IIT JAM 2024 Chemistry Subject exam was conducted in the first shift from 9:30 to 12:30. Applicants who appear in the IIT JAM 2024 exam for Chemistry subject can check the topics from which maximum questions will be asked, question paper analysis, good attempts in the subjects, and well difficulty level of the exam.

The morning shift of IIT JAM 2024 exam was conducted from 9:30 to 12:30. There were 3 subjects for which the exam was conducted in morning shifts those are Chemistry, Geology, and Mathematics. The majority of questions were asked from topics related to Organic, Inorganics & Physical Chemistry.

The are 60 questions in IIT JAM exam. These 60 questions were in the format of MCQ, MSQ and NAT type.
JAM exam for all the Test Papers was conducted as a computer-based Test (CBT) where the candidates are shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen.
Section - A contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each. Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. Candidates can mark their answer by clicking one of the choices. A wrong answer will result in negative marks. For each wrong answer to 1 mark
questions, 1/3 mark is deducted and similarly for each wrong answer to 2 marks questions, 2/3 mark is deducted.
There are a total of 60 questions carrying a total of 100 marks.
Section - C has a total 20 Numerical Answer Type questions, involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each. For NAT questions.
Every year on the rotational basis, IIT JAM exam organising institute changes. For the academic session 2025-2026 the exam conducting body is IIT Bombay. IIT JAM 2026 exam was conducted on February 15, 2026 at 116+ exam centres across the nation. Test takers were able to download the IIT JAM 2026 question paper.
