KCET, in my opinion, has many questions that can be done orally or with simple calculations. Do read the paper for the first five minutes and within the first 15 minutes, find and solve such questions, says Manish Motwani.
Karnataka CET ( KCET ) is held every year by Karnataka Examination Authority for admissions in 211 colleges which includes many top colleges in India. Hence this exam is a big opportunity after Mains, Advanced and BITSAT. This article will help you in guiding various tips and tricks related to examination and preparation and about how to score more in the paper.
Explore colleges based on KCET
KCET consist of four papers, Physics, Maths, Biology and Chemistry ( Maths for technical i.e B.Tech and Biology for Pharmacy ) Each subject Paper is of 60 questions each question having one mark and for each paper, the time limit is 80 minutes. The paper happens in the month of April. Mains happens in the same year hence one should take the opportunity of cracking both in one go. The syllabus of KCET and Mains is almost the same. The difference is in the question paper pattern and time limit. Therefore, for KCET, one should improve time limit and speed. There are cases where students are unable to solve most of the questions despite knowing all solutions. As the papers are easy, the cut-off for the papers will be high. Solving last years’ question papers of KCET will help a lot in knowing where you stand. These papers are easily available on KCET website.
KCET, in my opinion, has many questions that can be done orally or with simple calculations. Do read the paper for the first five minutes and within the first 15 minutes, find and solve such questions. For the rest questions, always read the last line of the question. This is an important point and a very useful tip one should keep in mind. The last line of the question is most important and you need to understand the question. This will save your lot of time and maintain flow in the paper.
With your KCET, you will also have Board exams. Try to manage your syllabus in such a way that you can revise your entrance tests and concepts at least once in a day. Maintain consistency with entrance preparations. Keep board topics just to score marks and study deeply the entrance exam topics. Discuss with your school teacher too before paper. He/she will suggest important points for board. Don't worry much about boards. Try to maintain good handwriting in board exams and mostly, write to the point.
Keep a short notes copy for revision. Do not read full chapters every time you revise. If you left a topic for so long, read the short notes and start only with more set of questions to solve. Questions are the key. Don't worry of failing in preparations. Take it as a learning lesson to start again.
Hope this is helpful for all KCET aspirants.

6-8 months is a sufficient time to prepare for the KCET. However, for students who are well-versed with 10+2, they will find cracking the KCET easy.
