The number of questions in each subjects are generally not same, but the total number of questions mostly ranges from 17 to 18 across all three subjects in both Paper 1 and 2. The number of questions will also be different for each type (MCQ, Matching, Single/Multi correct) within the subjects in paper.

Candidates practising previous year papers of JEE Advanced may notice difference in number of questions and type of questions because JEE Advanced 2026 exam pattern is not fixed. The paper pattern changes every year, and candidates can check here past year exam pattern to understand the overall structure of exam like marking scheme, total number of questions, exam duration and total marks. Candidates must note that the number of questions, total marks and marking scheme might vary from last year.
