IIIT Delhi: Courses, Admission 2026, Fees, Placements, Ranking, Cutoff

JEE Main rank is accepted by both DTU and IIT Delhi, followed by the JAC Delhi counselling process for admission to various BTech specialisations. According to the JAC Delhi Round 4 cutoff 2026, the closing rank for CSE admission for the General HS category was 14806. While for IIIT Delhi, it was 1129.

Therefore, going by the cutoffs for both institutions, DTU is relatively easier for CSE admissions. Candidates who qualified for DTU can view other parameters to make an informed decision. 

The total tuition fee for MTech in IIIT Delhi ranges between INR 3.7 lakh and INR 6 lakh. NIT Trichy MTech fee is INR 1.4 lakh. As per placement statistics, the median package is recorded to be INR 18.17 LPA for IIITD and INR 7 LPA for NIT Trichy. Hence, it can be concluded that the fee is higher at IIITD. It must be noted that the fee given for both institutes is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative. But, this institute also has got a good ranking as per a recognised ranking body. Thus, if given a choice, IIIT Delhi is a better option than NIT Trichy.

DTU ranks 29 and IIIT Delhi ranks 85 as per the NIRF ranking 2024 under the “Engineering” category. The total tuition fee for BTech is INR 5.3 lakh to INR 7.4 lakh at DTU and INR 19.6 lakh at IIIT Delhi. The highest domestic and international package offered during IIIT Delhi BTech placements 2024 stood at INR 49 LPA and INR 109 LPA, respectively. Additionally, in DTU, the highest package offered in 2022 was INR 64.23 lakh. Considering the mentioned data, DTU is definitely a better choice for BTech course aspirants.

The technology institute accepts various national-level entrance exams. The table given below mentions the course-wise accepted entrance exams:

Candidates need to be Class 12 pass with minimum 70% aggregate in five subjects including Physics, Maths and Chemistry and 70% in Mathematics in Class 12 from a recognised board to become eligible for the BTech programme. Moreover, the aspirant should have passed the qualifying exam from a recognised board. During the form filling and at the time of admission, candidate must hold the pass certificate for verification purposes.

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi offers UG, PG, and Diploma across Engineering stream. The fee strcture of the programmes is INR 25,000- 19.55 lakh. Candidates must apply for the course through the application form and clear the IIIT Delhi admission process in order to be eligible to pay the course fee. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply by visiting IIIT Delhi official website. Admission to the MTech CSE, ECE, and CB is based on GATE score. For CB course, selected candidates have to go through an online interview round as well. Moreover, for the MTech CB DBT seats, aspirants are selected based on GAT-B exam scores followed by an interview round. Additionally, for MTech (Research) course admission, PGCAT-IIIT Delhi exam score is accepted following which candidates have to go through an offline interview round. For some of the seats, aspirants are selected on merit-basis.

In 2022, the cutoff ranks for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering at IIIT Delhi other than General category was - 11759 for OBC, 45090 for SC, 61386 for ST, and 5266 for EWS. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female. 

The cutoff is released for every counselling round. As per the data collected from external sources, for M.Tech CSE in IIIT Delhi, candidates with a GATE score of above 60 and for ECE, a score above 65 shall be good enough to get selected. The candidates selected for admission after the test and inteview round get 15 days time to block the seat. For the same, a candidate needs to pay the required admission fee. The admission fee payment can be done through DD/Cheque only in favor of "IIIT Delhi Collections". IIIT Delhi PG Diploma fee range from INR 25,000 to INR 2.3 lakh. This fee is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative. 

The technology institute admits candidates to PhD courseson merit and respective entrance exam scores. The accepted entrance exams are GATE/ UGC NET/CSIR NET. Candidates shortlisted based on exam scores are then invited for the interview round for final selections. Moreover, for some of the PhD courses, candidates are selected based on performance in the last qualifying examination. It is also crucial that each of the aspirants meet the required eligibility criteria.

IIT Roorkee announced the GATE 2025 result on March 19, 2025. To check the result, candidates will need to enter their GATE enrollment ID, registered email ID, and date of birth.
