AILET Reservation: Program-wise Seat Matrix, Documents, Issuing Authority, Deadline Reservation

AILET exam 2027 will be held on December 13, 2026. NLU Delhi conducts  AILET entrance exam for admission into its BA LLB and LLM courses. University gives admission to BA LLB (Hons.) program for 120 seats and LLM program for 81 seats. AILET seat intake is divided among different categories such as General, SC, ST, and EWS. 

National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) conducts AILET 2027 entrance exam for admission into its BA LLB and LLM courses. University offers admission to BA LLB program for 120 seats and LLM program for 81 seats. AILET seat intake is divided between different categories such as General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS. 

Regular seat intake does not include supernumerary seats available for special categories like Kashmiri Migrants and Residents of Jammu & Kashmir. Further, NLU Delhi also has a fixed intake for Foreign Nationals (5 seats) & OCI or PIO (5 seats) for both BA LLB and LLM programs. Admission for Indian nationals to NLU Delhi will be based on AILET 2027 Result.

AILET 2027 Result, Counselling & Seat Allotment

NLU Delhi will conduct AILET 2027 examination on Sunday, December 13, 2026, and results are scheduled to be announced in late December 2026. Based on AILET 2027 scores, candidates will be shortlisted and receive invites for AILET online counselling. As per official notification, NLU Delhi conducts seat allotment across multiple provisional merit lists. If seats remain vacant, subsequent spot rounds take place.

AILET 2027 Seat Matrix for SC or ST Category

To apply for seats under SC and ST categories, candidates must show a valid certificate issued by proper authorities. certificate should be given by any of following officers:

AILET 2027: Filling Remaining seats

• Filling of vacant SC or ST seats - In case there are any unfilled seats reserved for SC category, then these seats will be converted to ST category and vice versa. Also, vacant seats in these two categories will not be offered to any other reserved category.
• Conversion of SC or ST seats to General-category seats - If SC seats remain vacant even after converting to ST, then such seats will be treated as GENERAL category seats. These seats will then be filled according to AILET 2027 result.

OBC category - Issuing Authority, Deadline

22 per cent of seats are reserved for OBC Category. To be considered for admission under this category, candidate must show valid OBC NCL certificate issued by 

• District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Collector, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Collector, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, City Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Executive Magistrate.
• Chief Presidency Magistrate or Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate or Presidency Magistrate
• Revenue Officer not below rank of Tehsildar and
• Sub-Divisional Officer of area where candidate and his family normally resides. 

EWS category - Issuing Authority, Deadline

10 per cent of seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Section. 

To be considered under EWS category, candidate needs to give Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Authority.

• District Magistrate or Additional District Magistrate or Collector or Deputy Commissioner or Additional Deputy Commissioner or 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate or Taluka Magistrate or Executive Magistrate or Extra Assistant Commissioner
• Chief Presidency Magistrate or Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate or Presidency Magistrate
• Revenue Officer not below rank of Tehsildar and
• Sub-Divisional Officer of area where candidate and his family normally resides.

PwD category - Issuing Authority

A horizontal reservation of 5 percent is available for candidates belonging to Persons with Disabilities category. Reservation of seats is done by provisions of “ Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016‟. 

To be eligible for this category, candidate must possess a valid PwD certificate issued by authority as per provisions of “ Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 will be eligible to apply under this category."

Kashmiri Migrants 

One supernumerary seat each for BA LLB and LLM programs.

Kashmiri Migrants, including Kashmiri Pandit families  who are living in Kashmir Valley, are eligible for admission under this category. 1 seat is earmarked under KM category.

Since Kashmiri Migrant quota is supernumerary, it will not be converted to any other category even if seats stay unfilled. Candidate needs to submit a valid certificate issued by authority.

Residents of Jammu and Kashmir 

Two supernumerary seats for BA LLB program are earmarked for Residents of Jammu & Kashmir.  Applicants under this category have to produce a valid certificate issued by authority at time of provisional admission. 

Further, since seats in this category are supernumerary, they will not be converted to any other category.

Provisional Admission 

1. Category certificate have to be produced in original at time of provisional admission. If candidate fails to do so, no provisional admission will be granted. 
2. If seats reserved for PwD category remain vacant, such seats will be offered to candidates of respective category from which horizontal reservation has been provided.
3. Unfilled seats under Foreign National Category will be carried over to General Category and filled on Merit.
4. A Horizontal reservation of 30 per cent of entirety shall be filled by eligible women candidates, including those selected in reserved and foreign national categories.
