For Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme, aspirants are offered admission based on JEE Main score. Hoewever, for BSc programme admission, JEE is not compulsory. Candidates with a valid score in IISER Aptitude Test can also get admission. For other courses such as MTech, MSc and PhD, JEE Main is not required for admission at Indian Institute of Science (IISC).
The mode of application at IISc Bangalore is via online mode only. The university offers courses at the UG,PG and Integrated PhD levels. IISc Bangalore BTech admission is strictly based on counselling by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). No separate application is required to be submitted on the IISc admission portal. STEP 1: JoSAA Registration
Aspirants need to apply for JEE (Main) on time. They need to appear for the exam as per schedule and qualify for JEE (Advanced). Then they need to take the JEE (Adcanced) test and register for JoSAA counselling as follows:
1.1: Sign up on the official JoSAA 2026 online portal at https://josaa.nic.in/ using basic details.
1.2: Select IISc BTech programmes during the choice filling/locking period.
1.3: Engage in counselling and seat allocation as per JoSAA schedule.

STEP 2: Selection Process
IISc does not conduct separate entrance exam for BTech admissions. Admission is based on JEE Advanced rank through JoSAA counselling process. Candidates only need to choose IISc programmes during the JoSAA choice-filling stage. Seats are allotted based on JEE Advanced ranks and the candidate's choice preferences.
STEP 3: Admission Confirmation
Students who are allotted BTech seat at IISc need to physically report to the IISc campus as notified. They need to get their documents verified and pay prescribed fee amount to secure their seat.

No, IISc Bangalore does not offer direct admission in BSc. Candidates need to fulfill eligibility criteria and clear the IISc cutoff of JEE (Advance) to get admission. Otherwise, they need to take IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) and clear the cutoff according to their category for admission.
