INI CET 2026 Counselling: How to Register, Fill Preferences and Seat Allotment Process

INI CET counselling session will be held online by AIIMS Delhi for the qualifying candidates to register and fill their preferences for colleges and courses. Read the article to know the whole process of INI CET 2026 November counselling/seat allocation.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will soon release the INI CET 2026 information bulletin on its official website at www.aiimsexams.ac.in. Students should check the INI CET 2026 exam dates to plan their studies. AIIMS will also share the expected dates for the results and INI CET counselling. The INI CET 2026 exam will be held on May 16, 2026. AIIMS conducts the INI CET exam two times every year. The last date to apply for INI CET 2026 will be given in the information brochure.

For INI CET 2026 November session, the open round counselling result was released on February 21, 2026. The result was available online in PDF format. The reporting date for the open round was February 28, 2026. The last date to register for the open round was February 7, 2026. INI CET counselling is done to give seats in postgraduate courses. These courses include MD, MS, DM (6 years), M Ch (6 years), and MDS. Seats are given in 23 institutes. These include 19 AIIMS, JIPMER, and NIMHANS. The INI CET counselling happens in four rounds. First is the mock round. After that come Round 1 and Round 2, and the last round is the open round.

Reservation of Medical Seats for INI CET 2026 Counselling

According to the government policy, out of 100 per cent total postgraduate medical seats, 59.5 per cent of the seats are reserved for those candidates who belong to the recognised reserved category. Students belonging to the general category have to compete for 40.5 per cent of the seats. The table below contains the category-wise seat reservation as per the previous year.

INI CET 2026 Counselling Procedure (November Exam)

INI CET 2026 admission process for PG courses through the INI CET entrance exam begins with registrations, followed by other key events, including counselling. Those who qualify for the entrance exam will have to register to participate in the INI CET counselling. Candidates will have to submit college preferences and speciality on the official website of AIIMS Delhi. The institute will then prepare the seat allotment list for INI CET 2026 counselling based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam and the choices submitted by them. Below is the step-by-step guide for INI CET counselling 2026:

1. Registration

• Candidates register themselves on the official website of aiimsexams.org to apply for the INI CET counselling 2026

• After this registration process is completed, a new candidate ID and password is generated

2. Filling the preferences

In this step, candidates have to log in to their registered account and follow these instructions

• Click on “Make Choice”

• To add choice, select the preferred AIIMS institute

• Now click on “Add Choice”

• To remove a choice, click on “Delete” option next to the drop-down

• After filling in the preferences, click on “Save”

• Recheck your preferences and confirm the choices

• Choices once submitted cannot be changed

3. Allotment result for the mock round of INI CET counselling 2026

Based on the preferences filled by the registered candidates, the seat allotment list for mock round of INI CET counselling is prepared.

4. Final submission of campus preference

• This is the final chance for a candidate to edit or change the preferences before the final seat allotment list for INI CET is prepared

• Candidates who fail to fill in the preferences for a round of INI CET counselling 2026 will not be considered for the next round of counselling as well

5. Seat allotment list for INI CET 2026

A final list of the candidates selected is prepared and displayed on the website.

Step 6: Accept or decline the allocated seat

Those who make it to the seat allotment list of INI CET have to choose whether they want to accept or refuse the seat allotted to them. After logging in to their registered account, they have to choose from the following options:

Option 1: Candidate wishes to continue with the seat allocated to him/her, and does not wish to participate in the further rounds of INI CET counselling

Option 2: Candidate accepts the seat allocated to him/her, but would like to participate in the next round of INI CET Nov counselling

Option 3: Candidate refuses the seat allocated to him/her, but wishes to participate in the next round of counselling of INI CET 

Option 4: Candidate refuses the seat allocated to him/her and also opts out of the next round of counselling for INI CET 

Step 7: Reporting to the Institute for verification of the documents

Candidates who accept the seat allocated to them have to report to the allotted institute for the verification of the documents. Those who fail to report to the institute will lose the seat allocated to them and will not be eligible to participate in the next round of counselling. The candidate can, however, participate in the open round of INI CET counselling.
