Appearing for PU UGLAW? Here is how you can prepare for each section of PU UGLAW 2025 including GK and Current Affairs, English, Aptitude for Law and Mental Ability. 

Panjab University, Chandigarh will be conducting the undergraduate law entrance exam also known as PU UGLAW for admissions to BA LLB and BCom LLB courses. The entrance test is scheduled to be held on April 27, 2025 in paper-based test mode. Candidates appearing for PU UG LAW 2025 will be attempting 100 questions in 1 hour 30 minutes duration. The question paper of PU UGLAW 2025 will be mainly based on four subjects – General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Mental Ability, English Language and Aptitude for Law. Candidates appearing for the exam should prepare for each section of PU UGLAW 2025 according to the subject knowledge and weightage. PU UGLAW GK and Current Affairs section

This is the highest weighted and easily scoring section in PU UGLAW 2025. Candidates should prepare for past years current affairs and general awareness topics as under:

PU UGLAW Aptitude for Law section

The section will carry 20 questions and it will be based on the following topics:

  • Torts
  • Law of Crimes
  • Vicarious Liability
  • Strict Liability
  • International Law
  • Legal Awareness covering Constitutional Law and Polity
  • Contracts and Constitutional Law
  • Intellectual Property Rights

How to prepare?

Candidates can prepare for Law Aptitude section by:

  • Reading and making notes on legal terms, facts, and principles on a regular basis
  • Also note down the current events and general knowledge of the legal domain
  • Go through only authentic sources and fact-check based websites to prepare for GK and current affairs
  • Refer to the newspaper, magazines and books for better coverage
  • Take mock tests on a regular basis to enhance speed and accuracy in this section

PU UGLAW Mental Ability section

The section Mental Ability is designed to test a candidate’s logical and analytical reasoning skills. The questions are based on cognitive skills as the topics include:

  • Directions
  • Critical Reasoning
  • Syllogism
  • Series
  • Blood Relations
  • Analogy

Many candidates find the Mental Ability section to be tough; however, they need not worry as they can score well in this if right techniques are applied. Moreover, the section is a low weightage part of PU UGLAW 2020, therefore candidates should aim to practice and score well in this section as under:

  • Clarify concepts at least 2-3 topics per day and practice questions sufficiently
  • Make notes on the topics and, find correct techniques to solve these time-taking questions
  • Study Data Interpretation based questions and practice questions on them on a regular basis
  • It is important to reach logical conclusions in this section for each topic as no question is based on mere gut feeling
  • Often, decision-based questions where statements-conclusions are given get confusing, therefore, learn the tricks to find the correct answer
  • It is better to practice mental arithmetic for this section to get answers quickly

PU UGLAW English Language section

The section carries 10 marks and, is based on common English syllabus as under:

  • Word Meaning and Usage
  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Synonyms
  • Antonyms
  • Para Jumbles

Therefore, to score well in this section, candidates should:

  • Read on a regular basis and learn new words and their meanings
  • Practice comprehension based questions at least 4-5 every day
  • Learn the grammar, common errors to avoid etc.
  • Take mock-tests after clarifying the concepts from books

The candidates who have qualified PU B.A. LLB or B.Com.LL.B. (Hons.) 5-Years Integrated Course Entrance Test-2025 and have passed 10+2 examination are eligible for admission to the courses for the session 2025.

The provisional merit list for the PU UGLaw 2025 will be published on the July 03, 2025. Candidates who qualified the exam will have to fill the admission form separately to participate in the counselling process.

The PU UGLAW 2025 tentative merit list will be published on the official website on June 25, 2025. Candidates can raise objections regarding tentative merit list on the basis of already filled up information by candidate until June 27, 2025.

Candidates who qualified the PU UGLAW 2025 exam can fill out the form online until June 05, 2025. The PU UGLAW admission forms were made available on May 22, 2025 on the official website. The last date to send the hard copies to the office will be June 09, 2025.

Yes, PU UGLAW admission form for the 5-year integrated BA LLB and BCom LLB course is released on the official website. The last date to fill the Panjab University 5-year LLB admission form is June 05, 2025.

There are some prohibited items at the PU UGLAW 2025 exam centre. Some of them are listed below.

  • Pager
  • Cellular phone
  • Wireless set
  • Bluetooth device
  • Calculator
  • Any textual material

In a nutshell, do not carry any items other than a black pen, admit card and photo ID proof at the exam hall.

PU BA LLB and PU BCom LLB Admit Card will be available for downloading from the website by the candidate using his/her own Login ID and Password. The candidates will be communicated through email only for this purpose. Please note that candidates will not receive the admit card through the post.

Candidates should carry a valid ID proof including Driving licence, Aadhar card, Voter card, passport, etc. Admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the exam hall. Without the PU UG Law admit card, no candidate shall be allowed to enter and sit for the exam.
