Q:   What is the NEET MDS syllabus?
A: 

The syllabus of NEET MDS exam is the same as what students have studied for their BDS course. There are a total of 17 subjects which are covered under the NEET MDS syllabus. According to NBE, the NEET MDS syllabus is as per the latest Regulations for BDS courses notified by the Dental Council of India with prior approval of the Government of India. It is expected that the NEET MDS syllabus will remain the same compared to last year. 

NEET MDS Syllabus 2026

The NEET MDS 2026 syllabus is based on the syllabus of the BDS course. There are 17 major subjects on the basis of which the question paper is prepared for the exam. In Part A, there are seven subjects, and in Part B, there are ten subjects. Here is a list of topics to prepare for the exam:

  4. General Medicine
  5. Public Health Dentistry
  6. Oral Medicine and Radiology

NEET MDS Exam Pattern 2026

The NEET MDS 2026 exam pattern is the same as last year. The NBE will provide a sectional time limit between the two sections. It is an online exam in which aspirants will be expected to solve 240 multiple-choice objective-type questions in a duration of 180 minutes/3 hours. There will be two sections: Part A and Part B, of 75 minutes and 105 minutes’ duration, respectively. The number of questions in Part A and Part B will be 100 and 140, respectively. NEET MDS 2026 Marking Scheme

As the question paper will carry 240 questions, each question will be of 4 marks each, and there will also be negative marking. For choosing an incorrect question, -1 mark will be deducted. For all the unanswered questions, no mark will be deducted.

NEET MDS Mock Tests

In addition to the books, candidates need to refer to some more study materials to practice for the exam. The NBEMS, which is an official conducting body, releases an official mock test around 10 days before the exam date. The exam aspirants are advised to appear for the official mock test, as there are chances for the exam to be based on the pattern of the NEET MDS mock test. It is also known as the NEET MDS demo test. In this mock, questions are asked based on the NEET MDS syllabus 2026. This test should be taken to get accustomed to the navigation system and the time-bound section. Please do not consider it to check your preparation level.

Along with the mock test and NEET MDS preparation books, candidates should also refer to the NEET MDS Previous Year Question Papers. National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) does not release the offifical question papers. We cannot provide the NEET MDS question papers.
