MHT CET 2025 Syllabus pdf will be released soon by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell. The previous year MHT CET Syllabus PDF PCM and PCB are available here.

The syllabus of MHT CET includes four subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. As per the MHT CET Syllabus 2025 Weightage PCM and PCB, all topics of class 12 will be covered in the exam whereas from class 11, only a few topics will be covered. 

The syllabus of MHT CET is similar to the class 11 and 12 syllabus released by the Maharashtra Board. As per the MHT CET syllabus 2025 with weightage PCM and PCB prescribed by the Maharashtra CET Cell, 20 percent weightage is given to the Class 11 topics and the remaining 80 percent to the Class 12 topics of the Maharashtra board.

Candidates applying for engineering courses must appear in the Mathematics part while those applying for pharmacy courses need to appear in the Biology part. Q:   Is MHT CET syllabus similar to the syllabus of and Maharashtra board class 11 and 12?

A:

The MHT CET syllabus is similar to the class 11 and 12 syllabus of the Maharashtra board, but not identical. The MHT CET syllabus includes standard class 11 and 12 topics of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, but not all topics of class 11 are covered in the MHT CET syllabus whereas all topics of class 12 are included in the CET syllabus. Additionally, some topics may have slightly different emphases or weightages in the MHT CET syllabus compared to the Maharashtra board syllabus.

It's important to note that the MHT CET syllabus is set by the Maharashtra CET Cell, and the best way to verify the syllabus is to download it from the official website or the Shiksha page. It's also advisable to follow the NCERT textbooks as the base for studying the syllabus of MHT CET.

Q:   Are NCERT books enough to complete MHT CET syllabus?

A:

The syllabus of MHT CET is all covered in NCERT textbooks of class 11 and 12. NCERT books are considered the best to clear exam like MHT CET. NCERT books have easy to understand language and a lot of solved questions which make it the best fit to begin MHT CET preparation. Also, many previous year toppers and subject-matter experts have advised to use NCERT books.

Q:   Is MHT CET syllabus same as syllabus of JEE Mains?

A:

The syllabus of MHT CETs is not same as JEE Main. Candidates must note that MHT CETs and JEE Mains are two different exam meant for different purposes. MHT CET is conducted for admission to BTech courses in institutes of Maharashtra while JEE Mains is conducted for admission to NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs. 

In terms of syllabus, although both MHT CETs and Mains have class 11 and 12 topics of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, there are some topics which are a part of Mains syllabus but not in CET. Also, the difficulty level of JEE is way ahead of MHT CET. Students preparing for the JEE Main and MHT CET exam can download the syllabus from the Shiksha page.

Q:   Can I complete MHT CET syllabus in 6 months?

A:

MHT CETs syllabus can be completed in 6 months considering the topics had already been studied in class 11 and 12. As the topics in MHT CET syllabus and class 11/12 topics are similar, students can easily complete the revision in 6 months. However, completing the syllabus does not mean the completing the preparation. Students need to solve previous year questions and mock tests as well as study other reference /NCERT books for clearing the concepts.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in MHT CET?

A:

As per the MHT CET pattern, the questions asked in the exam will be multiple choice questions (MCQs) with four options, and there will be no negative marking. The exam will be conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

The exam will consist of two sections - Section 1 (Physics and Chemistry) and Section 2 (Mathematics). Mathematics section will have 50 questions while Physics & Chemistry section will have 100 questions, 50 each from both subjects. The total duration of the exam will be 180 minutes, with 90 minutes for each section.

Q:   Are calculators allowed in MHT CET exam?

A:

Calculators are not allowed in the MHT CET exam. However, students are provided the virtual calculator during the exam which can be used to solving lengthy calculations. The virtual calculator is made available on the computer screen during the test and candidates can use it by clicking on the calculator link. Candidates are advised to practice solving numerical questions on their own as using virtual calculators can take much time.

Q:   Do I need to attempt all the questions in MHT CET exam?

A:

It is not compulsory to attempt all the question in exam. Students can attempt any number of questions out of total 150 questions in the exam. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which they can arrive at the answers/solutions. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in MHT CET that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.

Q:   Is there a negative marking in MHT CET?

A:

MHT CET paper do not have negative marking for incorrect answer. In MHT CET exam, Physics and Chemistry question is of 1 marks. No marks are deducted for unattempted questions. For any question, if none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or dropped, then full marks will be awarded to all candidates irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

Q:   Can I change the language of the question paper during the MHT CET exam?

A:

Question papers during the exam will be visible in English, Urdu and Marathi. Candidates can switch the language of the question paper between the default languages which is English, Urdu and Marathi. In total, MHT CET is conducted in 3 languages and candidates have the option to select any language out of the available options. Candidates cannot switch the language of question paper between all 3 languages during the exam.

MHT CET Exam Pattern 2025

MHT CET 2025 exam pattern will be announced soon by the exam conducting authority. The MHT CET exam will be divided into the following three sections:

  1. Section1: Mathematics
  2. Section 2: Physics and Chemistry
  3. Section 3: Biology (Botany and Zoology)

Each of the three sections is of 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes). Although there is no negative marking in MHT CET, the difficulty level of the exam would be at par with JEE Main and NEET UG for PCM and PCB respectively. The questions will typically be application-based.

As per the official syllabus of MHT CET released by Maharashtra CET Cell, class 11 chapters have 20 percent weightage and class 12 chapters have 80 percent weightage. The time required to cover MHT CET syllabus would vary for every student however, to complete the entire MHT CET syllabus, students would require around 1 year. The ideal time to start preparing for MHT CET is class 12 as the syllabus for JEE and class 12 is similar. Students who are studying in class 12 can point out the topics that are common in both and pay special emphasis to that.

The syllabus for MHT CET PCM (BE/BTech) and PCB (BPharma) is different. MHT CET PCM exam is conducted for admission to BE/BTech while the PCB examis conducted for BPharma courses.  MHT CET PCM syllabus consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. PCB syllabus has Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Candidates must note that Physics and Chemistry syllabus is common/same in both PCB and PCM papers. Scoring 75 percentile in MHT CET is a pretty good score . To confirm yourself a seat at PDEACE gor B.Tech in ELectronics and telecomunication your percecentile should be more than 75 according to the previous year cutoffs, so your at the border , the cances are 50:50.
