IBPS Clerk 2020: Total vacancies reduced by 87%, aspirants cry foul on Twitter

IBPS Clerk notification 2020 has brought many surprises for candidates. What was most surprising is the number of vacancies announced for this year. The number of vacancies to be filled through IBPS Clerk 2020 recruitment is 1,557. It has been observed that the number of vacancies reduced by 87% compared to last year. Last year, the number of vacancies announced was 12,075.

Decrease in IBPS Clerk 2020 Vacancies: What is might be the reason?

• Recently, 10 Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) banks have been amalgamated into four banks. As a result of this mega-merger, the number of public sector banks in India has come down to 12 from 27 (in 2017)
• Banks are now implementing robotics to centralise their operations for quicker turnarounds. This has reduced the need for a manual workers at the back end
• The number of retirements is less. Usually, the vacancies are created against the outgoing people. If this number is less then automatically the business requirement will also be less
