Know key changes introduced in JEE Advanced this year
JEE Advanced 2021: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority(JoSAA) has introduced major changes in the engineering entrance exam this year. Scroll down to know the important amendments made in JEE Advanced 2021.
- JEE Advanced 2021: Female quota
- JEE Advanced 2021: Last year’s candidates allowed to appear for exam
- JEE Advanced 2021: Eligibility criteria of 75% in Class 12 waived
- JEE Advanced 2021: No exam centre in foreign countires
- JEE Advanced 2021: Full scholarship for top 100 JEE Advanced students
JEE Advanced 2021: Female quota
This year, the reserved quota of 20 per cent for women candidates has been removed. Now, the seats reserved for women will be decided by each IIT individually. In a bid to create a gender balance in technical education, the government first introduced a supernumerary quota for women in IITs in 2018. In the first year of implementation, 2018-19, 14 per cent of seats were added, going up to 17 per cent in 2019-20 and 20 per cent in 2020-21.
JEE Advanced 2021: Last year’s candidates allowed to appear for exam
Qualified candidates who could not appear for JEE Advanced in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions have been given a chance to appear for the IIT entrance this year. They are not required to clear JEE Main again this year. They will be considered “in addition" to the current batch and not part of them.
JEE Advanced 2021: Eligibility criteria of 75% in Class 12 waived
Earlier, students had to secure at least 75 per cent marks in Class 12 to be eligible to appear for the IIT entrance. But that rule has been removed now. Students just need to clear the board exams to be eligible to apply for entrance.
JEE Advanced 2021: No exam centre in foreign countires
Unlike the previous years, foreign candidates will have to appear for the exam in India this year. An official notice read, “Considering the prevailing pandemic situation due to COVID-19, in India and abroad, it has been decided not to conduct the JEE (Advanced) 2021 in any of the foreign centres/countries. The foreign national candidates, however, may appear for JEE (Advanced) 2021 examination at any of the Indian centres of their choice at their own expenses (including travel etc.) after adhering to the required travel norms of the government of India and their respective countries of residence.”
JEE Advanced 2021: Full scholarship for top 100 JEE Advanced students
From the 2021-22 session onwards, IIT Kharagpur will provide full scholarship to top 100 JEE Advanced ranking students whose family income is below Rs 20 lakh per annum. The scholarship, named “Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Full Scholarship for Top 100 JEE (Advanced) Rankers”, aims at supporting students within Top 100 All India Rankings in JEE Advanced. The full ride scholarship will cover the entire cost of education of a student such as institution fees, hall expenses, textbooks, meals, gadgets and other miscellaneous expenses such as relocation expenses, personal expenses, other living costs, and also to provide an out-of-pocket allowance.
JEE Advanced 2021 will be held on October 3, 2021, in two shifts — 9 am to noon (Paper-1) and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm (Paper-2). Around 2.5 lakh candidates who clear JEE Main 2021 will be eligible to sit for JEE Advanced 2021.

Dear reader,
World-class Electrical Engineering programs with distinguished professors and legacies are offered by both IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur. Although these universities are top options, LPU's EE, EEE, and ECE departments offer a similar excellent B.Tech experience. With state-of-the-art lab
