The number of vacancies to be filled through IBPS Clerk 2020 recruitment is 1,557. It has been observed that the number of vacancies reduced by 87% compared to last year. Last year, the number of vacancies announced was 12,075.

The number of vacancies announced for IBPS Clerk 2020 has declined sharply compared to last year. Among all states, Maharashtra has the highest number of vacancies. However, it is less than last year. IBPS Clerk vacancies for states such as Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal has reduced drastically compared to last year. Decrease in IBPS Clerk 2020 Vacancies: What is might be the reason?
- Recently, 10 Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) banks have been amalgamated into four banks. As a result of this mega-merger, the number of public sector banks in India has come down to 12 from 27 (in 2017)
- Banks are now implementing robotics to centralise their operations for quicker turnarounds. This has reduced the need for a manual workers at the back end
- The number of retirements is less. Usually, the vacancies are created against the outgoing people. If this number is less then automatically the business requirement will also be less
