RPF SI Vacancies 2025: The RRBs released the zone-wise RPF SI vacancies on August 28, 2025. A total of 452 vacancies have been announced for the exam. The vacancies have been released zone-wise and category-wise separately for male and female candidates for different groups and railway zones. Candidates against RPF SI vacancies are filled based on Computer-Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT), and Document Verification (DV).
RPF SI exam is conducted to select candidates for the post of Sub-Inspectors (SI) in Level 6 of 7th CPC in Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Forces (RPSF) in various zones of Indian Railways.
RPF SI vacancies were announced along with the notification. A total of 452 vacancies have been announced for RPF SI exam. The selection of candidates against the vacancies will be done based on Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) / Physical Standard Test (PST) and Document Verification & Medical Test. Any graduate candidate can apply for the exam to get recruited as Sub-Inspector (SI) in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF).

The gross salary of an RPF Sub Inspector ranges from INR 43,000 to 52,000 depending upon their place of posting. This inclusive salary amount comprises basic pay, grade pay, DA, HRA and other applicable allowances. As basic pay is INR 35,400 according to 7th CPC pay matrix, the other allowances add up substantially to the CTC.

Important Points Related to RPF SI Vacancies
The important points related to RPF SI vacancies are given below:
- Candidates can apply against the RPF SI vacancy of either a Group of Zonal Railway or RPSF
- Within a Group of Zonal Railways, candidates are required to give their preference for individual zones
- Candidates will be considered against RPF SI vacancies for a particular group and railway zones will be allocated based on merit and preference
- Vacancies announced at the time of the notification are provisional and may increase or decrease as per the requirement
- The railways reserve the right to cancel the RPF SI vacancies at its discretion
- Those opting for RPSF will have to serve in RPSF only, till they are promoted to gazetted rank
- Candidate must ensure that they fulfil the prescribed medical standard. The candidature of candidate found medically unsuitable for the post of SI will be cancelled

According to the 6th Pay Commission recommendations, the grade pay assigned to RPF SI was INR 4200. With this grade pay, the salary was calculated in the pay band of INR 9300-34800. However, after the implementation of 7th Pay Commission, the grade pay system was discontinued. Now, the RPF SI starts at the basic pay level of INR 35400 (Level-6) as per 7th CPC pay matrix.

RPF SI Selection Process
The selection process of RPF SI comprises Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT), and Document Verification (DV). The details are given below.
Computer Based Test (CBT): The CBT comprises three sections, General Awareness, Arithmetic, and General Intelligence & reasoning. The test carries 120 marks. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies are called for PET & PMT and DV based on their marks in CBT.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT): It is mandatory to pass PET and PMT. Both the stages are qualifying in nature. No marks will be awarded. Candidates qualifying PET/PMT are called for document verification.
Document verification: Based on the performance in CBT, PET and PMT, candidates are called for document verification. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test.

Shortlisted candidates compulsorily need to take training at the allotted RPF/RPSF training centre. The trainees are given INR 35,400 plus allowances as per the railway rules. Candidates need to pass the final exam at the end of the training.
