NIT Rourkela fee refund policy states that after the last withdrawal/cancellation date of JOSSA 2026, if an admitted student cancels admission/ withdraws/leaves the institute without completing the entire programme, all fees paid including the caution deposit will be forfeited by the institute. Mess advance may be refunded after deduction of dues, if any. This clause is applicable even before formal registration to the 1st semester and starting of classes.

Both NIT Rourkela and NIT Calicut are top Engineering institutes. However, JoSAA R6 closing ranks for B.Tech in CSE at NIT Rourkela is 2883, whereas for NIT Calicut it is 4521. The Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Department of the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is one of the most well-respected and the oldest departments present in the country.
