IISc Bangalore Admission Process and Important Dates 2026
IISC Bangalore offers different programmes, including undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, PG Diplomas, and Certificate courses. All the programmes are available in full-time mode. For IISc Bangalore courses at the PG level students can also apply through the university page with selection process depending on entrance exam scores as required by specific courses as shown here:
- IISC Bangalore Admission to postgraduate and PG Diploma courses is facilitated through IIT JAM, an online Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by an online counselling round for final selection.
- IISC Bangalore also accepts various state and national-level exams for various Indian Institute of Science IISC Bangalore course admissions. The university accepts the scores of JEE Main for admission to its BE/ BTech courses. CAT and XAT scores are also accepted by the university for admission to its MBA programme.
- Though Merit-based admission is also applicable to courses such as BA, BSc, and BBA at IISC Bangalore.
Interested students must also complete the course eligibility for smooth admissions which depending on one's can require students to pass Class 12 with PCM subjects and minimum 60% scores for BSc while for BTech students must have atleast 45% score in Class 12. No, candidate who are looking for admission at IISC Bangalore need to have a valid GATE score. However, 70% GATE score + 30% performance in written test (100% GATE based for Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Materials Engg.) + COAP counselling will be accepted. Apart from this, students might face some problems while downloading the GATE hall ticket 2024. The problem might be due to slow internet connectivity or a heavy load on the server. In such situations, candidates should try downloading the admit card after a short duration. In case any candidate forgets their application ID/Enrollment ID or password, they can reset it. Candidates seeking admission to IISc Bangalore can apply online on the IISc Admissions Portal, i.e., official website. Click the ‘Apply Now’ tab under the M.Tech course name and reach the registration page. Click on ‘New user Registration/ Login’ then select the programme and again click on ‘New user to register click here’. Applicants must use their email IDs to register (email ID cannot be changed later) preferably gmail. After registration, a verification email is sent to the registered email account, by confirming the email one can start filling out the online application. The application fee is non-refundable and can be paid online via debit card, credit card or net banking.

IISc Bangalore is about 35 km from the airport. One could take a taxi from the airport. The city railway station is about 7 km from the IISc Bangalore campus. One will have to leave the station from platform number one to reach the taxi stand. Majestic (7kms from IISc) is the central Bus stand in Bengaluru and is just opposite the City Railway Station. If one happens to reach Majestic, Bengaluru by bus, go to the city bus platform number 22, from where almost all city buses come to the Institute.
