Commonly asked questions
The IISER Entrance Exam 2026 pattern is expected to remains same as last year. IAT consists of 60 questions, 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry Mathematics, and Physics. There will be four answer options. Total time for answering the test is 180 minutes. Questions are multiple choice type with only one correct answer. The mode of the exam is computer-based.
Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) will release the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026 Student Response Sheet in the second week of June 2026. Candidates can visit the official website of IISER and, after logging in with their credentials, can finally view their IAT 2026 Response Sheet. Candidates can finally tally up their marks scored in the IISER Aptitude Test.
The IISER Entrance Exam questions are objective type. These are multiple-choice questions with four options. The mode of the exam is computer-based. Test-takers have to select one option. Marks per question is four. One mark will be removed for wrong answers.
IISER Exam pattern for the academic session 2026-27 is yet to be announced. However, last year pattern remains to be same as of the previous year of IISER Entrance Exam which was also conducted in online mode i.e., computer-based. The only change which is made by the exam conducting body is the marks awarded for each correct anwer.

IAT 2025 Exam Analysis
Students who had opted for PCM in their class 12 std, found the biology section comparatively moderate to difficult and the students who had opted PCB in their class 12 standard found the Mathematics portion to be moderately difficult. for the common subjects for both the stream students, which are Chemistry and Physics, the exam difficulty level was moderately easy. The overall difficulty level of the IISER Entrance Exam 2025 was found to be moderate. It was also found that many questions were indirectly repeated from the previous year questions on the subjects of biology and mathematics. In the physics sections, the maximum number of questions was asked from theory-based type instead of numerical-based questions.
Some candidates who had appeared in the JEE exam found the exam difficulty level the same as the JEE exam.

Marking scheme: Candidates will be awarded three marks for each correct answer. There will be a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer.
