The SSC GD notification officially prescribes the latest eligibility criteria for the exam. The notification mentions all the components of the SSC GD eligibility criteria, such as the educational qualification, age limit, and nationality requirements for the exam. The notification also prescribes the relaxation provided to certain categories. Candidates should read and understand the eligibility requirements for the SSC GD exam to avoid any last-minute cancellation of candidature. Candidates should note that the SSC GD Constable notification is the first and the only official document for clarity regarding the exam-related queries, such as pattern, syllabus and selection process.

The applications for the GD Constable exam are invited with the release of the official notification. Candidates need to fill out the SSC GD application form in three parts – registration, application and fee. Have a look at the process in detail below:

Step 1: SSC GD Registration 2026

Candidates need to register for the SSC GD Constable exam on the official website of the commission – ssc.gov.in. Some of the details that candidates need to put in the SSC OTR registration form are:

• Name
• Father’s name
• Gender
• Date of birth
• Category
• Email ID
• Phone number
• Permanent address

Candidates also need to upload scanned photos and signatures at this stage.

Step 2: SSC GD Application Form 2026

To fill SSC GD Constable application form 2026, candidates needed to log in to their registered accounts using an email ID and password. After that, candidates need to fill in the remaining details in the online form such as:

• Preference for exam centre
• Preference for CAPF
• Domicile state/UT
• Educational qualification

Step 3: SSC GD Application Fee 2026

Lastly, candidates could pay the SSC GD 2026 application fee of INR 100 in online mode via credit card/debit card/net banking. The candidates can also pay the SSC GD application fee in offline mode through a bank challan. It may be noted that women of all categories, Ex-Servicemen (ExS) and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories are exempted from the payment of application fee.

The Commission will announce the number of vacancies to be filled in the year 2026 in the official notification itself. The SSC GD vacancy list will be released state-wise and post-wise. Candidates will be able to check the SSC GD total vacancies after downloading the PDF file. 

The SSC announced 53,690 vacancies in 2025, 46,617 vacancies in 2024 and 24,369 in 2022. The number of vacancies notified in the SSC Constable 2021 exam was 25,271.
