The aspects that remain the same are:

  • Mode of the exam: The examination will be conducted ONLY in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
  • Number of papers: JEE (Advanced) 2022 will consist of two question papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 of three hours duration each. Both papers are compulsory.
  • Language: English and Hindi
  • Total duration: 6 hours, paper 1 of 3 hours and paper 2 of 3 hours

The question paper design varies in the following aspects each year:

  • Marking scheme: The marking schemes change each year. Negative marks may be awarded for incorrect answers to some of the questions. Details of the marking scheme will be provided in the “Instructions to Candidates” section at the time of examination.
  • Number of sections: There are 3 parts in each of the 2 papers - papers 1 and 2. The parts are Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Each part has 4 sections, the sections are based on varied factors of the marking scheme. The number of sections is subject to changes each year.
