NIT Rourkela- Premier institute nurturing excellence in engineering.
Placements: According to 2024 data, the highest package is 1.2 Cr and the average package is around 15 LPA. Almost 90 to 100% of students got placed, and the remaining students went for higher studies. Also, the placement statistics of NIT Rourkela are very good.
Infrastructure: NIT Rourkela has a properly managed library, and almost every class has a smart board. The library is connected with Wi-Fi. Every department has its own lab. Almost all labs are in the best condition. Hostels are connected to Wi-Fi, and in the hostel mess, the food quality is good.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good in nature and supportive. The teachers teaching in the institute have almost fifteen to twenty years of experience. The course curriculum is relevant; it makes the students ready for the industry. The course curriculum in NIT Rourkela is very good.
Other: Every student in this college can follow their passion. There are many types of clubs and societies for extracurricular activities.

College is very good for providing an environment for students where they can develop themselves.
Placements: On behalf of recent data, 55 students out of 62 job offers were placed, and others went on to higher studies. At that time, 21.65 LPA and 4 LPA were the maximum and minimum, respectively, in my degree. Tata Steel, JSW, and Jindal are the top recruiters in my course. Commonly, above 90% of students in my course got internships from different companies like Tata Steel, JSW, and RSP. Top roles offered are junior engineer, technical society, maintenance manager, consultancy roles, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for our course is sufficient. Wi-Fi is always in good condition, but there is some network traffic sometimes. Classrooms are good; ACs are not very effective in the summer season. One of the best things here is the library, which contains more than 90 thousand books. There is always active Wi-Fi that maintains a study environment.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They ask students to reach them at their office on working days and weekends. Their teaching qualities are also very good. Especially in the metallurgy branch, the whole 8 semesters are arranged in a job-ready curriculum at the end. The best part is the final year when they assign professors to the students and prepare them for interviews and the final call to the industry.
Other: This course is not very hectic and doesn't create any burden, so I could give time to my learning, which is why I chose this. Everything is good in this branch. Fests are always there to enhance college life for a duration of 2 to 3 months, and extracurricular activities are always there, like sports and cultural programs. Many clubs in various fields support every kind of development, so this institute balances the development of a student in various fields according to his/her interest.

The college has a 90% placement percentage, vibrant campus life, high research opportunities.
Placements: 90% of students got placed in my course. The highest package is 21.40 LPA, the lowest package is 4.00 LPA, and the average is 10.37 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Tata Steel, JSW Steel, and SAIL. About 60% of students mostly do either summer research at IITs or in the core sector, like Rourkela Steel Plant or Tata Steel.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi is decent, not having very high speed, but it is capable of normal day-to-day tasks. The labs are old in infrastructure and have old equipment, while some labs have modern equipment. Classrooms are good, have central AC, and projectors too. The library is vast and has a huge collection of books, also providing digital access, and has a good Wi-Fi connection. The hostels are decently big and have dual occupancy. The quality of wood provided is decent, and it also provides medical facilities. The sports and games culture is good.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and knowledgeable; their teaching quality is good and very helpful. Some courses are relevant, while others are not. The students require effort from them to be industry-ready. The semesters are not highly difficult, with more than 80% passing percentage.
Other: The reason I chose this course is because of my JEE Main rank and my interest in research opportunities, which this course provides. The best thing is that very few people opt for this course, making the placements easier. Python and MATLAB modules should be included to keep students in pace with industry needs.

Best college in Odisha in terms of everything.
Placements: No doubt, this is the best college in Odisha in terms of placement, and the best thing about this is that more than 95% of students get jobs and internships. This is in Rourkela, and it is a mining area, so generally, mining students get good opportunities. Overall, all kinds of companies visit our campus, and generally, the average package ranges between 11 LPA and 14 LPA, and for higher courses like ECE and CSE, the average package is 20 LPA+.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and computer labs are well-equipped and give a very modern feeling, but the hostel rooms are not that good. Wi-Fi is available in the computer labs, and LAN is available in the hostel rooms. Some parts of the hostel are also covered by Wi-Fi, and places like the study room and library contain Wi-Fi facilities. The central library contains all kinds of books (both academic and non-academic). Mess food is not very good, but some restaurants on campus are also very good.
Faculty: All the teachers are well qualified, and almost everyone has more than 10 years of teaching experience. Semester exams are generally easy, but it is difficult to score full marks. The curriculum is well updated. Students with a CGPA below 5 are given special attention in the summer. Teachers are very friendly, and although most of the professors are from South India and Odisha, everyone understands Hindi and English. Professors use the English language for teaching during the class. Classes are held only on weekdays (Monday to Friday), and weekends are holidays.
Other: 50% of the crowd is from Odisha only, but the remaining crowd is from other parts of India (especially from Kerala, Andhra, Telangana, UP, Bihar, and West Bengal) and the world also (especially Bhutan and Nepal). The college is away from the main city, so it becomes difficult to go to the city, and students have to travel 6-7 km to shopping malls and cinemas.

