Dr Heet Manvar, who did his MBBS from BJ Medical college, Ahmedabad has secured All India Rank 1 in INI CET 2024 July session. He believes candidates should start making exam preparation right from 2nd year of MBBS. He holds the opinion, analyzing previous year questions and appearing in mock test is key to success. In this exclusive interview, Dr Heet Manvar, AIR 1, INI CET 2024 shares how an aspirant can crack one of the toughest medical exam in medical field. AIIMS had conducted the exam on May 19 and INI CET 2024 July result was declared on May 25, 2024.

Q. Congratulation for securing Rank 1 in INI CET July 2024 exam. Tell us what was your reaction after hearing the news.
A. Results generally come in the evening, but it suddenly came in the morning this time, so I wasn't expecting it and suddenly realized I am AIR 1, so I felt on top of the world.
At times, questions get repeated in the INI CET exam. But candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly so that they can answer every possible question in the exam. As the INI CET is one of the toughest exams, candidates should focus on concepts. At least two revisions are required before the exam date. After finishing the INI CET syllabus, candidates should appear in a mock test and solve previous question papers. Appearing in the mock test and analyzing their performance will boost their confidence.
AIIMS doesn't release the sectional weightage for INI CET exam. However, experts believe clinical section comprises maximum weightage in the exam especially medicine and surgery. Both medicine and surgery comprises more than 80 percent questions in the exam. A good number of questions are asked from pathology as well.
Q. Was it your first attempt? Did you also appear for NEET PG last year or any other exam?
A. It was my first attempt at any entrance exam.
Q. Share with us your education background including your MBBS, internship and all.
A. I've done my MBBS from BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad. I completed my internship in March 2024.
Q. Did you have the dream to become doctor right from childhood? What encouraged you to choose the medical field?
A. Yes, like most Indian parents, my parents wanted me to become a doctor. Then, as I grew up, I realized that doctors can take away others' pain & get a lot of blessings & respect in return. So I decided to become a doctor and make my parents proud.

The exam pattern comprises details about exam such as mode, medium, total number of question their type, marking scheme etc. The exam is scheduled to be held on November 9, 2025 in computer-based mode. A total of 200 qustions will be asked and candidates will be provided 3 hours to answer them.
No. AIIMS doesn't make changes in INI CET exam pattern every year. From last few years since the exam was started in 2020, AIIMS has changed the pattern only once and that was only minor one. As per the existing exam patterm, the exam is held in computer-based mode in English language only. There is a provision of negative marking as well.
AIIMS releases INI CET pattern along with the information brochure. The question paper pattern comprises details about the mode, medium of the exam, total number of questions asked, type of questions, allotted time, and marking scheme. INI CET exam is held in computer-based mode in English medium. According to INI CET 2025 paper pattern, a total of 200 multiple choice questions are asked and candidates get 3 hours to answer them. Candidates get 1 mark for every right answer while -1/3 for every wrong answer. It must be noted that the official question paper and answer key are not released for INI CET exam.
Q.When did you start preparation for INI CET July 2024? Share some preparation strategy with us.
A. I started my preparation from 2nd year of MBBS. Starting early is the key. After finishing the INI CET syllabus, candidates should analyze previous year questions to get to know overall difficulty level and weightage of questions.
Q. Did you rely on self-study or joined any coaching class?
A. Self-study is the key as you get to know which areas you need to work upon and you plan accordingly. Apart from self-study, I did coaching from Marrow as well.
Q. Which subjects were your strengths and which one was were weak areas?
A. Medicine comes naturally to me while I have to work hard for Surgery.
Q. What message do you want to give future aspirant who will be appearing for INI CET in near future?
A. Focus on basic sciences, ophthalmology and psychiatry like subjects that are tested heavily in INICET as compared to NEET. Give adequate mock tests to improve time management skills.

Yes, there will be negative marking in INI CET 2025 exam. According to INI CET pattern, -1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. For right answer, +1 mark will be awarded to candidates. Candidates are advised to answer only those questions where they feel confident of answer as negative marking may put toll on overall score. INI CET 2025 July session is scheduled to be held on May 18 in computer-based mode. Registration for INI CET 2025 July will begin most likley in the third week of March 2025.
