RRB Group D 2025 exam will be conducted from November 17 to December end. The admit card will be made available by November 13. The city intimation slip will be released by November 7, 2025. What is RRB Group D exam?

RRB Group D is a national-level exam conducted by the RRBs on behalf of the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRC). ItĀ is an excellent career opportunity after Class 10 who wish to join the Indian Railways. The recruitment is conducted to select candidates for the various posts in Level-1 of the seventh CPC pay matrix, such as Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical, and S&T departments), Assistant Pointsman, and many more.Ā

Q: Ā  How to enter the preferences of posts for RRB Group D exam?
A: 

If the candidate is eligible for more than one post based on his/her educational qualification and other details furnished, he/she must set the priority/preferences for these posts. The list of posts (in the chosen Railway) for which a candidate is eligible is displayed. Similarly, if the chosen Railway has vacancies for more than one Railway, then vacancies for all such Railways for which a candidate is eligible, will be listed out. The candidate should fill their priority/preferences number in the textbox against each post that he/she is eligible for, in the Railway they are applying to.

The admit card link is made available in the respective official websites of RRBs. Candidates can download their admit cards by logging with the required credentials such as user ID and password. The hard copy of RRB Group D admit card is not sent to candidates by post. The admit card is an important document as it comprises the details related to the exam. Candidates need to carry the printed copy of the RRB Group D admit card along with one photo-identity to the exam centre.

Q: Ā  Can I change my state in the RRB group D form?
A: 

Yes, candidates can change their states in the RRB Group D exam. This can be done by first choosing 'Application Modification' which is available in the home page of the registration portal. After candidates have chosen the preferred state, they need to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 100 for modifying the application. Once candidates have successfully paid the application fee they can make the necessary changes and then submit it. Please note that candidates will not be able to edit your registration number, email id, mobile number, and your zone. Candidates are required to fill the application form online. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class is INR 250.

Q: Ā  What benefits are given to CCAAs trained in railway establishment for RRB Group D exam?
A: 

The CCAAs (Course Completed Act Apprentice) trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) for preparation of the final merit list. Such candidates are exempted from PET/PST. Railways will give one-third weightage to the NCVT marks in preparation of RRB Group D final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Earlier, CCAAs had to appear for PET and the final merit list was prepared based on the marks obtained in CBT and PET subject to qualifying the document verification.

The official notice reads, ā€œ20 per cent of reservation in RRB Group D exam is given to CCAAs. In line with the provision contained under section 22 of Apprentice Act, CCAAs trained in the railway establishments may be given due weightage for the same such that one-third of the mark in preparation of the final merit list after the conduct of CBT shall be based on the marks obtained in their NCVT exam. They shall, however, be eligible for empanelment only after document verification and qualifying the medical standards. Such candidates will be exempted from PET since they are already trained in railway establishment and have gone through rigor working in Railways and have proved themselves in meeting the physical standard required for performing their jobs."

  • Upon registration, registration number and password are generated
  • Ā In Part I of the application page, provide the details of educational qualification, community, gender, religion, Ex-Servicemen, CCAA, Minority, Economically Backward Class and Age Relaxation and other details
  • In Part II of the application page, enter the priority/preference of the RRB Group D posts

For the RRB Group D exam, the age of candidates should be between 18 and 36 years. A: 

As per the minimum academic qualification, candidates who wish to apply for the RRB Group D exam must have qualified 10+2 while the age limit required for the exam is 18 to 36 years. Candidates must adhere to the eligibility criteria prescribed for the exam. Candidates not following the eligibility criteria are rejected from the recruitment process.

Q: Ā  Can I apply for RRB NTPC exam offline?
A: 

RRB NTPC application form 2025 can be filled online only. There is no facility to fill the application form offline. The application process comprises several steps that candidates need to complete successfully. Candidates are advised to submit only one application. Submission of multiple applications can lead to rejection of application form.

After document verification in RRB Group D exam, candidates are called for a medical test. It is mandatory to clear the medical test to be considered for the recruitment exam. The medical fitness test is conducted by the railway administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post. The near vision should be Sn/ 0.6, 0.6 without glasses and must pass tests for color vision, binocular vision, night vision, mesopic vision, etc. Distant vision should be 6 / 9, 6 / 9 with or without glasses (power of lenses should not exceed 2D).

Q: Ā  What is RRB Group D selection process?
A: 

RRB Group D selection process comprises CBT, PET/PST, document verification and medical exam. The transgender candidates are given relaxation in the PET. CCAAs trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in their NCVT exam in preparation of final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PER, candidates are called for document verification as per their merit and options. In case of two or more candidates secure same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria i.e., older person is placed at higher merit and in case age is same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name is taken into account to break the tie. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. All candidates clearing the DV are called for medical exam. RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.

A: 

Empanelling of candidates in RRB Group D exam is done based on their performance in CBT, subject to their qualifying in PET. The appointment is offered to selected candidates provided they qualify the requisite medical fitness test and document verification. In case two or more candidates secure the same marks, their merit position is determined by the age criteria. The letter of appointment is issued by the Railway Administrations. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. It may also be noted that all candidates successful in DV are sent for Medical Examination. Clearing of such Medical Examination by additional candidates (those called for DV beyond the notified number of vacancies) will give such candidates no right to be considered for appointment. Candidates may note that RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.

Once the RRB Group D CBT result is announced to select candidates for PET round. In this round, the fitness of candidates is evaluated by the board. Candidates qualifying the PET are called for document verification and medical exam. PET is qualifying in nature and it is mandatory to pass it. Candidates are called for document verification as per their merit. Post document verification, candidates are called for medical.

A: 

Percentile scores are scores based on the relative performance of all candidates who appear for the examination. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each shift. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination. Therefore, the topper (the highest score) of each shift get the same percentile of 100 which is desirable. In percentitle-based normalisation, the marks obtained between the highest and the lowest scores are also converted to appropriate percentiles. In case of two or more candidates secure same normalised percentile score, their merit position is determined by age criteria.