A college in the Steel City of India.
Placements: The placement percentage is almost 100 (you will most likely get placed if you survive 4 years of college). The highest package is nearly 20 LPA, the average is 10.78 LPA, and the minimum is 4 LPA. Around 15–20 out of 60 students get internships. In steel plants, we are posted as GETs (Graduate Engineer Trainees) in the starting phase. Many analytics companies also recruit. Many students go for off-campus placements for tech roles.
Infrastructure: We get 24 hours of Wi-Fi, and there are rare chances of power cuts. Mess food is okay. The library has AC and is open till 10 PM on normal days and till 6 PM on college holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There is a health center for basic medical facilities.
Faculty: The 85% attendance policy matters a lot. College faculty are almost similar to other colleges (some are good, and some are not so good). The curriculum is a little bit outdated, but this is a problem of all IITs and NITs in India. If you don't study at all, only then you will fail. Otherwise, faculty generally pass all students, except in Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronics Engineering, and Engineering Mathematics.

Placements in previous year were not good as a big company had bad reviews for our students.
Placements: The percentage of students getting placed under metallurgical and materials engineering is 91.2%. The highest package is 21.65 LPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA. The average package is 10.22 LPA. Mostly recruiting companies are Tata Steel Limited (TSL), JSW, Hindalco, Bharat Petroleum, Vedanta, Adani Group, and many more.
Infrastructure: Many facilities are provided like we have 2 buildings which are solely meant for experiments and classes, while the other one is for the professors and some lab-related work. Alongside the facilities of hostels are well-rounded, and the food is quite awesome. Sports-related facilities are also provided and maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified in their domains. Most of them have degrees from IITs, and they have invaluable experience in their fields. Course curriculum is good but not very modern. It still needs some improvement but overall it's good enough. Talking about semester exams, they are of quite decent level and mostly all students pass semester exams, if not then they get a chance to pass them in summer or winter vacation.
Other: Events are organised mostly by students. For funds and approval, the college has its own SAC (student activity center) which regulates all fests, events, festivals, and all extracurricular activities. It has 70 clubs in it which it funds either through sponsorship or through college funds. These clubs are under 4 societies namely (games and sports society, literary and cultural society, technical society, and film and music society).

Good placements in 2024 in the core also a deep review about NIT Rourkela.
Placements: I am a sophomore from the department of metallurgical and materials engineering. This year my seniors almost above 90% of them got placed and some of them were chosen for higher studies. As far as I know, the lowest package was around 6 LPA and the highest was around 19 LPA from my department. Top recruiters of my branch are Jindal Steel, Tata Steel, GAIL, and other similar companies. The opportunity for on-campus internships is a little less here approximately 25% of students got on-campus internships which is a little lower here.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good here. Wi-Fi is available in every room, hostels have study rooms with AC in each block. Labs are also good, classrooms have AC also the big Biju Patnayak library is available here which is open till 11:00 PM also reading rooms are open till 1:00 AM. The quality of food available is also good except for 1-2 days in which they give a very bad quality of vegetables. My hostel has a badminton court, basketball court, table tennis, gym, big cricket stadium, and football stadium.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified but not very good at teaching and making the students understand, some of them are very good at teaching also. Most of them have experience of more than 10 years. Course curriculum is good and makes one industry-ready. Semester exams are medium-level, if you study you can score well. Pass percentage is above 95%.
Other: I chose this course because I qualified JEE Main and wanted to take admission in a government college only to be given a low fee according to my rank I got this college. The best thing about my course is you get time for coding and side hustle. Events are very good here every month there a big events of each clubs like coding club, finance club, technical fest, and entrepreneurship club. Scholarship is based on family income.

Best institute for engineering.
Placements: The institute holds a strong placement record. MNCs like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Deloitte, Tata Steel, PWC, Qualcomm, Infosys, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, and JP Morgan are top recruiters that frequently recruit from NIT Rourkela. Core companies like L&T, Tata Steel, and BHEL hire actively for streams like mechanical, civil, electrical, and metallurgy.
Infrastructure: The campus has well-equipped academic buildings with modern classrooms, seminar halls, and advanced laboratories for hands-on learning. Each department boasts state-of-the-art facilities for research and experimentation. The Biju Patnaik Central Library is a hub of knowledge, with over 70,000 books, journals and digital resources, alongside a comfortable study environment. High-speed internet is available across the campus. The computer center is equipped with modern hardware and software for research and academic purposes. NIT Rourkela has special grounds for hockey, football, cricket, badminton, etc.
Faculty: There are very intelligent faculty members in our prestigious institute who have done master's and Ph.Ds. from prestigious institutes in India as well as abroad. Our faculty members are very dedicated, disciplined, and quite good in every aspect. They are also hardworking. They care and support us in every aspect.
Other: From an overall view, my institute, NIT Rourkela, is a perfect university with an area of 1,200 acres including many more splendid scenic views and amazing water bodies. It also organises many events and fests like the multiethnic fest named Cosmopolitan. The largest technical fest named Innovation in Eastern India. Roots, Nitrutsav, etc., are also held.
