CUET Mathematics Exam Pattern

CUET Maths exam pattern 2026 gives students an idea of the structure of the question paper. The National Testing Agency conducts Common University Entrance Test (UG) once a year for admission to participating central, state, private, government and deemed universities. To be eligible for admission, candidates must appear for the entrance test for UG subjects required for their target course. NTA will administer CUET 2026 between May 11 and May 31, 2026, in computer based test mode.

Aspirants who have selected CUET Mathematics as one of their mapped subjects can get admission to UG courses like B.A. (Hons) in Mathematics, B.Com (Hons), B.Sc. Common University Entrance Test (CUET) sample papers are released by the conducting body, National Testing Agency (NTA). To download the CUET question papers follow the steps below:

  4. Create the login details for new registrations

Q:   What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?

The CUET questions are objective in nature and carries four options also known as MCQs. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, students will get +5 marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer. 

Q:   Is it important to select CUET subjects studied in class 12th?
A: 

Yes, it is important for students to align the CUET UG subjects with the subjects studied in class 12th. Top central universities like Delhi University, does not accept CUET subject scores which have not been studied by student in class 12th. While selecting CUET subjects candidates must make sure that CUET subjects must closely or completely align with the subjects studied in class 12th. Failing which, candidate will be disqualified for admission despite a good score.

CUET Mathematics Marking Scheme

The National Testing Agency lays down the marking scheme, which is followed while checking a candidate's response sheet. Check below know the marking scheme for CUET Mathematics exam.

  • 5 marks for correct answer
  • -1 mark for incorrect answer
  • 0 mark for unatttempted question

CUET Maths Total Marks

The CUET Mathematics marking scheme states that a candidate will get 5 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. However, if a candidate leaves a question unattempted 0 marks will be awarded. Now, as there are 50 questions in the mathematics question paper, the CUET total marks for Mathematics exam is 250 marks.

CUET UG Language section will include 50 questions. Candidates must attempt all questions. There will be no optional questions.

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt all the sections of the CUET question paper?

CUET UG question paper for each subject will consist of 50 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt all questions and no optional questions will be provided. In CUET UG 2026 there are 37 subjects- 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and general tests. While filling the CUET application form, candidates can select upto five CUET subjects aligning with the subjects studied in class 12th and course requirement.

Candidates must attempt all the questions of the subjects selected. However, candidates must keep in mind the negative marking and select the options carefully.

No, candidates can raise objections after the CUET result has been declared. NTA calculates the final CUET score based on final answer key. CUET revised answer key is released after evaluating the objections raised by the candidates after the released of provisional answer key.

No, CUET exam is not compulsory to take admission in different programmes at Lucknow Institute of Pharmacy. The college offers admission in the UG and PG courses based on merit in last qualifying exam. They just have to fulfil the eligibility criteria.

If the students are done registering for the CUET UG exam, they should wait for the exam date to release. Then, appear for the entrance exam and register on the DU CSAS portal. Only then, students can apply for their preferred course and college. At the end, pay the fee and seal your admission.
