Rearranging Your Preference Order

  • Go to the existing choice list displayed on right panel.

  • Find college preference number that needs to be changed.

  • Type new numerical rank position directly into priority field box next to that option. For example, to switch from a college from position 6 to position 10, type "10" and click Update to refresh the list hierarchy.

3. Deleting Unwanted Options

  • Navigate to the preferred choice list on right panel.

  • Identify college or branch that you no longer wish to join.

  • Type number "0" (zero) into preference priority box next to that option.

  • Click Update/Save button to instantly scrub it from your dashboard

What Actions to take Based on KCET Mock Seat Allotment Result is out?

After the mock seat allotment is out, the next steps is relying on how the trial allotment matches target goals:

Your Mock Status

Recommended Strategy

Happy with the Allotment

Do not touch the allotted choice. Carefully review all options placed above it to ensure you truly prefer them over your current mock seat, as the system will automatically upgrade you if a vacancy opens up.

Better College Expected

Push your highest-priority dream colleges further up the list. Do not arrange them by what you think you will get; arrange by what you actually want.

No Seat Allotted

Expand your options immediately. Examine historical cutoff trends and add realistic, safe alternative colleges to prevent getting completely left out in Round 1.

Better Branch Required

Adjust branch hierarchy within same institution. Swap positions between streams (placing CSE above ISE or ECE) based on interest.

Too Few Options Filled

Fill out a maximum number of sensible, valid combinations. Entering only 10-20 choices severely limits your potential allocation.

Crucial Security and Verification Checks

  • If you get a seat allotted in the final round, the system automatically deletes all choices ranked lower than that allotted number. Ensure your absolute dream options sit squarely at the top.

  • Do not mirror options from friends. Seat allocation parses your unique category tags and exact KCET rank

  • After finishing your edits, click Save and Lock Choices. Download and take a physical printout of the final option entry form for future validation stages.

Round 1 closing rank in Aeronautical Engineering was 56,940 in 2025. By the final round, the closing rank was 97,687. It suggests that, though easier than Computer Science and Engineering, Aeronautical engineering is a popular specialised course.
