RRB Group D is a national-level exam conducted by the RRBs on behalf of the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRC). ItĀ is an excellent career opportunity after Class 10 who wish to join the Indian Railways. Yes, candidates can change their states in the RRB Group D exam. This can be done by first choosing 'Application Modification' which is available in the home page of the registration portal. After candidates have chosen the preferred state, they need to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 100 for modifying the application. Once candidates have successfully paid the application fee they can make the necessary changes and then submit it. Please note that candidates will not be able to edit your registration number, email id, mobile number, and your zone. Candidates are required to fill the application form online. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class is INR 250.
The CCAAs (Course Completed Act Apprentice) trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) for preparation of the final merit list. Such candidates are exempted from PET/PST. Railways will give one-third weightage to the NCVT marks in preparation of RRB Group D final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Earlier, CCAAs had to appear for PET and the final merit list was prepared based on the marks obtained in CBT and PET subject to qualifying the document verification.
The official notice reads, ā20 per cent of reservation in RRB Group D exam is given to CCAAs. In line with the provision contained under section 22 of Apprentice Act, CCAAs trained in the railway establishments may be given due weightage for the same such that one-third of the mark in preparation of the final merit list after the conduct of CBT shall be based on the marks obtained in their NCVT exam. They shall, however, be eligible for empanelment only after document verification and qualifying the medical standards. Such candidates will be exempted from PET since they are already trained in railway establishment and have gone through rigor working in Railways and have proved themselves in meeting the physical standard required for performing their jobs."

As per the minimum academic qualification, candidates who wish to apply for the RRB Group D exam must have qualified 10+2 while the age limit required for the exam is 18 to 36 years. Candidates must adhere to the eligibility criteria prescribed for the exam. Candidates not following the eligibility criteria are rejected from the recruitment process.
RRB NTPC application form 2025 can be filled online only. There is no facility to fill the application form offline. The medical fitness test is conducted by the railway administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post. In case of two or more candidates secure same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria i.e., older person is placed at higher merit and in case age is same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name is taken into account to break the tie. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. All candidates clearing the DV are called for medical exam. RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.
Empanelling of candidates in RRB Group D exam is done based on their performance in CBT, subject to their qualifying in PET. The appointment is offered to selected candidates provided they qualify the requisite medical fitness test and document verification. In case two or more candidates secure the same marks, their merit position is determined by the age criteria. The letter of appointment is issued by the Railway Administrations. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. It may also be noted that all candidates successful in DV are sent for Medical Examination. Once the RRB Group D CBT result is announced to select candidates for PET round. In this round, the fitness of candidates is evaluated by the board. There are two types of RRB Group D cut off. One is qualifying cut off and the other being the overall cut off. Candidates are required to secure both the cut off marks in order to qualify the exam. RRB Group D cut off is decided by the examination authority to select candidates for the next round of selection process.
RRB Group D cut off is the minimum qualifying marks which candidates need to secure inorder to qualify the exam and become eligible for the next round of selection process. RRB Group D cut off is released in PDF form and comprises the category-wise cut off marks. There are no sectional cut off marks in the exam. The examination authority releases overall cut off marks for the exam. Candidates securing equal to or more than the cut off marks are selected for the exam. RRB Group D cut off marks are calculated out of 100 marks. There are various factors based on which the cut off marks are calculated. These factors are number of vacancies, difficulty level of the exam and number of test takers. RRB Group D cut off is calculated after the normalisation of marks.
Percentile-based normalisation of marks has been done to calculate the RRB Group D cut off. In Percentile-based normalisation, the marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each shift of examinees. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candiates that have scored equal to or below that particular percentile in that examination. The percentile score of each candidate is converted into normalised marks by interpolation of raw marks into base shift to decide the RRB Group D cut off marks.
