The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a crucial gateway for aspiring lawyers seeking admission into the prestigious Master of Laws (LLM) program at the National Law University, Delhi (NLUD). Analyzing the past four years of the AILET LLM exam reveals some interesting trends and provides valuable insights for future test-takers.

Overall Difficulty Level: The AILET LLM exam has consistently been challenging, ranging from moderate to difficult. However, the 2022 exam stood out as the most demanding, with lengthy passages and a complex question pattern. This emphasizes the need for thorough preparation and efficient time management.

Paper Length: While the paper length has varied slightly over the years, it has generally been manageable within the allotted time. Candidates who can effectively manage their time and prioritize questions strategically can maximize their scores.

Cut-Offs Steadily Increasing: The cut-off marks for AILET LLM have been steadily increasing over the past four years, from 71 in 2020 to an expected 90 in 2023. This reflects the growing competition for admission into the coveted LLM programme at NLUD.

Exam Pattern: Consistency with Subtle Variations: While the overall structure of the AILET LLM exam has remained consistent, there have been some subtle variations in the number and types of questions. The merging of the English Language and Logical Reasoning sections in 2023 is a notable example. This highlights the importance of staying updated with the latest exam pattern and adapting your preparation accordingly.

Section-wise Trends:

  • Legal Reasoning: This section has consistently proven to be the most challenging, with questions requiring strong analytical and critical reasoning skills.
  • Current Affairs & General Knowledge: This section is generally considered the easiest, but staying informed about current affairs is crucial for maximizing your score.
  • English Language & Logical Reasoning: The merging of these sections in 2023 added a new dimension to the exam. Candidates need to be adept at both language skills and reasoning abilities to excel in this section.

Additional Observations:

  • Time management skills are crucial for success in the AILET LLM exam, especially with the increasing length of the paper.
  • Staying informed on current affairs is essential for doing well in the Current Affairs & General Knowledge section.
  • Practice with previous year's papers and mock tests is highly recommended to familiarize yourself with the exam format and types of questions.
